  1. I think the character should be exportable, like in the IE games. But I don't want a save game thing and decisions from one title affecting another. I don't like having to sit on old saves. The Mass Effect games were terrible. I hope they influence this game as little as possible.
  2. I strongly disagree. Your character should start with a class. Your character has a backstory already. YOUR backstory. (I know Chris Avellone would agree after reading his Wasteland playthorugh) (Probably Tim Cain as well because he's crazy about heavy character creation)
  3. Methamphetamine wizard. Not exactly meth, but... yeah. Some heavy addictive drug. Mature fantasy equivalent -- uhhh... Soul... ash? Take a standard adventuring Wizard. Looks torn and a little crazy, maybe. Have him be some sort of addict to a destructive but enhancing drug. His personal story quest would be to rid himself of his addiction. You as a player can choose to intervene and talk him out of using, or you can try to stop him, or just let him do whatever. As he deteriorates, his constitution/vitality/health (or whatever the game uses) should take permanent hits, while his intellect/wisdom/spellpower (or whatever the game uses) should go up. Potentially, he could be the ultimate glass cannon wizard. So if you let it go too far, you'll have him cough up blood, fall unconscious or maybe even die. Very dramatic and sad. As a character, he'd be a pretty funny, likeable guy. Maybe even introduced in such a manner that you'll like him from the get-go (kills an annoying enemy or saves your from something). Total bro. He'll be pretty chill about his addiction, at least initially. Maybe even joke about it. The first to express concern would be other (good aligned) party members. As it gets worse, you'll get the chance to intervene in party banters. He'll be like "I'm stronger than ever", and you'll be like either "Yeah!" or "You look sick."
  4. So a crossbow bolt would be too slow to break the veil? Because I imagine it would be a lot cheaper and reliable to use.

  6. Crit explotion kills are very satisfying. Limbs flying off is nice, but I would also like to see guts. Imagine like how in Soldier of Fortune, if you shot someone in the stomach, their guts would actually spill out. That, but from people slashing swords and stuff would be hellacopter cool.

  10. Linux users are huge nerds that will fix whatever bugs Obsidian include in the launched game. Respect our Linux friends.
  11. A more flexible schedule should be one of the perks of flipping off publishers. But then again since they are running a business they probably want it out around the time they've stated (what was it, April 2014? 2013?).
  12. Hope there's more than one type of spellcaster. Maybe even "offensive" cleric-like casters (imagine something like a morninglord in IWD2). I enjoy learning spells from scrolls, but I also like the convenience of sorcerers (auto-learning spells, but still only x casts per rest). Mana-based casting would be boring. Limited casts would be a lot better. Game should be so difficult you'll need to prep a fight anyway. So -- maybe if there was some way to regain x cast spells other than resting. Maybe individual "meditation" (du-duuuuh, idea!). So, meditation system: Let's say you've got an evocation wizard. He has memorized 4 fireballs, 3 crapballs and 2 dongballs. He casts them all in battle as the badass he is. Combat is over. He meditates - because he's out of combat and can do that - and he regains his spells. The whole party doesnt have to rest and this doesn't pass time, only a small "cast time" on the wizard's part, perhaps. Say, 5 seconds. He can meditate while the rest of the part is looting or something. But imagine they never get out of combat, and more enemies close in. He can't do ****, because he's in combat and has cast all his balls. He's porked. As it should be. Resting could have automatic meditation included for all casters. This would go well together with a DnD spellbook-like system of either learning scrolls (wizard) or levelbased (sorc).
  13. Remember it's their game, they get 100% of your money, so I definitly wouldn't mind some DLC adventures. They should be somewhat substantial though, can't just have a 2 level dungeon. As for the main game, I don't mind if it's a bit shorter if that also means it has more replayability. But even then I'd want at least 30-40 hours.
  14. I think Sawyer might address this in the update tomorrow. They've been talking about how they weren't fully pleased with the rest mechanics in IE games.
  15. I don't want "timed quests" (and I don't think Tim Cain will allow them either :D), but I would love to see stuff like "meet shady guy at the graveyards during night" etc. As for weather, sure. Doesn't have to be super advanced effects. Just some overlay kind of thing with sound effects would work for me.
