Of course the CPU's will be different, but the basic theory behind the programming will be the same, no matter how many cores there are in the processor. And since none of the next-gen processors will demand machine code level programming from the developers, the relevance lies on the dev tools more than on the actual CPU architecture. Next time, go with the ATI Radeon X1900XTX instead! It's about equally fast, equally pricey and equally huge, but I've had a lot less problems with my ATI experiences than my Nvidia ones (have a problematic Nvidia 7800 right now..). Personal opinion of course.

I kind of like the Sony Vaio line-up of laptops. They're incredibly pleasing to the eye (slick, thin and chic) and carry some neat technology. Unfortunately, they're made by Sony and the price is set thereafter. I dont particularly like Sony after all.

Magneto is only level 4? I remember reading a comic book when I was young, and he was fighting the entire crew of X-men at once, and he kept lobbing cars, trucks and supertankers at them. When they still didn't give up, he lifted the entire city of New York and tried to crush them with that (or something) but I don't remember how it ended. I guess the X-men found a way to defeat him somehow. I loved that comic book.

Nope. For some odd reason, most games (not all) that get good reviews are also the ones that are the best selling. Your own examples (quoted above), Halo and GTA, are both in the top 20. You may not think that reviewer's opinions mirrors that of the popular opinion, but since the games we're discussing are the same no matter which opinion we choose to believe in, the argument still stands.

Gamerankings.com keeps track of most professional reviews of most games. Try a simple search, say for the 20 top ranked games of all time. Microsoft (Xbox) has 4 games among the top 20. Pretty strong showing for only one console. Sony (Playstation, Playstation 2) has 7 games among the top 20. Nintendo (Nintendo 64, Gamecube) has 5 games among the top 20. The rest is made up of old Dreamcast games and PC games. One might argue that since 4 of Nintendo's 5 titles are among the 6 best of all time (with only a Dreamcast game and a Playstation game breaking the dominance) the guy with the big Nintendo boner is right. But I won't go there.

I understand the concept behind Non-Disclosure Agreements, but I don't always agree with the way it's handled. It's like there's no limit to the stupidity behind the rules sometimes, when developers aren't even allowed to mention the genre, the colour of the logo or the amount of polygons in a lamppost in the middle of nowhere in the game. I understand that some information is sensitive (story, general artistic design, innovations etc.), but I also have the brains to understand that not everything has to be top secret. When information about a company you're interested in is withheld because of principle and not because it could actually hurt anyone/anything, then it becomes an annoyance. Especially American companies are known for this anal stance in the matter, for some reason.

How the hell can you fail jpg-compression in Irfanview? It's impossible! Ctrl-S to save, choose JPG in the list of formats, choose the compression rate on the slider to the right, press OK. Done. Ctrl-R to change resolution. Either press one of the Standard dimensions or type in your own, press OK. Done. Best program ever.

Excellent AI, disastrous level design. Not too excited about the expansion pack, unless they hired a level designer with a little imagination. The original's levels got repetitive within 10 minutes. Great action sequences though.
