  1. http://code.google.com/p/x360ce/ You can use this emulator to get the controllers working.
  2. I'll only be able to test it when I get home, so I was wondering how the regular attack combos work for each character. Specifically, I'm looking for info on the possible number of sequenced attacks for each stance, and the ability to change direction without breaking the combo.
  3. I'd imagine it would be better to make a new game to cater to the online crowd, instead of shoehorning a Diablo style co-op mode in. I'm just guessing, though. It's always something isn't it? People are making suggestions that will improve the next game in the series (if there is one) by pointing out flaws with this game. I don't give a flightpath about their dev schedule or economic situation. Obsidian are asking full price for a streamlined Dungeon Siege. People who don't feel like the title is providing the gameplay options that seem to be standard for the genre are hoping for improvements, somewhere, in this title or down the road. You are cheerleading the streamlining and standing up for the stripped down MP. That's cool, we are all allowed to pick a side in any argument we choose but your side favors less gameplay features for the same amount of money. People paid full price for a broken, buggy, streamlined mess of a game in Oblivion, loved it and begged for more so I don't see the problem.
  4. Saying that an apple sucks because it's not a watermelon and then criticizing the watermelon producers for not catering to your personal tastes is not particularly valid criticism. It would be like me going on the Blizzard forums to complain that Diablo 3 isn't Planescape:Torment. The only thing you could honestly complain about is the use of the IP. It's not a question of difficulty. it's a question of limited development time and money.
  5. Sometimes? I have it like that all the time. I just I have to switch between screens in Windows whenever I wish. So yesterday, for instance, I played a bit of Assassin's Creed II on the TV and later I played it on the PC monitor. Because I could.
  6. Yeah, I'm waiting for those tons, as well.
  7. That's nice, especially considering it came out on the 17th.
  8. Well, yeah, but a major chunk of the western world has been sitting down in front of something 8 hours a day for the past 70 years. And that's the model for successful civilization. So the human race has probably already signed its own death sentence. Or perhaps a 13% increase in risk of death is actually silly and meaningless. I wonder how much the risk of me dying increases every time I step out my home. Or every time I enter the bathtub. Or every time I eat out. Or every time I do anything.
  9. The whole complain about co-op reminds me of people complaining when a game doesn't have any multiplayer. First everyone seems to assume that adding multiplayer is a just adding netcode or something. That's just silly, of course. More importantly, though, some games simply aren't designed to have specific features. Not everyone wants what you want in games, regardless of how many people want the same thing. People are diverse and have different tastes in games, and the fact this game wasn't designed for your co-op needs, doesn't mean no one will like the game.
  10. Connect your controller and TV to your PC: Profit!
  11. Are you for real here? Dark Alliance is an ARPG, like Torchlight and Lionheart and Diablo 2. It's nothing like Ninja Gaiden or Devil May Cry. I don't think the Obsidian Defense Squad even has the ability to tell the truth anymore. If you say so. Quoted for posterity. I was going to rant a lot but I'm flabbergasted that you would actually compare DS3 fighting system to Ninja Gaiden. And you think DS3 is more like Ninja Gaiden than Diablo 2? The combat is. It's much more dependant on enemy pattern recognition, actively dodging and blocking, and consequently on the player's manual dexterity.
  12. No, I did not say that. Edit: In any case I was referring specifically to the games' combat, which isn't clear from what you quoted, I guess.

  14. Working for Obsidian on contract is different from working at Obsidian.
  15. Nice review, even if he wasn't satisfied with the loot. Although, from playing the demo, I can kind of agree. A few times I had the same item duplicated in my inventory, but with different stats. I guess the random loot generator could use some work. How does the loot generator work, by the way? Is the loot generated when the container is opened or is it generated when the player enters the level? Perhaps a check against the inventory could be introduced.
  16. @WUE: Other than the Mouse and Keyboard control problems, the game doesn't seem to suffer from any issues.
  17. It doesn't want to be anything, so therefore its good no matter what it is? Cool, I'll be sure to mention that when I hand in my thesis. Also, it does want to be those things if you look at the promotional material; if it didn't it should be an PSN/XBLA release like some reviewers suggested. A mixture of several things is nothing? Good show.
  18. Those are all rubbish in Diablo 2, though. Diablo 2 strengths are in its replayability and in the very diverse character builds. Actually the stuff I listed is handled quite well in Diablo 2. It's part of why the game got a patch 10 years into it's life and why people still play game, more people than play DS3 by the way. DS3 is not about GOOD ACTION COMBAT either ... it is definitely in the same genre as Torchlight ... this isn't Ninja Gaiden. Enemy variety and AI is good in Diablo 2? HAHAOHWOW No it isn't Ninja Gaiden, it's a BG:Dark Alliance style game. BG: Dark Alliance is an action rpg like Torchlight. What planet are you from? Torchlight just has ultra gimped multiplayer as in they gimped it out of existence which is a huge negative against that game. The next step up in gimpy multiplayer is DS3, you know hobbling along with a cane telling the youngsters it's cool to only have one multiplayer mode cause that's all gramps needs! EDIT: I'm willing to bet that enemy variety in Diablo 2 >>>> (that's much much much much greater btw) DS3 In Torchlight, or Diablo, or Titan Quest you don't have fine control of your character. You don't have active dodge, active block, combos. It's the reason why continuous attack works with the first games but wouldn't work with Dungeon Siege 3. And it's why Dungeon Siege 3 ends up in a very different genre. The player's manual dexterity is much more important in DS3 than in Diablo. Dungeon Siege 3 and Dark Alliance work as lite versions of Ninja Gaiden or Devil May Cry. You may not enjoy that sort of gameplay, but it is what it is.

  20. I watched all the Diablo 3 videos, Barbarian will certainly be an extremely primitive click fest, way inferior to Lucas. As for others the only thing that will be better is that you won't be forced to play a gender you don't want to play, for example I don't want to play any of the female characters in DS3 because it's immersion breaking. Can't really see how Diablo 3 could be better except for crafting system and the game will probably be a lot bigger. Seriously, Dungeon Siege 3 is far better than Torchlight, Diablo 2 and Titan Quest in every way. If that's not enough for people I don't know what is. You have to understand that those games were never about good action combat. They were more about ease of entry and character building. Dungeon Siege 3 really isn't in the same genre as Torchlight or Diablo or the first 2 Dungeon Siege games.

  22. The game simply seems to perform better than expected on most or all configurations.
  23. 1,2 and 3 with a keyboard or the face buttons with a gamepad. If I'm not mistaken.
