Obsidian to co-develop MMORPG Skyforge with Allods team

Unless you understand Russian that video is likely not worth your time given there's VOs over Feargus. -
It's an early title meant to released on both new and old platforms and run at 60 fps across the board. You were seriously expecting them to compete with Crysis 3 in the looks department?

Wouldn't the meaning be "America was quite racist around this time"? It's pre-civil rights movement after all.

I asked Feargus to clarify his point on AAA and Obsidian's strategy given that many people here and elsewhere kind of took his talk for an admission that Obsidian wouldn't do big projects anymore and he was kind enough to offer a reply for GameBanshee. But basically, yeah, they'll keep working on games of that size, though he acknowledges that the circumstances are more adverse to independent developers now. -
"The challenges of watching TV". Every time I think PR lines can't get worse they somehow manage to.

Yes, it is. Though for some reason it looks even more mediocre than the PC version. Go figure. EDIT: Graphics-wise speaking anyway, I've played too little of the PC version to get a good handle of the gameplay and don't really want to open that can of worms.

LOL. That's almost as hilarious as a system that loses money on every unit sold for about 3 1/2 years. #NotMicrosoftFanboy #NotSonyFanboy That Kaz Hirai parody Twitter account is, well, a fake obviously, and takes potshots at the industry at large. He just recently tweeted about how the PS4 teaser wasn't meant to be blurry but just "a photo taken with the Vita camera".

PR wise doing another Kickstarter now would be bad.I think they need to prove themselves with the 1st one first and then do another Kickstarter. Especially since they really can't use Sawyer, Cain and Avellone marketing the next Kickstarter as well (not yet anyways) since they are busy working on Eternity. PR-wise doing another Kickstarter was hardly the end of the world for inXile. -
SW: The Old Republic Part 5
WorstUsernameEver replied to LadyCrimson's topic in Computer and Console
I can easily answer that. While in the DA:O days unfinished content like a Shale would be delivered free for buyers, in modern day BW they happily cut out chunks of fully finished content, like that DA2 party member or in this case the Cathar to give you something more to pay for... They aren't even trying to hide it under 'it benefits first-buyers above second-hand buyers' anymore... everyone gets screwed. As much as I hated the practice to cut one party member and only deliver it to very early pre-orders (people who basically couldn't read reviews at that point) why do you assume that it was budgeted for the full game and was ready when the game went gold (if not before), while Shale, in your own words, was unfinished content that was completed after the game went gold? -
If something needs to be cut because it can damage the game (not enough resources to implement it or whatever) then yeah, sure, I'd be understanding as long as Obsidian is upfront, transparent, and addresses it on time rather than keeping it a secret until we're close to release. I'd hope not, but development is finnicky that way. However, Sid Meier's objection specifically seems to be geared at features that aren't fun, don't work out as planned, and the risk of that doesn't seem very high with this project. Obsidian has promised mostly things that are either generic enough or that they have implemented more than once in previous games (strongholds for example), which hopefully gives them a solid understand of how to implement those elements and the budget required (as solid as that understanding can be in a changing environment with different tech, players having different expectations, etc.). If Obsidian had promised something like, say, a totally innovative reactivity system that dynamically crafts responses based on the characters' procedurally generated personalities, NPC schedules or stuff like that, I'd be more worried.

Are you playing Grim Dawn on low settings, Keyrock? I remember the game looking significantly better in developer videos, but maybe it's just my memory playing tricks on me.

While I hardly think it's time to cry doom about BioWare, EA clearly believes less in the BioWare brand, given they've renamed all the studio they had put under label with their original names. On the other hand, that was a pretty bad strategy, so in the long run it'll probably be a good thing for BioWare as there's no risk of diluting the name anymore.

It looks like they're gonna make this pitch, at least: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/05/08/obsidian-hoping-to-work-with-eabioware-on-star-wars/

First off he was at Zenimax Online, not the main TES team. Secondly, I don't think Skyrim was far into production when he left. ? I think you're confusing Ziets with Kirkbride here.

The game didn't look great and didn't exactly have a unique art direction, but unless one deliberately cherry-picked only the Saudi Arabia screenshots, it didn't really look like a military shooter.

Kirkbride's writing is awesome, but he sure could use being slapped and told "we're making a game bro, write stuff that doesn't end up in lore books".

Action-y combat in a KOTOR game would still be better than the stunted, non-functional RTwP we got with KOTOR 1 and 2 IMO.
-
While I really liked the art and the weird setting, the gameplay would give me headaches. Wish there was a demo for this sequel, so I can see if the combat still gives me problems.

I do find an article that didn't seem to get the memo that THQ never owned any Warhammer license a tad suspect, yip.
