  1. Although GOG has explicitly stated that you can share copies of your games with people in your own household. Still, yes, many people completely misinterpret GOG's DRM-freeness as tacit permission to share with friends etc.
  2. Any character can raise those skills and be effective with them, so you can certainly go that route. Unless you're asking if some of the companions already have points in some of those skills to start off with, which I can't answer.
  3. Yeah, it's totally a personal thing whether Steam is great, meh, or just evil. I fall into the 'meh' category. While I don't hate Steam, I also don't praise it. Of all those things you listed, the only ones that are of any appeal to me at all are the two I've quoted. None of the others are compelling reasons to me, and some are outright drawbacks. To each his own.
  4. How is that lazy (W2 in particular)? You still have a large number of companions to choose from. You just can't have them all in your party at the same time.
  5. Oh, you know you will anyway. Sensuki, nice vid. It was great to check the computer this morning and find that waiting for me. Cheers, and keep up the good work!
  6. Contact Support. They may be able to switch it for you.
  7. Oh, that I'm well aware of. It was just the Steam/Origin thing that I was wondering about. Yeah, Uplay. Ubi's on my s**t list, so I avoid that like the plague.
  8. I don't think there's any that required both, no. It's just that if you bought some of them via Steam, because you like having all your games in one place or something, you still had to sign up/use Origin as well. At least, that's what I heard/understood. That makes no sense to me.
  9. Apologies. Hard to tell right now with all the angst that's been tossed about here today.
  10. The assumption is Obs will have those patches available via the backer portal.
  11. Are there games that require both Steam and Origin? As far as I'm aware, when EA decided not to offer their new stuff from Steam, they required Origin (Mass Effect 3, Dragon Age:Inquisition), but I wasn't aware that there were games requiring both. Anyway, it's neither here nor there. I was just curious. Like I said, I find Origin an overall better experience than Steam (marginally, mind you, as no client is a great experience to me). Your concerns about security are noted though.
  12. To be fair to him, he's not bitching about when we got the keys: he's saying we should have gotten the actual game at the same time as or before the media. Note that I don't agree with this point of view, but just thought it should be pointed out what he's actually complaining about.
  13. Fair enough. Everyone's threshold for moving a dev to a 'be cautious' or 'avoid' list is different (I know I have a few devs on my own list). For me, Obs hasn't hit that mark. On a side note, if you're good with Steam, what's your objection to Origin? I actually use both, and from my perspective, I actually prefer Origin overall. I've had a smoother experience with it than I have with Steam, even though it still has a few rough edges (that store front really needs some fine tuning).
  14. Just to play the pedant: that's gold backers at the $1000 tier. The $750 and $500 gold backers only get one copy of the game.
  15. Fair enough, although it seems logical enough that the collector's book, game, and Prima guide would all have been something one could buy down the road - and cheaper than 250 bills. Anyway, not trying to bait you or start an argument. Like I said, it just seemed an odd POV.
  16. People are saying the preload on Steam is 6 GB. No idea how big the GOG DL will be, but I don't think they compress as much as Steam.
  17. This seems an odd point of view. Why did you pledge so much if you're seemingly concerned with what you could have saved by buying on Steam and Amazon?
  18. That's certainly one way to interpret it, I guess. And while I agree with the complaints that there could have been better communication by times, I certainly don't agree with your interpretation of Obsidian's actions. So I guess you'll be moving on and not bothering with Obsidian or their forums anymore, then?
  19. Yeah baby! Key generated successfully! No need to wait for the e-mail, just go to the backer portal.
  20. Obs is in California, Pacific Time Zone. Game releases at 9AM Pacific.
  21. BAdler just posted the keys will be going up soon. Everything seems to be set and ready to go.
