Ydwin
Night Stalker replied to Tenaya's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I don't think people ever stopped posting that they wanted Ydwin as a full companion. -
Just to make sure, you did finish Pillars of Eternity 1 right? You got to the final encounter, killed the boss and made the final choice, the ending slides popped up and showed you the consequences of your choices, the credits rolled and then you were sent to the main menu? Have you made any kind of clean-up in the meantime? Deleted your old PoE save games? Moved them to another location etc.?

Unless of course the investor wanted the game shipped on a certain date come hell or high water - like when Obsidian had to chop up large parts of Kotor II: The Sith Lords ending because Lucars Arts wouldn't give them an extension on their agreed development time (as was their right, to be fair): (Source)

As far as I understand Josh Sawyer is at least partially in charge of overseeing the balance changes, as he was on PoE1. He has on multiple occasions made it clear that he strongly believes that balance matters, even in singleplayer CRPGs. If you want to make your opinion heard or vent, please go ahead, but know that more balance changes (both up and down) will come.

I don't know what modding toolkit you are referring to. Deadfire is more open for moďding as it is far more data-driven, and this data is in .json files, but making complete new area is still seems beyond modders abilities. Also, you may want to use the official nodding forum subsection in the future

I think and D:OS2 did EA, and that game sold well, and never really seemed to go away. I wonder how Larian experience the EA process (and InExile for that matter with Wasteland 2). Honestly, for me the notion of EA and RPG seems like a strange one - I don't like the idea of having my progress invalidated because of a milestone upgrade or having fundamental features being patched in later (Obsidian releases buggy games, no doubt about it, but at least I can play them from start to finish, that was not the case for D:OS2 or Wasteland 2).

I have yet to make it thru an entire play thru that didn't erode into a mess of bugged quests requiring me to abandon and delete those game saves. I meant, have you tried playing through the intro once after you installed the beta patch and then tried to start a new game? From what I have heard you should be able to skip the intro then.

Next Patch?

They've mentioned that it should be out some time in early June.
