  1. If you were cool, you'd wear it, take a picture of you and it and then post the picture in the Way Off Topic pictures 2006 thread.
  2. You want a recent picture? I took this barely 2 minutes ago! Beat that if you can!
  3. Nope, not very similar. I would guess about as similar as the Gamecube, Playstation 2 or Dreamcast. Why do I bring up those examples? Because there are emulators for those consoles too.. on the PC. Maybe they meant one of these? By the way: what is your reason for not believing the Ubisoft spokesperson? Why, Sawyer, do you choose to believe a rumour started by a Microsoft employee instead? What is the logical reasoning behind that decision?
  4. Yes, I did.. a few months later after they released that ~200 MB patch. In the review I wrote that the game had serious potential but in its current state it was too buggy and flawed to be recommended to anyone. I also made sure to tell the readers look out for patches because the game might become great if the developers fixed most of the bugs. I can recommend it now, to anyone with a powerful rig. Also, it is really cheap now. I actually bought it to get the nice box and a prettier, prepatched DVD instead of my ugly, box-less, buggy review copy.
  5. I tried the Night Watch demo today. It impressed me a whole lot more than the movie did. As usual with russian games the translation was a little off, but for once the voice overs were good. It was the first time I've seen the Silent Storm engine and I was impressed. The combat reminded me a lot about Jagged Alliance 2 and that's a good thing! The demo ended rather abruptly (or maybe my version just crashed?) but it sure made me want more. That's usually also a good thing )
  6. Yup, that was the rumour on the floor of this year's E3. If you feel you can bring it up from rumour level to fact level, be my guest. Until then, I care as much for this rumour as I believe Elvis lives. There's a rumour going around about that too, you know. Edit: Actually.. This is what was started the rumour (from Xbox360.ign.com, which has been removed since): "Additionally, Microsoft sources who asked not to be mentioned by name, claimed the demo, hidden behind closed doors at E3, was running on an Xbox 360 using a third-party USB PlayStation controller." A Microsoft employee started the rumour.. Gamespot's take on the whole ordeal: "Early rumors had the game running on a PlayStation 3 at E3. Soon, rumors flew that the game was actually running on an Xbox 360 dev kit with a PlayStation 2 controller running through a USB adapter. GameSpot News contacted Ubisoft to set the record straight. "Assassin's Creed was being shown on a PC emulating a PlayStation 3," a rep told GameSpot News. The systems were out of view, so we'll take Ubisoft's word as to what the game was running on." 7. Also, plumbing yourself comes with the extra risk of destroying your entire house if something goes wrong.
  8. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5281816467879887508 Disgusting more than funny.
  9. I did. It's a crappy platform game disguised in fantastic storytelling, characters and hippie graphics. I enjoyed everything about the game, but not the game itself.
  10. Oh yeah, speaking of stealth'em ups: Assassin's Creed: Click on the picture for the big version. The only game (for the Playstation 3) at this years E3 that impressed my pants off. "Made by an all-star Montreal team comprised of members that contributed to various incarnations of Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell and Rainbow Six, the buzz surrounding the game is understandably high already." Source: http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=64920 "Ubisoft's PlayStation 3 stealth-action title Assassin's Creed will offer downloadable content, co-operative missions and should be out in Europe at the beginning of 2007, according to the US Official PlayStation mag." Source: http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=65631 To check it out yourself in trailer form (if you haven't done so already): http://www.eurogamer.net/tv_video.php?playlist_id=367&s=l Or check out the official homepage: http://www.assassinscreed.com
  11. I think the phenomenon is called "wishful thinking". Just like those hordes of rabid fans that think the Infinity Engine would be good for another modern game, that Planescape: Torment was the peak of cRPG's and the ones believing that isometric views is not a step backwards.
  12. Nope. My girlfriend has been there two times already. One of my friends has been there for seven years in a row until this year. This year my girlfriend is working faaar north and can't go. My friend had a knee operation and can't go. My only possibility would have been to go with a female friend called Annika. She looks like a voluptuous supermodel with a dancer's grace. We would have had to share tents. Needless to say, I had to decline her offer.
