  1. IIRC it was the original Baldur's Gate. Never finished it at the time.
  2. If I recall correctly Sawyer was against it in New Vegas because it made lockpicking an arguably useless skill. Of course, he's designing the system from the ground up, so he might be balancing it with smashing doors and chests in mind.
  3. I believe the Paypal funding is still open, though the only tier available now is basically a pre-order for the game (http://eternity.obsidian.net/). Hope this helped.
  4. Yeah, they announced it a while ago (maybe even during the KS campaign?) though it wasn't a huge announcement or anything so missing it is understandable. Also some objects like doors are going to be in 3d IIRC.
  5. On one hand, I'm skeptical of their ability to fill an entire open-world, especially givent hat they want to make it really big. On the other hand, the improvements to the combat I read sound pretty spot-on and CD Projekt has shown a great willingness to improve and has plenty of talented developers, so maybe, just maybe they could combine tight storytelling with sandbox-y exploration.
  6. Well, it's always difficult to tell how much a game was advertised, especially when you're out of the market that gets most bombarded with this stuff (I don't live in the US or Canada, and here TV commercials on videogame are extremely rare with the exception of Nintendo's titles). I do get the feeling that it was fairly heavily advertised, a lot of websites had a Dishonored ad in some way, YouTube ran Dishonored commercials before videos, etc. It's no Skyrim, but I don't think they really spend that kind of budget on marketing for any game that isn't their flagship property.
  7. What do you mean by attention? It got a lot of press, and got a good marketing campaign from Bethesda, but as far as I can understand, it wasn't a smashing sale success on that level. Still, Beth was satisfied with the performance, and they're going to keep working on the IP, that much has been made clear.
  8. I like the illustration, don't really think much one way or the other of the deity description, given that I don't feel I really have much context to mentally place it "in the world" yet.
  9. what the hell did I just watch?.. I can't deal with Deadly Premonition budget PS2 game presentation and Resident Evil-inspired combat either, but according to the fanbase the game has a great Twin Peaks-inspired story.
  10. Correct term is vidya. Shame on the moderators!
  11. To be honest Redesigned leaves me a bit cold unless I tinker with it a fair bit... too many changes veer toward making every girl a bimbo and every guy a grizzled bearded dude. I was particularly disappointed with some changes to people such as No-bark Noonan.
  12. They also apparently had a bunch of projects in development that got canceled very recently.
  13. As long as it's just inspiration, given that using different races as proxies for real-world culture poses a number of problems.
  14. Ah, almost forgot, great avatar Darren!
  15. Really cool-looking, and I'm certain the folks at Obsidian really appreciated it
  16. Ubisoft's own DRM/service thingie. They basically use it for everyone of their games at this point.
  17. Going from various sources/rumors, Vigil is dead Shame, I had great fun with Darksiders (which, from what I understand, wasn't really grabbed by anyone either as an IP... makes sense given that it didn't sell so hot, but still sad). South Park *seems* to be going to Ubisoft, but I'm not sure if they resolved the SPS vs THQ contention.
  18. Many of the class concepts are promising, though the ranger and paladin sound a little boring, but it's good for Obsidian to include those concepts since it's clear that a lot of people care about playing them. I'm a bit ambivalent about the proposed armor mechanics right now, because it sounds like it might put a bit too much emphasis on weapon switching, which might get tedious when you have to consider a 6-PCs party, but the current plans sketched for attack/spell resolution sound spot-on. Overall, it was a pretty heartening update, and I actually liked what little one could tell of what *might* be the general scale of dungeons from the prototype screenshot.
  19. A Squirtle race would actually look p. awesome, imo.
  20. Sozzy looks awesome. Best contribution to these forums from Volourn EVER and anyone who says otherwise is A LIAR.
  21. I'm okay with any format so I voted the according option.
  22. Didn't BioWare simply use the PnP powers? I haven't tried Star Wars d20 myself, but I was under that impression.
  23. While it seems counter-intuitive, a way to enjoy the combat system a lot more is to avoid optimizing damage. In the original titles that was what the style meter encouraged, but now it's completely tied to damage :/ Also color-coded enemies kind of ruin that, but that should be mitigated by the additional demon/angel weapons in the final game.
  24. Going to copy-paste what Ausir said about it: Does this mean anything? Honestly I kind of doubt it, but the timing is suspicious enough that one can't rule it out completely.
  25. Yeah, not really, no, Steam's quality standards are as incomprehensible as Lovecraftian monsters are, and they let stuff like Revelations 2012 on their store without raising an eyebrow.
