Forgive me for going off topic but, not really, both of those are opinions based on some experience. If you've played Obsidian games and find them buggy and if they are well then not a slur to tell the truth. Likewise with Bioware's romances, if you found them to be garbage then you should be able to call it that. It's not akin to calling the developers muppets or something. Noble to stick up for corporate brands though!

More hits, heh. Given what you've posted, using a term like bubble for others is nice backhanded jab. In any event, I'm not seeing Bioware bashing (not sure why you care if there is, moderator's job) people just using it as a reference for shoddy 'romance' in games. It is pretty hard to write a decent one, I'd imagine, and given the nature of this project - seems like a burn of too much effort on a tiny piece.

Meh, wouldn't read too much into that. Probably acting out of fear of US reprisals rather than anything else.

That's a hidden stretch goal. -
"I was really hoping there'd be more maturity on the Obsidian forums. Naive, I guess." Gotta dig that passive aggressiveness Interesting story Wintersong, you're a different DM than I've ever had - we'd not have gotten an NPC in the first place, hehe. How long did that player take to RP being with the NPC though, game wise ?

are polls useful to obsidian?

I sure as hell hope not. -
Just as an aside, you must be joking if images and caps are hostile, heh. Better outright hostility if it actually was, than being passive aggressive, though. Meh, this is such a worthless issue to have a discussion on, thinking about it. I blame this weird fancying for 'immersion' in games people have.

What, don't you want to be immersed, Twinkie ? Well, if part of the plot is your love of some woman, then the game/book/etc is a romance-X thing no ? Not exactly what's being aimed at here. Not only Bioware's romances are underwhelming or eyeroll inducing, CDP's or even some in adventure games (Runaway's sort of fits in) so it's not some dig against them or their legion. I'm not sure everyone who disagrees with romance in games is some min/max powergamer out to assail you pure RP'ers as you're hinting at, either. The pro arguments are about as nebulous as the ones you chose, as well, it's 'enriching' , 'immersive', etc.

I don't think someone asked the question: why do people don't want romances in game? When you get a book, or a movie, or any other media and it has a romance subplot - which is pretty common - are you like ewww, there's a romance here, disgusting? Do you advocate for any media in work to not have romances? Even if you have some sort of fictional work that in your opinion could do better without a romance subplot, I'm pretty sure it's about the subplot's quality and not the fact that in presents a romance. So if I take a point that good romance subplot enriches media experience in so many ways, why some people consider it so strange that I would like it in a game? Ah right, this line of thinking - wonder why it's so common. You need positive reasons for something, not negative, which is why I asked the question that prompted your passive sniping there, heh. Romance in games is always cheap and rushed out - consequence of the game not really having enough "time" and/or the designers just being garbage at it, I suppose. My experience with ME, DA, KOTOR didn't really feel more enriching if I hooked up as opposed to not hooking up, I guess there were some sappy lines though.

Would be nice to have a bit of Hitman in RPGs, well with a tad better AI. -
Well, war with Iran seems less likely under Obama, so it'd be okay if he won. But never know.

You two seem to be arguing two separate things.

Children

If they're in you should be able to kill them and deal with the consequences of that - ideally playing like it's a game of Postal shouldn't work in towns/settlements with guards and so on. I doubt it'll happen though, PR storm waiting to happen - "People donate money to a game where you can MURDER innocent CHILDRED", etc.- 117 replies

Borderlands 2 is pretty fun, my friends didn't rush ahead of me too much just made it to Sanctuary as Axton. So far so good, usual shoot n' loot, although I'm finding I run out of ammo easily (guess I can't aim). And yes, I found that slot machine and got blown up by it