  13. I gave it 7.8/10. I reviewed the unpatched version. It's really annoying when you genuinely like a game but you have to take every aspect into consideration. The two worst offenders of this are Vampire: Bloodlines and Boiling Point. At least I could recommend Bloodlines..
  14. I almost never get any packages or manuals. Well, manuals come occasionally, but never the box. My cheap chief editor thinks it's too expensive to ship a box in the mail when the disc (and the manual when it is small) fits well into an ordinary envelope. Oh, and often the disc is blue and silver and the text "for promotion only" (or something similar) is printed all over it, so it's even ugly. But it's all free so it's all good )
  15. Oohh, Timesplitters 2.. My cousin has that on his Xbox and it's actually great fun in split-screen multiplayer co-op. Actually, I bet it's fun even in single player as the humour in that game works. Also, if you play with a friend, make sure you grab controller one. That means you'll be the hero in every cut-scene while your friend will be (amongst other) a stoned hippie.. and a snobbish british officer.. It's great fun to hear your friend whine about how stupid he looks )
  16. Wow.. those crazy germans sure ruled my eighties: Alphaville - Forever Young Falco - Rock Me Amadeus Limahl - Neverending Story Modern Talking - Jeronimo's Cadillac Nena - 99 Luftballons Sandra - Maria Magdalena I'm missing Scorpions - Still Loving You from that list Edit: What the.. I found it!
  17. Crap. Edit: I take that crap back!! But we didn't win the group so we're out in the next round anyhow. I mean, Germany on home turf.. Wow. Now that's a challenge.
  18. Oh. My. God. I just found Tone Norum - Stranded. Check it out. Back in the eighties I actually thought the girl singing was super hot!
  19. I was playing Heroes of Might & Magic 5, but I got a bit bored with the necromancer dude they just assigned as my character. BUT.. (<-- a big but) While I was surfing around on the net I found a news tidbit about a tactical RPG called Night Watch (based on a russian book that was also turned into a crappy movie). It's supposed to be powered by the Silent Storm engine and it involves vampires. I am downloading the demo right now, so in a few minutes I shall see if it is any good. In any case, the game went gold today so it'll probably be in stores within the next two weeks. Night Watch demo: http://www.gamershell.com/download_12193.shtml Did anyone hear about this game before? Vampires, turn-based strategic combat, Silent Storm engine and it takes place in the modern fantasy world of the popular book by Lukyanenko.. It is bound to interest someone on this board.
  20. Are you talking about the superstars..?
  21. In Sweden, Kaftan is commonly referred to as a p.ussy (mus) ) Macho me was too intimidated by the whole thing (recruitment office was in a BIG CITY, wayyy too scary for a country kid like myself) so I didn't even think of the idea of trying to avoid it. But it turned out well, as I made some of my best friends in the army, I actually felt it matured me as a person and I learnt a lot of neat stuff while in there (Morse code, guard training, life preserve training, heavy vehicle handling, marksmanship and so on). When I look back on that experience I can't complain at all. I'M A MAN NOW! Edit: I am seriously getting sick of this filter. THE WORD IS USED FOR KITTENS.
  22. A building is only made to withhold its own weight vertically. As soon as a building leans over too much in any direction, it is crushed by its own weight, something which occured to those top floors.
  23. FOREEEEEVER YOUNG.. I WANNA BEEEE.. FOREEEEVER YOUNG!! )
  24. I don't think a glamour shot or a poster picture for a movie is a good indication on how she looks in real life. But it's absurd to take either one of them as "proof" of how masculine (or feminine, in your case) she looks. With make-up, it's entirely possible to make a guy look like a hot female. I just wanted to show that she does have some masculine features, I agree with Muso? on that.
  25. Ok, a smarter way to compare prices (makes it brand/store independant): Pricerunner's best price on Geforce 7900GTX: 4331 SEK http://se.pricerunner.com/computing/compon...s/576652/prices Pricerunner's best price on Radeon X1900XT: 3783 SEK http://se.pricerunner.com/computing/compon...s/555361/prices ATI is generally a bit cheaper for the same amount of performance, plus a few extra hardware tidbits.
