  1. Doesn't the fact that it's concept art imply that it does not show the final style? We've already seen the amount of detail/style they're aiming for the environments anyway, and I'd expect that, given the amount of areas they're going to work on, the concept artists will focus more on conveying concepts and layout for the 3d artists (? dunno who handles the 3d rendering) to turn into actual pre-rendered levels. Which will then be touched up again by artists, from what I understand.
  2. Actually.. it did really sell well
  3. This doesn't mean much one way or another, given that there are games that went through development hell and came out critically and commercially successful and also appreciated by the fans (I daresay "good", but obviously there's a lot of subjectivity involved in giving such judgments).
  4. Looking really good at this stage.
  5. You get a physical copy from $150 onward?
  6. Graphics are honestly closer to the first Gothic and Ultima IX than KOTOR which looked substantially better. The interface also looks rather poor, and that's not a problem of rendering power or budget, just a bad artistic choice. Some of the concepts sound okay-ish, but ugh, difficult to be excited about this.
  7. I'm all jaded at this point, but it still gets me a tiny weeny bit excited to see Obsidian hiring again Good times.
  8. I'm going to assume you only saw the video walkthrough and didn't follow the updates at all? The game has social skills, they've waxed nostalgic on old school quest design (and offered a couple of examples from the game), and there is certainly more of an emphasis on questing than on combat for combat's sake.
  9. I... again, what? Aside from the fact that the original Wasteland had blob-like combat (think The Bard's Tale but with guns) and put a heavy emphasis on skill usage (it's where Fallout took it, after all), do you seriously consider these two criteria: 1) it's turn-based; 2) you use a party; as enough to say a game is striving to be more like Jagged Alliance rather than an RPG? If so, why?
  10. What? Neither of the games really fits that definition.
  11. ? They've already said they're using Unity and the tech they've built for Wasteland 2. Some graphical aspects are still to be decided and will depend on the funding, and the combat system isn't settled down because they feel agnostic about it, but we know everything there is to know about the engine powering the game.
  12. Hopefully there should be info on the Polish release too when Ubisoft releases more details on... the game's release (too many releases in this post). No info as of now. Does Poland usually gets games later? Otherwise, so far I wouldn't see any reason to assume that.
  13. Eh, I mistyped, I meant to say that the game had poor level design.
  14. Spiders weren't the ones responsible for the Game of Thrones RPG, that was entirely Cyanide. As long as Cyanide take care of the writing, I'm interested. Cyanide isn't involved in the project. This is Spiders' gig. Press release says as much.
  15. Deus Ex had little to no story branching but excellent level design and balance. Alpha Protocol has a lot of micro-story branching and forward thinking design in terms of character progression and story, but generally fairly poor story and balance. You're basically proving my point
  16. Deus Ex: Human Defiance is most likely the Deus Ex movie, judging by recently registered domains. Besides, uhm, I'm not sure if Deus Ex is a good fit for Obsidian, unless it was a game in the same setting but with drastically different gameplay (less immersive sim shooter/stealth and more downright RPG).
  17. They're using Unity. Whether it will go full 3d or have pre-rendered backgrounds depends on the final budget (pre-rendered costs more money). source
  18. I'm not seeing many publishers willing to sign PC only for a South Park-sized project, tbh, though the PC market is a lot healthier and getting a lot of attention, and I can see Obsidian getting the chance to do more stuff that previously might not have been as financially viable.
  19. Given development started so recently, there really wasn't any chance they wouldn't be targeting the new platforms anyway.
  20. I don't know if I agree, the success of services like GOG and PS2 Classics on PSN says otherwise to me. Though HD collections are still a cool thing and I hope the trend of good ones continues into the next generation of consoles.
  21. Difficult to say at this point, but I'd say that you're probably not going to enjoy a game that bills itself as the definitive South Park title if you don't like the property at least a little.
  22. Sure. I have no real reason to doubt that, though it doesn't mean much to me after Bethesda used "pre-alpha" as a way to call their content-complete preview builds Would be interesting to know Obsidian's internal definitions.
  23. Unless I'm getting my dates wrong, this build was after almost 2 years of development.
