The vision of an entire city giving themselves up to create a god (they weren't feeding it from what I can garner, you were witnessing the creation of one or more of the gods) raises a question that is either intended to be answered (or at least pondered on) in future games or the writers assumed something about human nature I find hard to swallow: why would all those people willingly give up their lives and souls, and the lives and souls of their children they held with them, to create a god? I understand that those who ran the Leaden Key and engineered it all believed it to be needed because of the idea that without gods people would go crazy or something, but what would prompt that many people to sacrifice themselves for what is basically an idea? It's quite a severe reaction to finding out there doesn't seem to be any gods, so there must have been something more going on, right?
  2. This isn't something you need to wait until you've been to Twin Elms for. It happens as soon as you finish the lighthouse quest. I was going to say, I was pretty sure when I cleared it out before going to Twin Elms it immediately had the bar ready and the rest being reconstructed. I was hoping the rest of the rooms would have gotten finished at some point but it appears not.
  3. But that's not our fault! Using the default font is common courtesy. I'm not angry about it, mind you. Now that I've seen it in the full version, it looks like an honest mistake (often happens when people copy-paste, for example). It'd just be nice if everyone remembered about proper formatting. Sorry about that, I had not realized that the font color was an issue. I thought the white colored letters stood out better. It does on the normal forum, I actually wondered what Rosveen was going on about myself as I don't use the mobile version either and never even thought about it. That's the issue nowadays with multiple platforms to view something on the internet, personally think websites should strive to ensure this sort of thing doesn't happen, such as using the same colour scheme by default but I don't know whether it's feasible with the software they use for the mobile version.
  4. Yeah, it does seem like you'll get the consequences of the choice in the sequel or expansion, then again games that have promised "You Choices Matter Will Have Consequences In the Next Game!" have usually failed to live up to expectations though... *cough* Mass Effect *cough*

The way it mentions how 'destroying souls', destroyed souls going to Rymrgand's realm, etc makes me wonder if the destruction of what is called the soul in Pillars really is the end of the person or if it moves them outside the cycle somehow in some way that isn't perceived. I mean, how can the total obliteration of yourself, your identity, at an atomic level really bring you peace?
  6. This is an interesting thought. We know the Vailians were more than willing to curbstomp their trade by taking advantage of the situation to go around them with the Glanfathans, I could see others taking advantage militarily, not necessarily by conquering the whole Dyrwood (since that would unify them and you still got to look at how the other nations would see an invasion like that), but taking contested land, 'to bring order' to the Gilded Vale etc.

  8. Hmm nice ad hominem there dude. Maybe they are not fanboys but are just pointing out that it's not bad design just because you suck at the game? Or maybe Zherot has a point. I think it's bad design too. Even BG gave you the opportunity to write and use scripts. This is supposed to be the 'spiritual successor' to the IE games and it doesn't even have all the features the IE games had. Seems like a step backwards to me. Then why does he resort to ad hominem attacks hmm? If he has a point he should make it, not make personal attacks on users for disagreeing with him. Since he has made ad hominem it proves he has no point to make and that he is irrelevant and so his posts from now on will be disregarded and/or ridiculed.
  9. If you haven't checked it out again, the patch is up on GOG now. @ Jojobob, yes I get this feeling with many games. I hate learning the mechanics and creating builds and characters with a certain goal in mind only to have that completely borked due to rebalancing patches. I wish games were released with much more attention to 'balance' in the first place, and patching involved minor tweaks and bug fixes instead. Of course, if wishes were horses... Cheers dude, I've been downloading it repeatedly the last few days due to attempting to try out GOG Galaxy which then borked the game after trying to add it and then repeated downloads having issues. Finally working now. :D

