  1. Just had a similar experience. Three character party and took on a tough encounter. Probably should have suffered a TPK, but I used some scrolls and positioning and got pretty lucky, I believe. Had to use my last bundle of supplies right after, as my tank was down to 8 HP. Took a walk back to town to grab more supplies. Pretty cool, pretty fun, and quite memorable.
  2. Try toggling the console on, then enter simply 'God' without the quotes. A quick search turned that up, but I haven't tested it. 'Rest' supposedly forces the party to rest without using camping supplies.
  3. Yes, the problem with many 'reviews' is they tend to be more a "I don't like this feature, so the game sucks" or "This feature is different than BG/IWD/PST so the game sucks" or "This feature doesn't work the way I want so the game is unfinished". Seriously, reviews like that come off as nothing more than whining and trolling. Having said that, as IvoryOwl pointed out, when a negative review actually critiques the game by using facts about gameplay elements or bugs or mechanics, then it can be considered a legitimate review and shouldn't have such a backlash (well, even the 'troll' reviews shouldn't suffer any backlash. They should just be ignored).
  4. LOL - it is odd that your stash can hold 2000 sets of armor but for some reason you can't stuff any camping supplies in there.
  5. I believe it's actually intended as an extension of the item name: Golden Ring 'Of Deflection'. At least, that's the only sense I can make of it. Maybe they're randomly generated?
  6. Doesn't this bug 'stack'? If you keep double clicking you keep losing more and more bonuses? If so, that might be a big incentive to start over.
  7. Might be a good idea for that as an option to toggle. I wouldn't mind that. One other thing I'd like is when you load a save game where your party was in fast movement mode when you saved, have them be in fast movement mode when the game loads. It seems to forget that every time.
  8. I think you actually hit on the cost/benefit analysis in your post: it's a bit of a trade-off for the player to determine what's worth more to them. Do you want to spend the copper in-game for camping supplies or do you want to spend some of your real-world time to go back to an inn? One way to de-incentivize the whole thing was mentioned in another thread: have consequences for leaving the dungeon/quest to run back and rest. Things such as respawning mobs or an objective could possibly fail since no one is actively opposing it when they're running back to town to rest. But I personally think there's no simple answer and the more the devs try to discourage one type of behaviour, the more they'll just encourage something else they didn't foresee.
  9. I can see what you're saying and can even agree with the first part of the post. But the bolded part? That would be a horrible, horrible mechanic.
  10. I don't agree that the game is 'unfinished' due to these points, but I do think some of these design decision could use an overhaul, maybe for the expansion or (even better) a patch: 1. Individual stealth: not broken per se, but ye gods we need individual stealth mechanics, please. 2. Not being able to drop items: I don't see why this is a big deal. Just sell the crap you don't want 3. Seeing all npcs in the game world walk but you cant: I don't understand the obsession with walking, but to each their own. Something that could be patched in I suppose, but certainly not 'unfinished'. 4. No options to bash open or break locks on chests , doors, or cabinets: this is an odd design decision. BioWare did this in DA:O and it makes very little sense IMO that you cannot open a locked item without the Mechanics skill. 5. No ammunition for ranged weapons: I actually prefer this as opposed to having to sift through my inventory to find 5 different types of ammo for various different critters. No thanks. 6. No option to pass time: One can always sleep at an inn to do this. Again, not an indicator of 'unfinished' status though.
  11. I'm getting my ass handed to me by Shades, but everything else I've met so far has been manageable. My party's only level 3 though, so maybe that's the issue.
  12. Funny how this game can make you feel like you're doing really well one moment and the next you feel like you totally suck. I've been getting repeatedly waxed by these damned shades (shadows I find no big hassle) with a party of 6 (levels 3 and one at level 2). Tried various different tactics to no avail and finally googled and found this thread. Still getting stomped. I guess I'm not leveled enough for my playing skills (I admire you guys that can get through these buggers with a party of 3). Going to have to withdraw from these ruins and try a few other quests before I return, I guess.
  13. You don't get more XP on hard for killing enemies. In fact, the only XP you get for killing enemies is for adding an entry to the bestiary. Once you kill a certain amount of a creature type, the bestiary is filled and you no longer get XP for killing those creatures. I assume it takes the same amount of kills to fill the bestiary on Easy as on other settings, so no advantage in XP by playing on a different setting. You may have a point with respect to loot, although I doubt it will make a significant difference there either.
  14. From what I've read on the GOG forums, GOG takes the same cut as Steam.
  15. I was wondering when this thread would show up. Every game release I've seen over the past few years inevitably has this complaint. Indeed, Gromnir, indeed.
  16. LOL - I'm probably going to end up getting far too little sleep in the next couple weeks as well.
  17. There's also the fact that full voice means a much larger game size. Probably not a big deal to many people, but that can put a big bite on some peoples' bandwidth caps as well as makes it that much more of a pain in the tuckus when you have slow DL speeds.
  18. I would hardly call the game 'half-finished' just because there's a game mechanic/design decision you don't like. And is this really stopping you from playing? Seems rather... odd.
  19. Itcheatses, it does! O we hates it, Preciousssss, we hatesssss it!
  20. I'm running it on the same video card, but with a Core i7 920 and 6 GB RAM, and it runs very smoothly for me.
  21. Give them time to get it sorted. I imagine it's going to take them a couple hours to get all the keys out to those backer tiers (they have to find all the backers at those tiers and then associate keys with their accounts). Not sure how much of a wrench Paypal backing is going to throw into the process, if any.
  22. Yeah, I was under the impression this was going to feature of the final release.
