Considering that Obsidian is a black rock, I don't think you have to go that far into the past.

God Challenges Feedback!
Night Stalker replied to Aarik D's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Announcements & News
Ah, so it's a realistic child simulator. -
MS, or anyone else, has not yet acquired Obsidian as of this post as far as I know. It may happen in the future though.

Perhaps they want to? Either because they want the money or they think it is genuinely a good idea. Perhaps Obsidian is in bad financial state right now, or perhaps they have projected they will be in a bad state as a mid-sized independent company in the industry in the near future (financially or structurally). Who knows?

I do not understand why consumers want exclusives to exist. Isn't the best scenario that we can play what we want, anywhere at anytime? How do we as consumers win with games being shackled to a specific platform? The only good thing about exclusives is that some games that might not have been funded otherwise do get funded, but even then if you own the platform you only get to know of its existence.

My version of GoG Galaxy installs to "D:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\" I made a fresh version of the Patchwork application - I didn't change anything major, but I have made sure that the settings file is completly purged, so there will be no leftovers or references to the mods that the author of the old version made - try giving it a spin. You can find it here (use the "Download" option in upper right corner).

I looked around and I found out that the base folder values are found in settings.pw.xml (open it with notepad or whatever you use for plain text editing) - so if nothing else, you should be able to edit them there manually. Mine looks like this: <?xml version="1.0"?> <Settings xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <Instructions> <Instruction IsEnabled="true"> <Name>Combat Log Exporter</Name> <PatchPath>D:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Pillars of Eternity II Deadfire\Mods\CombatLogExporter\CombatLogExporter.pw.dll</PatchPath> </Instruction> </Instructions> <BaseFolder>D:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Pillars of Eternity II Deadfire</BaseFolder> </Settings> The BaseFolder value is the one you'd want to edit. Also, how long did you wait before terminating the task manager?

I think this is my problem right here but Patchwork seems to be *hardcoded* to look at "C:\games\..." which I have no clue how to override. It should be looking at "G:\Steam\steamapps\common\Pillars of Eternity II\PillarsOfEternityII_Data\Managed" for me specifically because "Assembly-CSharp.dll" *is* in that directory. I don't think that is it. I have my GOG install on my D drive, and it works just fine for me. What is the version number of Deadfire? Which, if any, of the DLCs do you have installed? Which version of the Patchwork framework are you using? Have you made sure you have installed the correct .NET frameworks the readme points to? When that screen appears, the mod has not been installed successfully - the "Test Run" button will help you check whether the mod can be correctly installed without launching the game.

Have you experienced any errors running my mod though the Patchwork framework? I am only getting an error the first time I run the framework (and no errors thereafter), and none when I run the mod itself. I just tested it with a brand new download, and my mod runs fine just fine. I have uploaded a new version of the mod that will only include combat messages, before that filtering was a bit iffy, but I found a solution.

The last I heard the console release was targeting Q4 - so I would expect it sometime in December at its earliest. There have been no news what's in store for the future of the franchise. The chance that PoE3 will get COOP is so close to zero it is not worth thinking about - it would require a major redesign and reimplementation of most of the game.

v3.0.0 is now available on the Beta Branch
Night Stalker replied to Cdiaz's question in Patch Beta Bugs and Support
They claimed that this was fixed in 2.5, but I haven't checked. -
Before we get ahead of ourselves, the relationship system is not the only thing preventing Obsidian from cranking out companions. In order to make a substantial companion you will also need to do a whole lot of writing, design and implement a quest and so on. In fact I have to ask the people wanting new companions (I personally feel there's enough) where you draw the line between sidekick and companion? A) Is a sidekick that has lots of dialogue, interjections, but no personal quest not integration with the relationship system nor thematically integrated. B) Same as A, but also thematically integrated. C) Same as B, but also integrated into the relationship system. D) Same as C, but also with a personal quest. Which one of these do you feel crosses the line from "sidekick" into a "functionel" companion?

a) We got more Ydwin content in Beast of Winter, if they were going to upgrade her to full companion status that would have been a logical point for Obsidian to do it - they did not. b) Josh Sawyer recently made it clear that upgrading sidekicks to companions is to resource intensive to be done willy-nilly. c) Ydwin was an incentive for a stretch-goal that wasn't hit. This is a more esoteric point, but I feel that if a stretch-goal isn't hit, then the incentive shouldn't be implemented - after all if we knew the incentive was going to be implemented anyways, then there will be less hype about hitting the goal. d) Having almost completed Beast of Winter I can say that I have taken a dislike to her personality, so I am happy they didn't spend time or money on her. This is of course a matter of taste and you are free disagree.
