  1. My 3DFx Voodoo 5500 is also a SLI onboard card, with two GPU's. This is the reason why Nvidia bought 3DFx in the first place.
  2. XTX is not hardcore, this is hardcore! A combined AGP/PCI-E video card! Lovely )
  3. I can choose which girl I fall in love with just about as much as I can choose to become homosexual. I wish it would be that simple, but in reality it's not. Why would anyone ever choose to become a oppressed minority if they had a choice?
  4. I've been playing a little Heroes of Might & Magic 5 myself. Good looking game, but the balance seem to be a little off (or maybe I am doing something wrong?). I am at a map where I first have to defend a town from demons and then send out one of my heroes to join up with some army somewhere, but after I beat the initial threat I wanted to explore the map. So I took my time, built two armies (one to defend the town and one to explore with) cleared out the entire map (and underground map) and took over every resource available. Then I got bored and decided to finish the last battle, a garrison in front of the demon town. Imagine my surprise when I get there and the demon army has grown to THOUSANDS of demons! As an example, the toughest unit the enemies can get is named something like Demon Lord (or roughly similar). The garrison contains 500 of those! My own version of that bad-ass is called Archangel. I get 3 of those per week. I have like.. 9. The rest of the enemies come in droves of 2000+, 3000+ and even 5000+! Just for fun, I gathered all my armies and sent them into the garrison to fight. My 127 paladins (really tough cookies) died in one stroke from a pack of 5000 hellhounds (weak opponents normally) as they did 10000 damage in one round, before I had a chance to move.. Then I gave up. I just don't understand how the enemy can build an army 100 times stronger than mine when I own every resource on the map..? I realized while I was typing this that maybe this isn't a balancing issue. Maybe I am supposed to find that friendly army somewhere and they will be able to help my puny paladins conquer that bastion? I will try to find that army when I get back home in.. 8 hours or so.
  5. You do realize that to get the most out of a video card like this, the rest of your computer has to be top-of-the-line too, right?
  6. You really should refrain yourself from using those exact words on a nerd board full of horny teenage guys, especially if you're not one yourself
  7. Ohno! When I installed Oblivion, the installer stopped responding for me too. I closed it down after waiting for a minute or so. I haven't tried uninstalling it yet though. Same thing happened when I installed the game on my cousins new computer. Damn.
  8. Patch installed in appr. 5 minutes (or less, it wasn't very long at least, I just went to the bathroom and it was done when I got back). Game runs fine without problems (well, without any NEW problems, I still get weird graphics glitches with my Nvidia 7800.. mostly flickering textures). What is it that you guys do that gives you so many problems with this game?
  9. No, it was a deliberate decision from the developers as everyone kept complaining that the origianl game became much too easy by the time you reached the dragons. I thought so too. I did not think so with the expansion installed :|
  10. You are right, the extra chapters do indeed give players more xp before the final confrontation with the dragons. But the game is still much MUCH more difficult, because they changed the way leveling works. Without the expansion, you spent your leveling points on your skills and the cost for the skills went up as you became better. After a while, the cost didn't increase anymore as it reached a cap. That cap has been removed when you install the expansion, meaning the skills become extremely expensive after a while and you really have to plan your character well for the game to even be beatable! Also, I think the price for the skills increase much faster with the expansion installed..
  11. I loved the first game. Any game where I can blow up everything around me gets my vote. I will definitely be watching this one too! CO-OP!!
  12. One word of advice: If you're getting Gothic 2 now, make sure to buy Gothic 2 Gold. It includes the fantastic expansion Night of the Raven. The expansion pushes the game length up to and beyond 100 hours (I think) and it makes the game MUCH harder. Which of course isn't so good if your name starts with H and ends with ades. But for everyone else that enjoys a challenge a lot more difficult than a mere werewolf, it's a blast. Gothic 3 has a new breed of orcs. The storyline has made the orcs into a cultured race instead of the primitive monsters they used to be. I don't like the new look of the orcs myself, but I can understand the reasoning behind the change. Apparently it's now possible to join sides with the orcs and hunt humans instead! It will be.. interesting.
  13. Interesting numbers, for sure. I can't wait to see what developers can do with this piece of machinery when it finally hits store shelves. Sony are known for making un-orthodox solutions to hardware problems. I mean, the Playstation 2 is a beast to code for and it's not built like an ordinary home PC, but it works well and these last few years we've finally been able to witness the true strength of the setup (God of War, Resident Evil 4). I fully believe the Playstation 3 is in trouble as we've seen from the release delay (and not only because of Blu-Ray specs), but I also think this article exaggerates those problems. I mean, I've seen the Unreal Tournament 2007 demo movie, and any computer that can churn out stuff like that is bound to be one powerful piece of equipment. We'll wait and see. Funnily enough, I kind of secretly wish for Sony to fail. I would love to be able to play my vast library of Playstation 2 games on my next console, but for
  14. Dragon Quest 8: Journey of the Cursed King, Road Trip: A Road Adventure, Resident Evil 4 (not really a RPG, but soooo good) are the ones I've played the most on my Playstation 2.