  11. Why would the Engwithans create three gods of death each different? Why would they create one god that had grandeur and possibly greater powers than the other gods and put him at odds with the other gods? The gods are split into factions. Magran hates Eothas. Why? I'm not sure why they hate each other. Maybe because it's in their nature? Eothas is a god of rebirth, redemption, etc etc. While Magran is a goddess of fire, purification, trials, war, etc etc. Because he is ally of Woedica, who was cast down by Magran. Eothas is not typical god of death. He is the one in the context of life. Look that he acts as psychopomp similiar to known Egyptian Anubis. If we look at porfolio of Eothas he should have had more enemies than Magran, his portfolio is opposed Rymrgrand and Skaen (but I think enemies have nothing to do with that fact). According to conversation with Durance, Magran might have been jealous (although it is Skaen domain) for Eothas light domain including fire as a source of light. I was thinking why moon isn't in domain of Eothas when stars are, I know it is in Ondra's power, but it all sounds like mentioned conflict with the rest of pantheon. I think other gods do not like him, because he has so high prestige (sun and stars, perhaps they were given other gods until Eothas came), more greater than Woedica in her best ages. Still thinking why sun and stars are so important for the rest of the gods as domain? Um, he was not ally of Woedica, in fact the game implies Magran got him destroyed because it was she who was allied with Woedica, who he was trying to stop.
  12. I'm a bit offish about how the gods are presented in the end. They make it utterly and completely clear that the gods were constructed by Thaos and Friends and are just machines essentially when I think a bit more ambiguity would have served better. I feel it should have been unclear as to who was exactly right (maybe make the tart that led the heresy a lot less pure too or more unstable, she came across as an obnoxious Mary-Sue to me), or that what the gods were, what they had created was unclear even to the creators, that maybe they had just given form to universal concepts of Kith or the universe that had always been there but had no voice (would explain why they are not unified and some have overlapping roles etc, I mean I cannot come up with any other justification for why they bothered to create more than one to begin with as it is). This also ignores the fact that even in real world history there were religions in which the worshipped gods were not the creators or even immortal, for instance the Greek and Norse gods who often had to fight against Titans and Giants for control of the universe. So if people are able to consider them gods why not these? Why does Eder lose his faith in Eothas just because he learns of his origin? Did he not believe in what his god stood for? I never saw anything ingame that mentions what people believed were the origin of the gods, so not sure how knowing where his god came from would shake anything that fundamental, and the fact that the characters in the game come to the conclusion that Eothas was trying to stop Woedica and expose the Leaden Key sounds like something Eder would get behind, but then the way they come to this conclusion is questionable and brings us to the Magran Issue. I agree with Luckmann that there was no evidence for Magran to have been allied with Woedica against Eothas, in fact when I first saw that come up in conversation with Durance I thought I had missed something at first by not getting all the gods' favour, yet even the one where you get to see Magran herself doesn't explain this. It feels like there was a lot more intended for these questlines, an actual quest you had to do to find out why Durance was not viewable by his god that was cut or something because at the moment it just comes across as theorycrafting by the PC and Durance.
  13. Well, the Rennaissance was a rather long period. Some say, it started in the late 14th century. As with every historical period, the borders are fleeting. The fashion festures items of the 15th, 16th and 17th century, at least as far as headware is concerned. And there's still plate armor, which proved it's uselessness in the battle of Crecy in 1346 against long bows. The pistols are somewhere between 16th and even 18th century. So it's good to remember we're dealing with fantasy and a fantasy world here. And we don't know if they have printing presses. There's no mention of it one way or the other. Just books. As I said in my original post different places place it at different times, technically places like China and eastern countries never had a renaissance because they never slowed in their learning, and in fact it was when learning from those countries passed into Western Europe that the renaissance took off. Hate to tell you this, but you are wrong about plate armour, it never 'proved' it's uselessness, especially not in 1346 which was actually when it was first being developed (full development of plate armour occurred in the 1400s in fact, and longbows were never that good against it, they could not penetrate the plate and they only worked in very specific places like Agincourt where the knights got stuck in mud and they were able to rain arrows on them until eventually one or two would find **** in the armour to slip through). The pistols in Pillars are wheellocks which were first recorded at the beginning of the 1500s, and were not used in the 1700s where flintlocks would have been used instead (there are no flintlocks in the game I believe). They are quite a bit later, but then that was my point about there being different advances in different areas to the real world.   15. Most hollywood movies and fantastical RPG's have romance. Don't you think it's a missing part of POE? * Conan the Barbarian and Valeria * Aragorn & Arwen. .. man I could list so many more, but must get back to POE to drop more hurtin bombs. Until you get to Defiance Bay your party is pretty much a sausage fest. Calsica should've been a romance-able companion, she had a great voice actor, unique personality, feminist friendly since she is a woman that doesn't cook, clean or shower (lawl, j/k, remember i'm fair game). Hollywood sucks, and even Disney is now starting to move away from romance despite most of their films being about them. Romance is cheap writing.

He only sends you if you are there to do what he asks, if you are not then but instead gone to talk to him like you wanted then he has not sent you, as you are not there for him. If you came along and asked me to kill someone because they are a big doody head, and I then go to talk to him to get his side then you have not sent me. If you asked me to go speak with him and I do so because you asked then you did send me because I am there on your behalf. Same here on my first playthrough, it just seemed like a total cluster**** situation that my character didn't want to get in on. Subsequent characters will though.
  17. I just want to clarify that, whatever I may have said in previous posts, I still do not want romances in Pillars. This has been a public service announcement for the Jazz, you may now resume your normal or abnormal behaviour (subnormal is banned by order of the Jazz).
  18. Race isn't irrelevant, Orlans for instance tend to be stigmatised, treated as savage and used as slaves in many countries according to the lore. Elves and Folk are indistinguishable in Aedyr due to their shared heritage culturally speaking and yet they still also have certain marriage 'traditions' involving cross-species marriage that shows they treat it as something different to same-race marriage. In Rauatai from the way Kana speaks the Amuna there treat the other races as 'client races', he makes a big deal of 'everyone is equal' but it comes across as more dogma than actually true. As fgalkin said, it's too early. I wouldn't even put their stage at late Renaissance, they don't even have the printing press yet and still use aquebuses. I'd put them on the cusp between Late Middle Ages and Early Renaissance, though it depends on which part of the world you are from as to whether there was a Late Middle Ages or not (Italy considers the Renaissance to have started right after the High Middle Ages, and for them it arguably did). The reason why I put it there is because while it seems to have some Renaissance era stuff (blunderbusses and wheellocks) it lacks the aforementioned printing press which our world had before wheellocks, but then it's not our world so naturally some things have developed faster and other things slower.

  20. Honestly if you have it go much more than x2 then you might as well not even have a range and just have it affect your party all the time regardless of distance. I feel that there has to be some drawback for going too far from the paladin. This is my opinion as a decent aura range, not factoring how intelligence affects it's range, assume I am talking about a paladin that has invested some points into intelligence to be an affective aura-dude. Yeah, I feel there should be more talents that affect how auras works in addition to the ones that actually give you an aura. Like how you get talents for changing how Divine Favour works for Priests.
  21. Definitely not x3 range. I would have no problem with having the default range stay the same and instead gaining talents that you can take to increase it's range or effect.
  22. That sounds like Bioware's ego stroking, and I despise that. Most of the guys I play tabletop with don't need it either, so I guess the tip should really be "Be aware of the type of player you have".
  23. Considering the fact that I wanted to play a kobold before I even knew about Deekin (who isn't how I would play him but I still like him), I would love to be able to play a Xaurip! Not sure if it should be in an expansion, but in a potential sequel down the line maybe...
