  1. He did the sound design in Deus Ex?? I am still humming that damn main tune! And I loved the voice actors in that game! Suited the digital actors so well.. But gun sounds could have had a little more oomph to them though
  2. I want an open game world, you guys wants pixelated b00bs. I know one of us is going to get what they want, at least
  3. Dragunov, with adjustable sights! That's the one
  4. What I mostly look for in a game that's referred to as "open world" is the ability to do what makes sense in the world. If I see a door, I should be able to open it (one way or another). If there's a chest, it should be able to contain things. If there's a hill, I should be able to climb it. No painted on doors (a la NWN2), no chests that are as much background as the ground you walk on (a la a thousand games) and no invisible walls (a la another thousand games). Honest game worlds. I'm not saying that an open world game can't have any loading times or it sucks. I think of a game such as GTA as open world, even though it sometimes loads stuff. Same with the Gothic games: they stop and load occasionally. But compared to, for example, Neverwinter Nights 2 where whenever you do ANYTHING, there's a load screen.. That's pure level based. And I realize that it wouldn't make sense to make a game like this one huge continuous world (unless they modelled the entire planet and we had to sit on plane rides for 8 hours to go from Europe to Asia..), and I even mentioned this in my original post. What I do want to see though is several well-crafted, unique cities, preferably with a few surrounding areas. Like, if you land in Hong Kong, you'd actually be at the airport and you'd have to make your way to Hong Kong Island.. find your hotel room, set up base and then go out into the city to do whatever mission you have there. Implement vehicles and let us explore. Let us be able to enter skyscrapers in Mong Kok, take the tram to the overview mountain, visit Disney Land (ok, maybe not that..). Make it seem like there is more to the world than just that particular story-tied building you're supposed to enter. Then of course the same thing with Paris or London or New York or wherever the game takes you. And I'm not talking about having to model entire cities either, just large enough spaces for the player to feel like there's something to explore. Think GTA: San Andreas city sizes (it contains three major cities spread out over one huge playing area, with little villages in between) and a few surrounding areas. That's not too much to ask for, is it? (that and that they make it even better than Deus Ex, of course..)
  5. What kind of world are you guys building for this game? More like Oblivion/Grand Theft Auto/Gothic or more like Neverwinter Nights 2/Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic/Vampire: Bloodlines? Will you use the streaming map function of the Unreal Engine 3 (I assume that's what you're using)? Or will you settle for smaller areas with loading times in between every house entrance? A middle road where you have huge areas that only needs to load once you change country (I read about how you can fly to other destinations..)? Is this even a subject you've been discussing? Do you realize that this issue is important to a lot of players? Are you afraid to be accused of being on the open world bandwagon if you make an open world RPG? Will this be better than Deus Ex..?
  6. No tackling makes mkreku a sad boy Probably why I prefer hockey to football (soccer).
  7. I really like the Bourne movies (yes, even the second one, despite them killing off Franka Potente in it) so I'm hoping for a touch of Bourne in this one. An every day guy who has skills above the ordinary.
  8. Speaking of characters: PLEASE don't turn this game into yet another Disneyfied, stupifying game where every bad guy looks like a hobo with no teeth and every good guy (or girl) are tall, slim and muscular (or well-endowed if it's a girl). A BAD GUY CAN LOOK LIKE A HUNK TOO!! As for the perfect bad guy, check out Alan Rickman in Die Hard: sophisticated, hyper intelligent, verbal, handsome and horrifyingly ruthless. I want to see more villains like that, instead of the usual boring bad guys.

http://ballhype.com/video/pronger_stomps_o..._leg_new_angle/ Simon got 30, Pronger got none. I don't know, it really looks like he's stomping on Kesler to me. It just can't be an accident.
  10. You pimp his crates? You're a crate pimp?
  11. I think he looks quite ok actually. I am SO ****ING SICK of the usual American Hero Syndrome © that's appearing in each and every game nowadays: ridiculously small head, laughably thick neck, gigantic disproportioned muscles and some homoerotic snarl on his face. Often combined with a super-detailed oversized weapon that looks like it was taken out of a weapon fanatic's wet dream (not Aram's..). He looks quite average, which is good, even though I think he should be blonde.. like me
  12. I'm not so fond of the Desert Eagle myself, but I really hope they're going for an extensive weapons library in this game. It's so much fun to find (and use) different weapons throughout a game, even if they're not remarkably different. Just the idea of being able to choose your own favourite is so appealing to me. Oh, and I love this weird Russian sniper rifle that you can find in various games. Forgot the name but it's big, loud and deadly.
  13. Please, PLEASE don't let there be any psionic/magic/plasmid/whatever powers in this game! Just an all out believable story (except for the stuff where you get shot a billion times and survive , of course) without anything supernatural.. Oh, and PLEASE get a lot of inspiration from Deus Ex. Play it during work days. Play it during nights. Play it during breakfast. Play it while having sex with your girlfriends. PLAY IT! CONSTANTLY!
  14. You hired Herv
  15. Only Aram would notice that..

Good win last night. But still.. not. I mean, with eleven games left to play they are still seven points out. Winning in OVERTIME against their closest rival is better than losing, but still not good enough! And now they're basically at a position where it doesn't really matter if they tank it or not, they won't get a good draft pick anyhow. Unless they lose ALL 11 remaining games, but I don't think Bettman would like that
  17. Oh my god, Elvis lives! (Well, he's going to whenever I get my hands on that.. in a game)

I don't want them to miss the play-offs and I would be extremely happy (and surprised) if they made the play-offs this year. But I also want them to get a shot at a good draft pick number. Can't I both have the cake and eat it?

Leafs had a pretty good game tonight. But as usual it feels like too little too late. Let's hope I'm wrong. Still six points out though.
  20. I always thought it stood for Magical Chris Avellone..? HOW COULD I HAVE BEEN SO WRONG?!
  21. The thing about Pool of Radiance that really got to me was the positive and fresh atmosphere the entire town of Phlan radiated. I don't know how they did it, but they really made the story stick to me. Phlan was basically a town overrun by invaders (or monsters) and abandoned. Later they recaptured the dock part of the town and started it anew, now under the name New Phlan. There's a wall separating the old Phlan from the New Phlan and your job as adventurers is basically to regain the old Phlan parts of town, block by block, until you've figured out enough of the story to move out into the world. The old Phlan really is divided into city blocks, where each and every block has its own quests, its own special encounters and its own story and atmosphere. While you're scouting about, you always have the help of New Phlan's "quest master" (forgot the name, but it's a guy that hires adventurers and sends them out on missions). I still remember the feeling when I had battled in old Phlan for hours and hours and I got my first mission outside of town. The realization that there was an open-ended world outside the city walls was just mind-blowing to me! I had expected the entire game to play out in old Phlan! I'm so glad I still have my old Commodore 64 Gold Box games stashed away in my grandma's house somewhere. The pride of my collection!
  22. I had to vote for the PS3 even though I'm very reluctant to do so. The machine is just too awesome to ignore. Now that it's getting PVR functions too, there's just no way I'm going to be able to keep myself from getting one, in the future. DAMN IT SONY! It just has too few top games.. yet.

I'm glad he's staying. The Leafs need to find another way of rebuilding than dumping one their best players ever. Shipping away McCabe would be a good start. I can't stand that piece of overpaid ****.
  24. I wouldn't count on that yet. Yes, the 9600 is basically a cheaper 8X00 part with a misleading name. It's been compared to the Geforce 4 MX (which were cheap Geforce 3's in reality). But perhaps the 9800 is going to be the Geforce 4600 (the card that redeemed Nvidia's fourth generation) of this generation? As usual, time will tell.
