I think he might have hung there for a bit too long. Sometimes I just love the graphics in Gothic 3.. The world is very robust. If you see something, you can interact with it. There's no background. Everything is real. The mountains on the horizon? Climbable. Exemplified here by having the Nameless Hero standing on top of a castle roof.

Absolutely wild game between Montreal and Boston going on right now! Four minutes remaining and they're both scoring!

Bioware - Are Their Games Actually That Good?
mkreku replied to Humodour's topic in Computer and Console
Is it the lame "twist" in the middle of the game that makes you think this? Because otherwise it was just a consolified light-weight version of a ten year old game (System Shock 2) with crappier combat, five different enemies (seriously!) and the dumbest end boss (I was hoping end bosses died with Doom in the nineties..) ever. And how much fun and "ambition" did you see in the latter parts of the game? Or was it the Pipe Dreams mini-game that got to you? Wildly ambitious.. -
I thought the 790I chipset was for DDR3 RAM modules? I must have been mistaken.

What's the sweet point of such a world setting?
mkreku replied to bronzepoem's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Yeah, all this talk about RPG's having choice and consequences only apply as long as you can easily reload your game, right? Wasteland let you loose in a free-form world AND it made you actually fail some quests! Imagine that. You had to think ahead, you had to be careful, you had to take the consequences of your actions. Just as it should be. -
Just choose one using Nvidia's own motherboard circuits, the Nforce family. I could recommend the Asus Striker II Formula for example )since you seem to trust the Asus brand), but I don't know what price class we're talking about or what kind of features that are important to you. The Asus Striker II Formula is good for performance and overclocking, for example (my kind of board)..

Playing video games for boys is a sign of social competence.
mkreku replied to Moatilliatta's topic in Computer and Console
Go to any gaming forum and you'll see comments like "I love killing me some terrorist" or "kill the ****ing Arabs" in every thread about a popular FPS right now. It's absolutely horrible. For reference, check the Gamespot forums. -
Says the guy who can't type **** or even **** because the word is "harmful" (according to some unknown entity) to someone. Do you feel free? Don't fool yourself.

I sent my 7 year old half-brother Resident Evil 4 for his birthday. If he can't see the difference between reality and virus infected Spaniards, so be it. I honestly don't think that's bad for him. But this constant brainwash of the American youth through Call of Duty 4 or America's Army (or whatever it's called) is MUCH worse than seeing blood splatter from zombies. It teaches kids that certain nationalities means you can call them terrorists (like such a thing even existed..) and kill them at will. It's not quite reality (which is what they use for excuse for even existing) but it's close enough for noone to mistake the evil Arabs for brave Americans at least. Disgusting. Read up on Call of Jihadi and learn how hypocrisy manifests itself throughout the American society without anyone less than semi-intelligent noticing. -

They should do like they did in Wasteland: autosave every area continuously! No matter how much you tried to reload an earlier save, there was no point because the only thing that reverted back to a previous save state was your own party. The world remained constant! Just another thing that made Wasteland so unbelievably awesome.. And they say games haven't become easier.. BAH! Stupid Halo-generation.. -
Yeah, you mentioned one MAJOR drawback with all Apple MP3-players. Now, please feel free to explain the advantages of Ipods that somehow makes them ten times better than say, oh: The Iriver Clix 2 8GB.. Or.. Creative Zen 32 GB.. Both these players support more formats than any Ipod, they have better screens (both are OLED), the Clix 2 is prettier (debatable) and the both cost a LOT less than any comparable Ipod. It annoys me to no end this unsubstantiated hype surrounding everything Apple. Buying an Apple product is like joining a cult and actually enjoy throwing your money away on nothing.

You're lucky it isn't Gothic 2 at least. You couldn't be knocked down in that game, only die. Aside from the Ardea fight, I love the difficulty level of the Gothic games! :D

Does 40-17 in shot advantage for Minnesota tell you anything..? Watch the game at least before spouting your nonsense.
-
I'm seriously going to go 0/8 in my predictions. ALL "my" teams are on the verge of being ousted! Amazing.. Ok, maybe 1/8.
-
Minnesota and Colorado are playing like madmen right now! But it looks like Minnesota are somewhat sharper overall. We'll see.

The Gothic games actually let you carry exactly EVERYTHING in the game that's not nailed down without any restrictions what-so-ever. I always thought I'd be annoyed by that obvious flaw in perceived reality, but strangely enough it was the opposite way around. I got used to it before I even knew it and now I hate the inventory Tetris that's prevalent in every other RPG out there. Even the great Deus Ex has one of the most limited inventory systems ever, although it certainly suits that game much better than most games since each weapon you manage to cram into Denton's inventory makes you so much stronger.

Oh yeah, add Boiling Point to my list of great soundtracks! You really have to hear it to believe it.. It's very peculiar. And awesome.

I watched the Ottawa games. Except for game 3, they were badly outplayed. Gerber was solid, he didn't make any huge mistakes (that I saw). But the skill of Hossa, Crosby and Malkin combined were just too much for Ottawa to handle. And it didn't exactly help that Alfredsson tried to play injured. He was a shadow of his true self in this series. I'm very surprised to see them being swept like this though. Pittsburgh is a young team and I really thought they'd make more mistakes than they did. Also, I thought Alfredsson would be back in time for this series (which he was, but still injured) and that Ottawa's play-off experience would carry them through this series. I guessed wrong.

Who could tranlate it for me?

Got to love the fact that being a game designer/programmer is to demand the pay of a rockstar, the high profile of a celebrity.. and the job security of a McJob. Revolving doors, although written for entire companies, is pretty much spot on. -
Hitman: Blood Money always comes up in my mind whenever someone mentions "game soundtrack". They must have done something right.

Great, Ottawa sweeped in the first round. I'm 0/1 in my predictions so far and it's not looking good in my other predictions either

US Supreme Court to Decide if Child Rapists May Be Executed
mkreku replied to Guard Dog's topic in Way Off-Topic
I don't particularly care what the US does in these cases. I mean, you got your guns and your shootings and you're happy with that. But I would never want the kind of social climate that state legislated murder brings with it in Sweden. -
1. 2. (for the Alpha Protocol forum) I actually don't want too many animated smiley's around here. Makes the place look retarded.

Unnecessary, yes. But still a cool way to personalize your apartment as the souvenirs function in the same way as the useless memorabilia you drag home from every vacation you go to. You see the plastic bobble-head hoola-girl and you remember that sweet vacation you had in Hawaii five years ago. It worked the same way in Vice City; you were reminded of the cool missions you had already completed and forgotten about everytime you entered your apartment. Also, it's a neat way of showing the player how much progress has been made since the start of the game. Even if your own character has grown more powerful, you will have forgotten how meek he was at the beginning.
