Optional Expert Mode Features
WDeranged replied to IcyDeadPeople's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I didn't much like locational damage in Fallout 1&2, it was amusing for a while but it really does end up with you head/eye shotting everything...apart from when crippling Horrigan's legs won me the game, that was pretty cool Locational damage works really well in third person though, New Vegas and Fallout 3 both have mods which make it something really serious/useful.- 25 replies

I was pretty blown away by it at the time, it does quite a few things better than Skyrim and the exploration was more rewarding, I don't think I've so thoroughly investigated any other gameworld, somewhere in my brain there's a wiki's worth of information about Fallout 3. *edit* Jesus the ending sucked though

I've learnt to take each Bethesda game on it's own merits, so far they've all offered me something that I liked, Fallout 3 had some amazing moments if you can ignore a few hundred lines of derpy dialog. It makes me sad to think that we might not get another first person Fallout game from Obsidian though, New Vegas showed how it's meant to be done.

Thief 1&2 and System Shock 2 enhanced for modern systems
WDeranged replied to aVENGER's topic in Computer and Console
System Shock 2 is burned into my memory even though I never completed it, loved the atmosphere and mechanics...I also think it might have been the first game I stole from the interwebs -
Oblivion was the first RPG I fell in love with, over the years I've grown to hate it in all kinds of ways but one day I'll replay it and have a great time, with a stack of mods of course. Skyrim is a vast improvement in so many ways but I do miss the sprawling quests and dungeons of Oblivion, losing acrobatics as a skill has turned dungeons into a rat run and all the major questlines are over just a little bit too quickly. There's also something subtle missing from Skyrim, the background lore in previous games had a strange philosophical side and genuinely made me think about things other than my quest macguffin, not that Skyrim is totally lacking in meaningful moments but on the whole it doesn't feel as satisfying from that angle, at least as a game I thought it was great, loads of fun, hundreds and hundreds of hours of it, oh well. Currently I'm trying to play PS:T and Morrowind, real life is getting in the way of me actually being able to play them though
-
Bah, I last played New Vegas six months ago and I'm already nostalgic for it, I'm going to do my best to not play it for a few years...don't wanna spoil the magic.

I felt like that after Skyrim, the game was supposed to last me a year but I just blitzed it like an addict for three or four months, seen it all now. Also yay for Sawyer's mod, it makes the game insanely difficult at some points
-
You know when you spend hours and hours helping someone through a bad breakup and as soon as they're on their feet they go chasing after the person who made them miserable again? People suck
-
I rarely disagree with Sawyer but I'd sorely miss some exposition in the dialogue, even though I agree with the encyclopaedia comment; some of my favourite moments in PS:T are when I come across one of these characters. On the other hand if we could have Elder Scrolls style books in the game then I really wouldn't miss it, I just enjoy getting large lore dumps now and then.

1000 years of darkness!!1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wg14hRntRpg He should rather continue counting to infinity... What is it with Americans and these videos, all the pathos and appeals to patriotism, so cheesy...I want to nail his wife.

Downloaded Black Mesa and watched the intro before bed, looks fantastic but I'm having trouble actually playing games at the moment, have they announced when they expect the Xen chapter to be completed? Was it much trouble to get it running on Win7?

Assuming the OP is serious I'd still think this was a waste of resources, sorry. -
Experience for Killing Enemies
WDeranged replied to Jojobobo's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I vote yes to a small amount, hopefully not too insignificant because I do like getting xp in combat but save the big stuff for cleverly solving problems. -
Not having the charisma or a Reagan or Clinton is a severe understatement. Even Bush had a human element (even if that was the same human element primates have) - this guy is a robot, even his facial movements look artificial. I haven't followed the actual elections since the only thing Obama proved was that who the president is doesn't matter jack ****, the opposite party will block anything the president tries to do anyway - that means that as a foreigner, whoever the president is at this point affects me in no way whatsoever. But from what I've seen of Romney, it's that he is a ridiculous excuse for a politician and any party that chooses such a charisma black hole as him as a figurehead is on the way out. Looks like a good figurehead to me

the ALMIGHTY tab highlight...
WDeranged replied to NerdBoner's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I appreciated the tab highlight in Dragon Age but it also had the effect of showing you exactly how little of the world was interactive, there should no such problems this time I hope -
Project Eternity Wallpapers
WDeranged replied to Rostere's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I'd like some 1080p wallpapers, whenever I'm hyped about a game I like to plaster my desktop with it. -
are polls useful to obsidian?
WDeranged replied to vattghern's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I'd say they are, exactly how usefull I don't know but if I was in their place I certainly wouldn't mind them, also there are the fifty billion pages of debate that usually go with a good poll
