  1. Among the features I've already disabled are Aero (seriously, who the **** uses this?), indexing. Others I haven't disabled yet are Libraries, generally removing the extra stuff from the new Windows Explorer, and the new stupid Start Menu. I'm still finding out new stuff to get rid of, though. As for the tearing, only one of media player classic's output methods alleviates it somewhat, although not completely. Note that the tearing only shows up on the TV, not on the monitor. Usually, this is a result of low performance mostly affected by the CPU and GPU. On XP, I had the same sort of tearing before upgrading my CPU from a P4 to the current core duo.
  2. Yes.
  3. It's slower, has a mass of useless features I have to disable or figure out how to disable, it made me buy an extra 2 Gigs of RAM to improve the performance, HD movies on my HDTV now have tearing, and it locks up my PC if I let it go into sleep mode. None of these happened with XP before. I did a clean installation. My PC: ASUS P5QL PRO Intel Core Duo 2 E7400 4 GB Kingston DDRII667 RAM Gaiward 9800GT Onboard Audio Samsung 80GB 7200RPM Samsung 320GB SATA2 Seagate 1Tb 7200 RPM S-ATA2 32Mb Samsung 19" 923NW Gamepad XFX XGear Dual Reflex The only difference between this and my previous config is that I doubled the RAM in order to harness the 64bit architecture. Damn you Just Cause 2.

  5. As long as it isn't done to the sound of Needle in The Hay.
  6. Yeah, right.
  7. They did hire Jorge "Oscuro" Salgado to work on FO3. If I recall correctly, he's from Spain. I thought he was South American. But wasn't he already living in California when he was hired?
  8. That was pretty great. Does Obsidian still have a policy of not hiring people from outside the US?
  9. There's always ROFLCOPTER.
  10. Exactly. How hard could it be? People complained for Dead Rising, complained for Banjo & Kazooje, complained for weeks with hundreds of posts for Mass Effect 2, for an issue so stupid and so easy to address. My point is that if there are two differently sized fonts, you're obviously not seeing the SD font in the Gamespot footage.
  11. In any case, isn't it standard to have two fonts in console games, one for HDTVs and another one for SDTVs? It seems like something obvious and trivial for a dev to do.
  12. - self confidence when speaking with women I'm not particularly attracted to + self confidence when speaking with women I really fancy - manly, attractive legs + a head of hair that doesn't look permanently weak, balding and unruffled. - excellent hearing + a personal soundtrack always playing in the background, which applies perfectly to whatever situation I'm in
  13. So there's respeccing in real life?
  14. I saw Slumdog Millionaire and Where The Wild Things Are the other day. Slumdog Millionaire is generally pretty bad with the generic love overcomes all plot, the bad acting and generic direction. Danny Boyle really is capable of the best and worst. I can't believe it got so many awards. I was going to say this was the worst Best Film Oscar winner since Shakespeare in Love, but I actually think Shakespeare in Love was better. Where The Wild things Are was a nice children's movie, I guess. I was expecting more, though. The only things that stood out were the art direction, and the cinematography.
  15. The alternative timeline really is about redemption, missed opportunities and general wish fulfilment. Now Ben will have an opportunity to achieve redemption with Locke after doing the same with his daughter. Meanwhile, in the real world: "In Reyes we trust!"
  16. So you left Black Francis lyrics, instead.

    :)

  17. It should. Although with Yahoo you have to pay money.
  18. And now Cycloneman has nothing else to live for.
  19. An act of God strikes down a plane full of counter-revolutionaries, and you claim that it's a great tragedy? This is divine judgment. So you're a Marxist
  20. Yeah, Yeah, Yeah.

    How you doing?

  21. What would be the point? Google gives you infinite storage space and the e-mails stored on their servers are never ever going away. And I can also be helpful: Use Gmail's settings to activate POP, then follow the instructions there to configure the mail client of your choice to get your e-mails. Finally, do the archiving through said mail client.
  22. Anyone is good at genocide with enough tech difference and unwavering dedication. Counter intelligence requires a lot of finesse, though.
  23. It can be defeated, just not by conventional warfare, alone. Basically there are two options: full scale genocide or excellent counter intelligence work. The British used to be very good at the second option.
  24. Recent history doesnt seem to bear this out. Every example I provided had the "complete support of the general population" (who wants to be conquered?) yet they all got their asses handed to them. The North and South American Indians outnumbered their conquerers millions to one, had home field advantage, had logistical and supply advantage and still lost. Why did they lose? Because they were out gunned. That and a little problem with smallpox. The wars between American Indians and European colonizers were conventional warfare, not irregular warfare.
