I just want to say that I adore the Boreal Dwarf, it looks like an in game portrait to me. I'm a woman and I'm cool with the mage featured in the kickstarter video she looks pretty respectful and isn't doing a bum and boobs pose or anything . It bothers me when melee fighters dress like that though. I'm more interested in the fact that she seems to have a dual alignment? Is that something they going for with the companions maybe how you treat them and others they become good or evil? That would be pretty cool if done well.

Failure States

Good I hate timed quests lol. I like the idea of clearing up your mess but I don't want the game to treat me like an idiot for something I didn't know about or could do nothing about. There's nothing worse than NPC's gloating at you for something you had no control over lol -

As much as I like co op I don't really like it in these kinds of games. -
Weapon mechanics

Claymores should do crushing damage. A random guy in the blacksmith in Gretna gave me a lecture for about an hour on the subject...lol. -
Especially with the option to mock them and gloat. (But if you do that very often, your enemies might hear about how you tend to do that, and set up a fake ambush to ambush you as you ambush the fake ambushers. (Ambushception!) Then mock you and gloat.) That made me think of Princess Bride for some reason hahaha. But does he know that I know that he knows! dun dun duuuun.

This is silly

I sometimes get an uncanny feeling that some people who have funded this game have never played anything by Obs except for Fallout NV. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. At least this genre of game is getting a new audience. I trust Obsidian to make the right decisions, as for player housing I thought the strongholds in Baldur's Gate 2 were very cool especially the quests for them.- 60 replies

This is very important. I think many do not realize how endangered SP games have become. EA CEO or something recently said he was proud they did not approved any single player games in recent time and they will only do multiplayer games. And indeed EA turned Command and Conquer series into F2P. STALKER 2 dev disbanded and are now working on F2P MMO Survarium. Everyone wants to make online F2P games these days. I personally believe that someday we will have to look towards indie dev or crowd funded project to make quality single player games. This is why I have no problem putting down as much money as I can afford into projects like this that are willing to focus on single player game. I agree totally with what you have said but one light at the end of the tunnel is that Bethesda have the Stalker IP now so at least that is something, hugs Something I really want is hand drawn backgrounds, I love me some art :3 Oh and a mage familiar! :D

I understand it's hard to put a protagonist in peril but something that super bothered me about BG and IwD (probably the only thing that bothered me) was the amount of time my 18 int mage character walked into a trap that I, as the player, spotted from a mile away. I'm not talking about a physical trap, but the moment the enemy jumps out from behind a sofa and goes 'BWAHAHAHA you did exactly what I wanted you to! Ambush!' and I let out an audible sigh as I the story forced me into that situation. I know it's picky but it does get frustrating

Varric from DA2 fits that description and he's the only thing I like about that game I think Fallout's companions were competent... when they were sober >_> but everyone has issues and baggage especially in a messed up fantasy world where you wouldn't want to take a step out the front door at night for fear of being eaten by a grue. But yeah I agree with you a companion you could sort of share an eyeroll with when someone says something stupid or a plan goes wrong is great. There's a quest where Hawke and Varric totally bull**** this bandit between them, that was great (shamed the rest of the game sucked, in my opinion )

My ancestors were border raiders and the average guy probably wore little more than sleeveless a cowhide jerkin with maybe some mail underneath if he was wealthy enough and some padding. They were probably a bit mad though

I think romances have their place, I mean the romance with Alastair in DA:O has always felt almost central to the plot to me. The Warden and her choices are deeply effected by his history and their relationship. I love that it feels like part of the game and is not just tacked on. Having a child is just to far for me though, How long is this adventure going on for! :D

I'd like the romance to be grown up and subtle. A nice romance for straight female players would be great if there is going to be some. I've often thought the Big bad falling for the PC or a companion would be really interesting if done in a serious and non Twilight kind of way. Kind of like a tragic romance.

I agree with audiocide and pop. I like the idea of, say, daggers being useful as ambush weapons while a melee character who wants to go into full combat will favour a sword. I have to admit I'm a fan of different enemies being more vulnerable to certain weapons too. Smash skeletons with maces, don't use swords vs slimes ( xD) and ghosts need to be hit with magic or silver. By the same rationale hit a fire based enemy with a water or frost spell and it will hurt a lot.

I liked Arcanum's way of handling it. If you chose really low Int you would sound like a bit of a moron. If you were a evil git all the time people would see you coming and be...oeh noes. If you were charismatic (handled as 'beauty') people would be more easily swayed and like you more. I really enjoyed playing with those conditions but of course it might not be for everyone

That makes a lot more sense, then. In some recent games, that is pretty much the size of a standard longsword. Also my character is a cleric and the sword she is using is 'divine' which mean it works from her strength and faith modifiers (That you have to put souls into). She can hit very hard with it because of her faith. It fits to the lore of the game.

Evil PC Options
Moonlight Butterfly replied to duskwind's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
My Fallout 3 character destroyed Megaton because she wanted to get her father's attention. She had serious Daddy issues. But I would love an evil PC who actually seems like a badass. Most, like renegade Shep, just come across as a bit of a **** lol. I would like a sort of 'Watch out world there is a new big bad in town.' Underhanded villainy and subtle manipulation would be great.
