You need to put your TV on a diet. It's fat.

Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later. Have fun golfing, Leafs.

How did you get Interstate '76 to work? I haven't been able to get it started for years.. Great game otherwise!

I still think Daggerfall is the best in the Elder Scrolls series. No other game since has had the same atmosphere as that game had (in the series.. not of ALL games ever). Also, it wasn't that ugly. I thought it looked good when it came. Of course there were plenty of flaws (which has followed the series since) but I absolutely loved the world and the climbing skill and the absolute freedom.. And the horse was cool :D

Vehicles is a must. And I HAVE to be able to drive one of these when I'm in Paris: They are the coolest cars ever! You can drive down stairs without breaking them, using their unbelievable suspension!

Because it's the American Way ©!! The bad guy must ALWAYS be ugly, must ALWAYS have an evil-sounding name and must ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS be a foreigner (from an American point of view)!! You can't go around killing Honest People Of The Land Of The Brave And The FREE, The TRUE Heroes!! Seriously, the team at Obsidian really should invest in a clich

It will sell 1 million because of Bethesda's great reputation (yes, it's true despite what most everyone on these boards think of Oblivion..).

If I'm assuming you already have the OS and peripherals (monitor + keyboard + mouse): $380: Case + PSU: Cooler Master Stacker 830 (1000W) $260: Motherboard: MSI P7N Diamond Nforce 780i + Soundblaster X-Fi Extreme Audio $200: CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz (or Quad core for same price but slower) $180: RAM: Corsair DOMINATOR 4GB (2 x 2GB, overclock friendly) $305: Hard drive: Hitachi Deskstar K71000 + $305: Hard drive: Hitachi Deskstar K71000 (2 TB superfast RAID) $195: Video card: EVGA Geforce 8800 GT 512 MB + $195: Video card: EVGA Geforce 8800 GT 512 MB (SLI goodness) $30: DVD-burner: Pioneer 20x something something (who cares) = $2050. That's a monster of a system. It will run everything but Crysis on MAX using very high resolutions. If you need a screen too: $290: Monitor: Samsung 2253BW 22" (2 ms, 1680x1050, looks good) = $2340 You still have money left. Buy a really nice mouse + keyboard combo too. Or some speakers, since I have no idea what you have beforehand. You can not only get a good gaming rig for $2500, you can get a monster of a system.

Just as a reference: I loved Deus Ex's weapon customization..
-
Unless game developers are stupid enough to stop providing XP compatibility, I have nothing to worry about. I'm sure I'll get along with my Firefox and my games just fine..
-
HEAR HEAR! Weapon customization is a must! This Norwegian has his head screwed on right! He's probably descended from Sweden..

Crysis is not really open-ended. Far Cry felt much more open than Crysis ever did. For some reason all the levels in Crysis were shaped so you never could get lost, you almost never had two or more ways to choose from, and if you did it was always a secluded valley with, for example, three bases that needed to be destroyed.. The powers.. Well, they looked good on paper. In reality you could either sneak your way through the entire game (making it too easy) or just keep the shield on and play it as a normal FPS. The skills weren't really used in any meaningful ways, except for jumping up on some unclimbable cliffs occasionally. The aliens.. Awesome graphically, a real let-down story-wise. I wish they could have done something smarter with the story. As it was now, I just didn't care one iota what happened in the story. I just wanted to see the next graphical show piece. A bit like the monkeys in Far Cry, actually.

As big as Oblivion? That sounds good. I thought Oblivion was a bit undersized, but they've thtreatened to make Fallout 3 even less big! Good to know it's at least equal in size Don't really care about companions though. I usually solo Fallout's. Much more fun that way.

Best Graphics Cards at Present and in the Future
mkreku replied to Magister Lajciak's topic in Skeeter's Junkyard
Maybe not the best and certainly not the cheapest, but: http://www.asus.com/news_show.aspx?id=10494 Four DVI-ports. That's four monitors at once. Woo! :D -
Bokishi seems to be the only person out there who wasn't disappointed with Crysis.

Biggest nonsense you've ever seen from a game.
mkreku replied to Tale's topic in Computer and Console
Oh yeah, rubber-band AI in racing games!! That's something that can make me throw the controller (I always play racing games on consoles) through the TV! When I make a huge mistake in a racing game, so much so that I get stuck in a fence for like a minute or so, and then return to the track only to find that the other cars have stopped and waited for me.. talk about immersion killer! And not to mention when you've done a completely perfect race, you've beaten the track record by several seconds.. and then you're passed on the finish line by a GROUP of cars rubber-banding behind you.. Everyone beating the old records just because YOU did it.. Holy crap, I get angry just writing about it. :bat: -
Biggest nonsense you've ever seen from a game.
mkreku replied to Tale's topic in Computer and Console
The default controls in the first Gothic. You had to focus on an object, hold down the action button and then press a directional button just to pick something up! Incredibly unintuitive and weird. I got used to it after a while, but that nearly killed the game for me. I'm glad it didn't. -
They did a gaming test in a Swedish online magazine recently (www.idg.se) where they compared the same games (and apps) on Vista SP1 to XP. Vista still lost horribly in most tests. I'm not switching yet. Source (in Swedish though): http://www.idg.se/2.1085/1.149702

My Leafs are playing well, despite the injuries. But they need some help! Philly must start losing! I'm actually hoping the Rangers will handle Philly on Tuesday. Then it's up to the Leafs to win over Boston. Twice.

I would post a picture of what I love about The Witcher, but since I'm under constant moderation, I don't think that picture would ever show up.. Just like the very first post (next after ~Di's, actually) I posted in this thread: gone.

What are the skills in this game?
mkreku replied to Cycloneman's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Well, since "shooter qualities" have already been confirmed we already know you're wrong. Time will tell if that applies to me too. My money's on some kind of diplomacy skill. -
It has no story whatsoever. Is that an RPG for you?

What are the skills in this game?
mkreku replied to Cycloneman's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
I agree wholeheartedly that diplomacy usually is a bit lame and way too important to ever pass up on, but history tells me there's going to be some sort of skill like this in the game anyhow. It's Obsidian we're talking about, after all. Maybe some sort of skill that you can steer in a certain direction, form flirty to persuasive to intimidating? Not all in the same build, but you can spend points to become an expert in one of the three fields? As always, time will tell -
Not really. The most famous Thornton I know of is Big Joe in the NHL. That's the guy that pops up in my mind when I hear the name Thorton. Oh, and the Firefox automatic spell checker gives an error warning for Thorton, but not Thornton
