  1. A nongender race, done well, could be interesting if it fit the setting. Including a nongendered race simply to have a nongendered race doesn't sound promising though. And the Asari are not a nongendered race. The in universe sophistry aside, they're an all female race created specifically for titillation. A blue version of Star Trek's green Orion women. The developers even admitted as much. I really don't think that's what the OP is looking for. No but they are the first thing that came into my head I understand that they are designed to be sexy, but I'm a straight woman so I certainly don't get titillated by them I think one of the strange races obsidian have spoken about could fit this, especially a water based tribe or something. It could be a different and interesting break from tolkien-esque norms. The dynamics in a non gender race could be interesting to explore, no?
  2. If the game does not respond or react to these options in any particular way and thus enhance the gameplay, their inclusion is redundant and you might aswell just imagine these things. And I am quite sure this game will not be able to respond to every whim the players might have (nor should it). In most CRPGs i've played ethnicity/skin colour/national identity has never been acknowledged, only the fantasy race (i.e. elf, dwarf etc). Could you imagine a game not including different skin colour options for a character, and the developers saying "sorry we didn't have time to cater to EVERY possible character option...just imagine you're black." Of course not. Gender identity and sexual preference shouldn't be excluded from a game just because they're not yours, or part of your understanding of the world. Gender, race and skincolor are visual traits, though. By that, they already project a consequence for choosing them. You can't witness a sexual orientation without having it visualized in some way. And whose sexual orientations should be visualized and in what way/magnitude? Or should they all be? Mix and match? I think not. They specifically ask for a non gender race in the OP you know, like the Asari? Why is everyone ignoring that and having a massive knee jerk reaction.
  3. Guys...STOP A MINUTE and read the OP they specifically suggested that a non gender race be used. Somebody like Shale from DA:O How and Why is that some kind of massive problem?
  4. Realistically, while lesbians and gay men can be included without their sexuality being their central theme, much like it was done in New Vegas, this is a fantasy setting. I somehow doubt there's operations to change one's hormones and appearance to make them more feminine or masculine. I mean let's get real here. Transgender operations haven't been around that long. Asking for transgender representation in a fantasy setting where guns are -just- beginning to be discovered? Very out of place. If you actually read the Op they ask for a non gender race specifically to make them feel more comfortable, I think that's fine. Since Shale from DA:O is actually one of my favourite characters I would be very cool with this idea.
  5. I wouldn't have a problem with an androgynous race. Because let's face that's all they are asking for. Maybe Obs could make one of their 'strange' races androgynous. Like Water Elves or something. I'd want a playable female character so I feel bad saying no in this case. The Asari are non gender and no one has a problem with them.
  6. I would like it to be like Baldur's Gate where you feel like you have a central quest but you help folk out on the way to that quest. I preferred it to the dungeon focused IWD.
  7. I'd like it to be at least baldur's gate level of text heavy. I like reading and loads of dialogue options are great. I also really enjoy Obsidian's work.
  8. Yeah I really like these, I think there was a sense alignment spell in some of the games? That was useful. I really like your Sense Motive though.
  9. I quite enjoy finding traps and dismantling them. So yeah it would be nice to have them in.
  10. Then for you, and everyone that agrees with this point, you can just toggle off the option. If you're worried about being tempted into it, then al;l I have to say is, the next time you level up, put a few more points into your willpower. I personally don't see the difference between waving your cursor over every screen and having a highlight button. It's like when they added healing after combat in Final Fantasy because everyone was just topping themselves up anyway, it's busy work. It also helps colour-blind people a lot. As red green colour-blind person I often couldn't see floor loot in IE games. I prefer to not have additional busy work. It detracts from my enjoytment of the game. I have difficult distinguishing shades of color, too, so I'm worried about missing stuff, even if I did play Minesweeper on every screen. Oh I was agreeing with you btw

  12. I don't like feeling pressured to take a rogue 24/7 because I might miss some treasure. Knock spells and Break lock please
  13. If the inventory system is per character I want things that i pick up with my leader character to go to the next available slot even if it's on another character. I also want an inventory sorter that sorts things into type. I want an option for the UI to be small and I don't want it to be really invasive, ornate heavy and distracting. I want to see the game not my ui
  14. I don't mind I'll just be happy to play a decently written tactical game. I love longer games but I don't want Obsidian to feel like I won't play it and appreciate it if it isn't massive.
  15. I find that RTwP lets me play at my own pace whereas turn based can be excruciatingly slow.
  16. Can you explain a bit more for those of us who haven't played the game? Something along the lines of various groups of clerics that follow different deities? Yeah they had different gods that your cleric would select and if I remember correctly they would grant differently abilities. Some god's weren't available to certain alignments though.
  17. You mean a boring one, right? It's neutral. Being the one that created this poll I've chosen the "Sometimes can be interesting and motivate a player to do more than one play-through." option. I think he mean there are no 'I like achievements options' they all err on the side of dislike Like I said I don't mind them it's free research for Obsidian for future games.
  18. Only if they are well done I'm bored to death (lol) of zombies and vampires. Bohdi was kind of cool.
  19. I'm a big dark souls fan and how they handle weapons and their different abilities is great. A rapier can be used to make a fast jab and hide behind your shield while your enemy bleeds and a claymore's sweeping attack (which can leave you exposed) takes out 3 guys but it can also be used in a lunge attack. I know it's a different game type but those things can be easily moved to abilities and effects rather than direct action. You can also upgrade to certain types like 'divine' which work from your 'faith' stat rather than strength. Which I also adore.
  20. That is what some of the "gamers" (I use this term very loosely) here want though. They want to explicitly see women get brutally ganged raped in full view so they can watch... This thread makes my stomach churn. The mods should step up and lock it! This is not what Obsidian wants anyway. I don't know, maybe they should do it so they know how serious that is and how it effects the victim. See how they like that... (but yeah I agree with you it's disturbing)
  21. ngggh I know I'm going to somehow regret this and I really didn't want to say anything as I love Mr Sawyer's work BUT my only complaint about F:NV is that it's way to easy even with his mod :< On Very Hard Hardcore. Make it harder....hehe. How hard are we talking here? Temple of Elemental Evil "Iron Man" mode? MOAR HARD. :D ( I want to be tempted to break my keyboard!!!) But seriously I just want a game that punishes you for not paying attention really and that it's satisfying when you beat an enemy encounter

  23. Does anyone remember the cleric alignments in Icewind Dale? I'd love to see something like that but faction based
