  1. They would gain martyrdom. From my understanding, there is no greater sacrifice than sacrificing yourself for the jihad by taking out the enemies of Allah. If Iran got nuclear weapons, it would not surprise me for them to use such terrible weapons against Israel regardless the consequences. They would sacrifice their nation if it means to remove a nation that is, in their view, an enemy of God. You have to understand that the political leadership of Iran isn't quite as keen on martyrdom as the general ignorant fundamentalist Muslim. They are leaders because they like power and want to keep it, not because they're trying to achieve moral victory against "evil".
  2. Florence. Prague. Istanbul. This would only be awesome if they recreated the actual cities, though.
  3. Keep in mind that best here is still pretty bloody awful. FFVII has no real gameplay to speak of, and the plot and writing are suicide enducing.
  4. I cannot possibly agree with that assertion. If anything the 1920s were about forging the foundations of intellectualism, anti-patriotic fervour and pacifism. Anti-patriotic fervour? No. Politically, the first half of the 20th century in Europe, including the 1920s, was all about ultra-nationalistic fervour. That tendency was only reversed by the massive carnage that Europe saw in WWII, which eventually led to relatively peaceful, non aggressive political stances all over Europe.
  5. Marion Cotillard standing up for herself.
  6. Nothing wrong with Oner's post from where I'm standing.
  7. Highlights among the already booked groups: ALICE IN CHAINS BOBAN I MARKO MARKOVIC ORKESTAR FLORENCE + THE MACHINE JACK JOHNSON MOT
  8. Trust me, that'll be the best investment you'll make in 2011! Oh, yes!
  9. Considering Hollywood picks the winner, it's no surprise that winning an Oscar opens a lot of doors.
  10. I don't know whether she deserved it or not as I haven't seen the movie. However, the point is that she didn't win the Oscar because her performance deserved it, she got it because she has a long Hollywood career, the movie was a schmaltzy human interest story, because she played a character against type, and because the other four nominees were never going to get the Oscar this year. Two of them didn't get it because they had won it already and the other two didn't get it because they are too young and the Academy usually feels that in those cases the nomination is recognition enough.
  11. That's about a perfect example of the decisions that made the Oscar a bit of a ridiculous award.
  12. ^Hurley is missing from that list.
  13. Why the obsessive need for the fantastical? Every other game has supernatural elements.
  14. These would be the obvious ones: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Bear http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Lion http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palme_d%27Or
  15. The Oscar isn't exactly the most respected award in the industry. Avatar not winning the big Oscars doesn't look bad for James Cameron, rather it looks well for the Academy. Low standards and all that.
  16. A noir RPG is waiting to be made.
  17. None. It would just be an excuse for the whole world to carpet-bomb Iran into oblivion. Iranian leadership would have to be a mass of extremely stupid individuals to pull something like that. And they're not stupid, of course.
  18. He wouldn't mind it, of course, but it was just an extra. He has a couple already.
  19. That's just awesome.
  20. Actually, I don't agree there. Cameron achieved exactly what he wanted. Ridiculous amounts of money, that is.
  21. I'm not, in any way, contesting that.
  22. Nice that Avatar didn't win.
  23. You make the fatal mistake of assuming that people aren't hypocritical or just plain stupid. Specially Americans. No. If you meet anyone, anywhere, ever, chances are that person is stupid.
