Space Fans: X Rebirth has a Release Date!
Oh jeez what the hell happened? The UI is bloody awful, I believe the diagnosis is consolitis. Just trying to imagine running a trade empire with this UI gives me a headache. Honestly I think they've completely stuffed up the trading aspect in this release. I don't see how baby sitting freighters is fun. No ability to automate the process, hiring crew just doesn't allow that in it's current form. Also I'm sorry but having to search those incredibly large stations for docking ports to find crewmen and traders, then having to search the station on foot for said crewmen and traders is not an improvement from X3. It's like simulating driving in peak hour traffic in GTA for immersion. And whats up with that map? That has got to be one of the worst I've seen for intuitiveness. With the removal of gates and the way highways have been deployed, I'm finding it a nightmare to navigate and get my bearings in the galaxy. Combat seems a lot easier too, just seem to be blowing up fighters for fun and doing strafing runs on capital ships. I do think combat has improved, destroying hardpoints on capital ships and stations is fun, just needs to be harder to do so. And freeplay...... No multiple race start with no choice how you start(always Otani with that girl as co-pilot), just dumped randomly. And in my case dumped in a battle between PMC forces and a Xenon carrier(which is the only time I've seen any Xenon ship). No Boron or Paranid in game, doesn't look like there is any Split or Telaidi ships in game either(there are npc models/vo though). Overall I'm pretty disappointed in the direction this game has taken, I can understand them wanting to streamline after the wall of information and windows X3 could throw at a player, I just think they've gone about it in the wrong way. Sure patching can do some good, but it's going to take a radical change to get trading to work well. A lot seems to been cut for minimal gains. Still would like to know the story of the great lice epidemic that caused everyone to shave their heads.

I only tried the Xbox 360 demo, but it was.. interesting. I would love to play more, but didn't feel it was worth getting it on a console, with the framerates so low and resolution so lacking. I will buy it on PC as soon as it gets keyboard and mouse controls. Which it has now. It's no longer early access.

And EA and Activision and Ubisoft. And 2K games, Sega, Valve, MS, Sony..... Probably be easier to list who we can't hate.

Things every self-respecting man over 30 should have...
I would like to understand the reasoning of just one bottle of alcohol in the house? How can you have scotch, vodka, beer, port and tequila in one bottle?

Cheat Engine? But you've gone from just bare hands to now with 'junky' melee weapon and fists. Which is a difference from just bare hands. Is it still stupid that you can kill twelve by yourself, yes. Could the game be harder, (which is why there is mods)yes. But given most zombie games have you killing 30 zombies every five minutes, I consider this a step in the right direction. Can you still screw up and get yourself killed, yes. Does it make sense to avoid zombies, given ammo and good melee weapon scarcity yes.(Although the workshop makes melee weapon degradation too easy) When the sandbox mode is released, and the game focus changes from completing the 'story', to surviving as long as you can, the survival mechanic should take a more centre stage. Never said it didn't have flaws. I could list many. What I said it was the best zombie game released in a long time. Big difference.

Eh? The combat in State of Decay is comically easy, probably to make up for how shallow and clunky it is. Whenever you run into zombies it's a one-sided slaughter where one person can take down a dozen zombies with his or her bare hands before needing to Twinkie up. No, just no. Without a weapon your pretty much dead when surrounded by a dozen zombies. Add to that how quickly your weapon degrades and your limited stamina, it makes avoiding zombies the better tactic. Especially in Marshall. Yet no one else has. Most zombie games are just about the slaughter, this one is about building a community to survive. This is about the only game that actually tries to simulate survival in the zombie apocalypse. Dead State would be about the only other, which unfortunately, isn't out yet.

State of Decay, easily the best zombie game released in a long time. One of the few games where you spend most of the time running away and hiding from zombies. Just lost my highest skilled character and his companion when I triggered two hordes while trying to scavenge some precious ammo.