  16. Some of the titles share common qualities, but I wouldn't call them fundementally similar. KotoR is lightyears away from ToEE, for instance. That said, I'm hoping for Eternity to take stuff from all the Infinity games - because they are indeed quite similar to each other.
  17. I enjoyed dragons very much in Baldur's Gate. But I would prefer more original "big bad monster" designs. Even some Balor-like monster would be more interesting.
  18. I liked the concept art in update #2. I would be totally fine with art like that for portraits and stuff. But I gotta agree, Sweet has some unique and really eye-pleasing art.
  19. The game world can be static in terms of animation for all I care. But I will want to be able to click bookshelves, tables, chests, etc
  20. Having played through the Forgotten Realms classics several times, I think it's a little sad that so many details in the culture of The Sword Coast is kept away from the player. Don't get me wrong, I love a lengthy item description and I enjoyed reading all the lore tomes I could find throughout my adventures. But I feel like a game can deliver so much more - even on an "isometric level". For instance, I like how the Elder Scrolls games have books that aren't all history and "art of war". There are recipe books, poetry books and more. Skyrim even had a choose-your-own-adventure book (which was also the heaviest C&C I think I've seen in a TES game)! - So when visiting homes in Eternity, why not have non-lore books the player can read? Maybe even a sort of information page/newspaper like in Arcanum? Vampire: The Masquerade let you read people's personal correspondance, letting you in on everything from small everyday problems to grand conspiracies. - Eternity is set in a fantasy world. There probably aren't any telephones. Correspondence letters should to be quite common, and can let the player in on some Eternity everyday drama. The Fallout games made a good job of letting the player in on the everyday eat-and-crap life of the wasteland inhabitants. You could buy iguanas-on-a-stick, play the casinos, service a lady and much more. - Instead of just being able to interact with the weapons vendors at marketplaces, let the player also be able to speak to the butcher, baker, brewer etc. Let the player know about local food. If it's a fishing village for instance, let the player ask about what type of fish they catch. Give some information about local wildlife, let the player partake in customs and festivities. etc. etc. I'm not asking for a role-playing sandbox, but I would love to see more "culture interaction" (like the examples above) than what is found in games like Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale.
  21. I don't want over-orchestrated stuff. I feel like some of the music in BG for instance was just that. Too much going on. The ambiance (city chatter etc.) was great though. I want the music up front, else I'll just mute it and play my own music. No choirs or singing though - that's putting it too up front. A lone violin playing something nice when traveling through a remote village, or some flute-y music when surrounded by nature. Inon Zur made great music for the towns of Icewind Dale, but I think the battle music could be made a little less stressful (while still delivering some sort of energy). Morrowind has amazing fantasy music, Jeremy Soules best by far. But again, I find some of the music in Morrowind to be too dramatic and stressful.   22. an in-engine tech demo video. show the party formation stuff, for instance. even if just using palceholder cube-art. I want to see devs play around with dialog tools and stuff.
  23. I would rather have 40-50 hours with good replayability than the double with very little replayability. However with the announced amount of companions (if they do indeed go for 6-character parties), I don't think I will be very interested to replay it. In BG2 I could basically play through the game with an entirely different set of characters. Classes will have to be very deep as well. As for story and C&C, I trust Obsidian to deliver on that.
  24. Maybe you could be a little less clear. I'm not saying you could but maybe. How many roles can a single class fill? Can NPCs use social skills or is it just the PC? Are there dedicated healers and "tanks"? If there are many roles to fill, then more characters are needed. In D&D you'll want people to unlock stuff, identify items, "tank" or summon meatshields, heal, buff/debuff etc. The IE games had good party sizes, but they also allowed for fewer NPCs. So if it's similar to the IE games, which they say it will be, I would say 6-8 is a good max but the players should also be able to play with fewer or even solo.
  25. Hey, guy, this is CRPG turf. Multiplatforming a title is a huge undertaking. Even if they raise 14 mils, it's still not gonna be worth it because of the toll it takes on interface design (among other things). Maybe post-PC launch. Seriously, this Kickstarter isn't even meant to appeal to console gamers. Why are you doing this to me. Can't you play Dragon Age 3 instead?
