Weather was crap early this week, so watched several movies on my days off. Shutter Island, which I thought was an excellent film. 3:10 To Yuma Young Guns The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada Fargo O Brother Where Art Thou Dune, extended edition. Shutter Island is the only film I hadn't seen before, but I liked them all.

Same. Assassin's Creed is one I'd go back in a time machine to stop myself from buying.

AP did a good job of making me feel like an idiot for some of the choices I made. Every time I saw the consequences of what I'd chosen to do, I said to myself, "Well jeez, when you put it that way... D'OH!"

Played the game twice now, just finished my second run 20 or so minutes ago. First game I kinda scattered my skill points around a bit, tech + sabotage + pistols + rifles + martial arts, because everything just sounded cool, heh. But I never really got good at anything. Second game I went pistols and martial arts with some sabotage and toughness thrown in. I missed the rifles, but only until I maxed out pistols. Similar experience in both games. What can I say? Melee'ing the bad guys is fun. Awesome fun. Makes me wish Mike made some Bruce Lee noises once in a while. As others have said, knee-to-the-head + stomp = win. But things can get a bit difficult when closing range, or in a crowd. Of course that's where chainshot comes in. All I've decided about my third run is that I'm gonna try a recruit. Played as a freelancer the first two games.

Mass Effect was a 12 gb download, give or take, and I remember it took a lot longer than Steam said it would. That said, it was worth the wait. AP is also worth it.

Obsidian working on a patch
mr insomniac replied to WorstUsernameEver's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Same here, no overtly noticeable bugs anyway. Wouldn't mind if some of the gear wasn't so expensive. Poor Mike is always broke, heh. -
Thanks for the link, Krezack. It appears Portal 2 will be an amazing game. New characters? Different voices? Multi-player? Where's Purkake with a I just ****ed in my pants .gif? I wonder if I'll have to upgrade my GPUs to play it. Or maybe finally buy a PS3. Portal 2 may be the game that decides it.

Suggestions for Dungeon Siege III
mr insomniac replied to Irrelevant's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
Myth: The Fallen Lords incorporated rain effects into the battles quite well, I thought. Just a simple thing like the molotovs thrown by your dwarves going out before they could explode. Didn't always happen, just when you really really wanted it to. Thing about it was, each mission in Myth was separate from the others, and weather wasn't random. -
RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!, just a dumping ground

Ahh, more GLaDOS. All is right with the gaming world. -
For some reason, his description of the voice acting reminded me of watching his reviews Funny how he calls "Sega" crafty ------- for the replay value when he probably has no intention of ever playing the game again. Still enjoyed the review. It made me laugh, and it also made me want all those other options for getting the kitten out of the tree in my next crpg too.

I never really interacted much with Michael, but I remember first encountering him as Visceris on the old BIS boards, discussing something about PS:T, I think. Traded a few comments with him here, almost always in disagreement, but never got to know him as anything more than one of Obsidian's forum personalities. RIP.

As long as I can play Mass Effect 3, Halflife2 Episode 3, Portal 2 and Alpha Protocol 2 before it all comes crashing down, I'll be happy.

Sigh. The way the Hawks have improved over the last few seasons, it was only a matter of time. Hopefully I'll be saying that about the Leafs soon. Congrats to the Hawks, they deserve it. Well you'll get some good draft picks... oh wait... I know, I know. Still, Kessel did miss the first six weeks, and still got 30 goals without a decent centre for most of the season. And draft picks are a gamble. And Toskala is gone. (just had to throw that in there as a reason for optimism).

First review in awhile that made me lol. Specifically the "love of his country" bit.

Just got the game in the mail today, so am still on my first playthrough. I know it won't be my last. I guess I have to consider myself luckier than most, as I haven't run into any noticeable bugs during gameplay. The initial install stalled itself, and I had to re-install, but everything went smoothly after that. Also load times are barely noticeable for me. Haven't had problems with a jittery mouse, at least not that I notice. I've just finished Saudi Arabia, and the game hasn't crashed once. Since ME2 is the only game I've been playing for awhile I'm still suffering from a sort of jetlag, and expecting AP to play like ME2. I'll get over that soon enough. My only nitpick is that controls could be a little easier to use during combat. Mike seems to not want to use medkits at all. But again, I know I'll get used to the way things work in AP soon enough. The minigames are okay, now that I've gotten used to them. I expect they'll get more difficult as the game goes on, but they're not game-breaking. In my opinion the graphics and animations are good. Outdated? Bah. Whiners. CQC kicks major ass, and anyone who disagrees just hasn't tried it. I find myself charging enemies instead of shooting them, just so I can kick the crap out of them. Dialogues and choices are a blast. As I said earlier, I've only just finished Saudi Arabia, but I'm already looking forward to seeing how my choices will play out in the end, and thinking of how I'll do things differently next time. I say congrats Obsidz, you've got a winner here. I'm looking forward now to F:NV and DS3 (and maybe AP2 down the road?) with new enthusiasm.

I'm late to the party, but my copy finally arrived in the mail today. Just installed it and began playing. Well, the only game I've been playing recently up to now has been ME2, so making the switch from ME2 controls to AP controls takes a little getting used to. Kind of a "crap, that's not how you do that in this game" thing. I keep expecting Mike to turn around and give me the finger as he blunders his way through security cameras and into the middle of guards. On the plus side I'm getting good at hacking alarms. I was about ready to give the computer hacking up as a lost cause, then I actually saw the unmoving bit of code, and it was like those 3D art posters that were popular awhile back, where you kinda had to unfocus and look through the picture to see it. Once you figured it out, you saw the picture every time. I'm not far into the game at all - just talked to Westridge on a big ass TV screen (Mike's words) for the first time - but I'm getting into the whole spy thing already.

That was amazing.

He was Odo, the changeling dude on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

In other NHL news: Yzerman is Tampa's New GM. Interesting. I think he's done a good job for Canada at the international level, but then he typically had a greater talent pool and never had to manage a salary cap. Good luck Stevie Y.

As far as Hossa goes, when his career is over, I'll remember him more for nearly ending Bryan Berard's career than all the times he didn't quite win the Stanley Cup. Okay, I can't lie, I'll remember those too. Flyers in six.
