Square Enix locked Dungeon Siege 3 forums

This is a random RPG, not Dungeon Siege

Less talking about each other, more talking about Dungeon Siege 3 in a balanced and polite fashion. -
Dungeon Siege was noted at the time of release for being dumbed down compared to previous RPGs. People complaining that the game played itself was common. Now, in this forum, plenty of people since the release of the demo have been complaining that Dungeon Siege 3 dumbed down things compared to the originals. I find that amusing. Now, regarding your control issues, I wholeheartedly agree that there should be customizable controls in every game. I especially understand how it is a big problem for people who are left handed. However that doesn't mean that aren't any PC controls in this DS3. It just means you don't like the controls and would like to see them changed.

The fun bit for me is that the old school purists are defending a game noted for the dumbing down and streamlining against dumbing down.

There's another guy on Steam's forums with the same problem that is also Ukrainian. Follow the instructions by ObsidianEnt here.

I'm really at a loss as to why your crash is happening.

The game has PC controls.

I'd say it looks a bit better than Sacred 2, especially when it comes to lighting. -

Of course, that would be best. Unfortunately, many PC games with controller support these days only support the 360 gamepad and Dungeon Siege 3 seems to be no different. Interestingly, one PC game that supported most controllers out of the box was Square's own Last Remnant. It even had specific button prompts for my gamepad. -

My thoughts about Dungeon Siege 3
Pidesco replied to P R O G Z's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
Good old hypocrisy. Not really. FNV still has sucky elements that got carried over from Fallout 3. But at least the story and game world isn't such a big ****up, which is the point here. Not that this belongs into this thread here now, though... The point is that the "hardcore Fallout fans" already hated Fallout 3 when it was just announced by Bethesda because it wasn't 2D isometric. Then when Obsidian made another variation of Fallout 3, suddenly it became awesome because some oldtimers from Interplay/BIS worked on it. Actually, the point is that Fallout 3 had bad writing, bad quest design and a bad plot. New Vegas didn't. The engine was the same horribleness while the combat was marginally improved. So there are reasons to prefer New Vegas, apart from being worked on by BIS oldtimers. -

This isn't a Diablo clone, it's a Dark Alliance clone. Oh, and randomized dungeons are horrible. -

I don't know how it works exactly but, considering that the game is mostly linear and there isn't persistent multiplayer like Diablo, you'll generally always be at roughly the same level in a given area, so it shouldn't make much difference if enemy strength is proportional to char level. You won't be taking your level 5 character against the game's last bosses or anything. -

In case you missed my post in the other thread, the controller emulator solves the gamepad problems. -

Now that I've played a bit more of the demo, some other things stood out. The soundtrack is, once again, great, the voice overs are uneven, and the game is very stable. I was alt tabbing in and out of the game with abandon, and it was quick, seamless, and not a single glitch occurred because of it. As far as technical polish is concerned, this appears to be Obsidian's best game. Regarding the voices, the one that stood out negatively was Anjali's. It sounds like Obsidian wanted a magical, out of this world tone for Anjali, but the voice actress really failed to achieve it. I'm probably going to be playing this a lot, both in single player and local co-op. Just Anjali and Lucas already play very differently, and they also allow, within their own customization, for a bunch of different playing styles. The combat is better than in Witcher 2, I'd say. -
Surprisingly, that actually doesn't look too bad.

DS3: Graphics Glitch!

Try disabling anti aliasing in the game and in the control panel. -

It's space to roll, I believe. Ok, the 360 controler emulator allows me to play with my gamepad, and it is much better than with the keyboard. The only problem with this solution is that I only get 360 gamepad button prompts. Other than that, the only thing I'd request is more control over the camera angle. -

I just played a couple of minutes to get a feel for it, so here are a few initial impressions. 1. The game doesn't detect my controller at all. I'll have to try it with the 360 controller emulator. 2. The game performs brilliantly. It's rather pretty, and with everything maxed out, it runs smooth as butter. 3. The game shows keyboard and mouse prompts for input in the character screen. It's a basic feature but, unfortunately, not a given in many games. 4. The character screen is huge and sports huge fonts. It's great to use on my big screen TV, but a bit of a waste if I'm playing on your PC's monitor. Lots of screen real estate is wasted, and it forces you to switch between several panes in the character screen 5. I've found the M&K controls fine and easy to control. I'm using WASD to move and the mouse to attack and it works fine. 1, 2, 3, Q, E, C, and Space are all easily reached and fairly intuitive for me to use. The only issue for me is that I have a tendency to click with the mouse when interacting with the environment instead of pressing E. 6. I feel that two types of attacks within each stance would have been better. It could have added a little spice to the combat through variation and combos. The following might have worked: Slashing and stabbing for Anjali's human form, explosive and burning for her fire form, sword and shield bash for Lucas' shield stance, Horizontal and vertical slash for his two-handed sword. -

Give this a go. I had the same problem with Arkham Asylum, and this emulator fixed it. -
By the error log, it seems to be some problem with the VC redistributable. As you've checked and double checked, I'm stumped. Perhaps you should search the net for previous problems between Visual Studio games that use the redistributable.

Good Game, Bad Dungeon Siege
Pidesco replied to thempc's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
It had a mule, you see. And no loadings. And snazzy graphics. And it played itself. And it had a nonsensical name. And yeah.