  15. I'm writing too, but my works are just reviews of other people's hard work, where I try to be fair, objective, personal and witty at the same time. It doesn't always work out the way I want (damn you, deadline!) but at least I can see a steady rate of improvement from my first reviewed game to my last. I still regret having too little time and churning out an abysmal review of Call of Duty 2 though.. :|
  16. Oblivion is surprisingly bugfree, considering the scope of the game. That doesn't mean it's completely free from bugs, as there are a bunch of them in the game, but the game doesn't crash very often and I have so far never corrupted a save. Those are the most important aspects for me.
  17. Huh? I think my feeble brain must have lost why this would have any connection or relevance to me?
  18. I must say I prefer when they just scale down the weapon/armour/item models and place them in the inventory that way, before drawn icons. I think that's how they did it in Gothic and if I remember correctly the items were somehow animated when the focus was on them.. I think. Seems like a waste of time and effort to draw 3500+ tiny icons.
  19. Mercenaries: It's very much action, but it feels like a RPG because of its open-endedness. Much like GTA. GTA: Vice City & San Andreas: Not really RPG's either, but especially San Andreas feels like one. Also, they're very customizable and both are in third person view. Dragon Quest 8: Turn based battles in this one, but other than that it's a great game.
  20. And this is the same guy that's calling my opinions moronic.. Ironic. )
  21. People don't ask for links regarding information like this? Well, welcome to the real world, where not everyone will believe every piece of rubbish you write. You know, you're more and more beginning to resemble the infamous Epiphany.. Again, the PR statements has nothing to do with the discussion at hand. The only reason you brought them up was to mock a brand you don't like (ie. Sony), which in turn makes you look like a Microsoft fanboi. Yeah, in your own livingroom. Perhaps. But I guess you're here to provide us with one..? I love how you don't provide any links to anything and then, when faced with a link that actually brings something to the discussion, you dismiss it without any motivation.. I only know what I've read. Which I assume is about as much as you know? Or are you claiming you have first hand programming experience with any of the processors/systems? I call BS. Take a long hard look at your last post (the one I just quoted). Brimful with "valuable information", is it not? Oh, the irony..
  22. Yup. I was never claiming he got everything wrong, just that the way he describes the different processors is silly and fanboi'ish. Also, the article talks a bit about Out of Order vs. In Order processing, something which he mentioned in his post.
  23. First: learn to quote properly, your posts look like ****. Second: Only 7GB of the 7.95GB capacity of a dual-layered DVD is available for developers to use for game content. Source: http://www.gamersreports.com/index.php?sid=3138 Why you bring the hard drive into the DVD discussion is beyond me, but you're wrong nonetheless. Only 13 GB of the hard drive are available to the user, not 20; the rest is reserved for the system and games. Edit: Replaced a non-working link.
  24. webuser: Feargus Urquhart sternest: Further qua sugar. webuser: J. E. Sawyer sternest: Way jeers. And my only funny one.. webuser: Kirottu is gay sternest: It is OK guy rat. BWAhahaha )
  25. Yeah, so you say. It's getting old asking for this, but please provide links. Your credibility is not high enough that I would just trust your word. Opinionated BS. Check out the "report" IGN published that Microsoft sent them on how the Xbox 360 will be much stronger than the PS3 for "smoke and mirrors" if you wish. Bringing PR BS up is useless for the discussion at hand and only reveals the blatant Microsoft fanboi in you. Really? Again it's your own words without anything backing them up. Or do you have a lot of experience coding on the Xenon/CELL processors..? For a clue, read this: http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.aspx?i=2453&p=4 Compare this "description" of the CELL.. ..to this description of Xenon. Ridiculous. You've swallowed the entire Microsoft hype machine. Hey, when you're done wacking off over your Xbox 360, why don't you actually read up on the Xenon? BOTH the CELL and Xenon are "suffering" from being multi-core processors. It basically means more cores are battling for a finite number of transistors, which in turn means that each core is less powerful than a normal single-core processor. Xenon is definitely not an exception from this rule. By the way, while I was reading up on Xenon and CELL (to clear the cobwebs from my head as this discussion was last had in 2005) I accidently found out that the dual-layer DVD that the Xbox 360 uses is actually only capable of storing 7 GB of data for games. A single-layer Blu-Ray DVD is capable of 23.3 GB. So much for future-proof technology.
