AFAIK Steam lets you make backups of all your purchased games. Just right-click on the game in your library and choose "Backup game files" EDIT: Haven't put much time into F:NV yet, but so far I'm liking what I see. It's strange switching gears from Borderlands, which I've been playing exclusively for the last little while.

Nearly finished with everything Borderlands. Well...still doing the 4th DLC, am a bit bored with collecting claptrap parts for Tannis. A new patch (1.4.1) will apparently be released soon that will increase the level cap again, up to level 69 for those who own the General Knoxx DLC, level 58 for those who don't. Gonna take a break from Borderlands until the patch is out. My F:NV CE arrived in the mail today, am installing it now.

I was amazon.ca was like that. All my pre-order confirmation email says is the estimated shipping date is Oct 22nd. Ah well, gives me some extra time to finish up the Borderlands DLCs.

Leafs are 3-0! Woo! I just looked it up and last season it was Nov 21st before they recorded their 3rd win. Holy crap.

Seeing as how all the NPCs are potentially expendable, you could say that for any of them. I mean, since you can only take any two on a given mission, and any mission can be completed with any pairing, any of them could be cut and it ultimately wouldn't matter a bit. So what? NPCs in any game are as important as a player wants them to be.

They'll have Mass Effect 3 to fall back on.

That's the last game I buy from Obsidian...

Do I hear "ME2" here? What do you think of that game game? And if you like it, why do you like it THERE. ME1 had wide planet exploration with the MAKO, and apparently people (not me) hated that, so it got "fine-tuned" into corridor shooting, and everyone praises the crap out of it now. Wide planetary exploration with almost nothing to find in it, apart from some good-looking skies. More like BG in that respect. And it wasn't the exploration part that drove me nuts, it was driving the MAKO over mountains, etc. Bleh. ME2 had a fair number of side-quests, if you went looking for them. I would have loved more missions in AP. But for me, linear or not, what we were given worked. It was the first time in these types of games that I tried to successfully stealth my way through, and use the cover provided. I thought Obsidz did a pretty good job on levels like the airfield in Saudi, or the hotel in Taipei. -
Finished the main campaign of Borderlands last night. Anyway, 35th level Hunter, and put most points into the sniper skill tree. Caustic sniper rifles are awesome... erm, provided the enemies aren't immune. Still have two DLCs to play through and then debating whether to play a 2nd time with this character or start a new one.

Wow that was a fast sellout, unless they didn't have many in stock to begin with. I got mine from Amazon, but I didn't place the order all that long ago.

I regret now that I put off playing Borderlands for so long! If I'd known how much fun it'd become once I leveled up a bit and got decent gear, I never would've shoved it aside for other games. Sniper rifle that does 300 damage, and a class mod that gives me regenerating sniper ammo. Booyah. Okay, I'm sure there are better weapons later in the game, but right now it's all I'm using. Also, anyone who makes DLCs or even expansion packs for games should be forced to play the Zombie Island of Dr. Ned and take notes. That was awesome. Mad Moxxi's Underdome not so much. It's brutal in single-player mode. I might go back to it after I finish the main game, but I might not. General Knoxx and the Robolucion will definitely be kept waiting til I find the vault.

Was going to say I'm dividing time between PS:T and Borderlands, but it's been exclusively the latter. Just reached New Haven and decided to sidetrack and play a DLC or two. Currently investigating the Zombie Island of Dr. Ned. Great fun.

This problem actually exists in the vanilla version. You can fix it by turning on Software Mirroring in the video options. Ah, thanks very much

Planescape:Torment courtesy of GOG. Haven't played in several years, and it's definitely a treat to go back. Got out of the Mortuary, wandering around the Hive, already fought some thugs and talked to Ingress. One semi-amusing glitch, and I dunno if it's a side effect of the widescreen mod, UI fix or both, but characters won't turn to face the direction I want them to move in. Most of the time they walk sideways or moonwalk. It's a little bizarre, and even happens in combat.

Thanks This is the link I had awhile back I could never get the game to work properly, even following the instructions to the letter. This time however, so far so good. Should note, in case other run into the same problem, I had to re-extract and re-install the UI fix, the Unfinished Business and bugfix mods several times before they worked properly. Bit of a pain but worth it. The game is a masterpiece without mods. It's eminently playable without them and it might be worth doing so your first playthrough. Well, it's been a few years, but this isn't my first playthrough, not by a long stretch. Torment is my favourite game. The UI-fix is a must have. The other stuff is up to each player, of course.

Poor Borderlands. Since I bought it, it's always been pushed aside for another game, whether it be ME2, DA, AP or L4D2, and I was just thinking that with two days off from work, I should finally get back into it. Then I checked this thread. Now I just have to find the link for that widescreen fix.

I completely agree. It was very well done, and it did make the last bit that much better, and as much as anything else, made me want more post-Serenity stuff. I knew absolutely nothing about the show before I saw Serenity; I only ever picked it up based on a friend's recommendation, and there I was, thrown for a loop like LadyCrimson, yelling at the screen, "What??? NO!" after 90 or so minutes in the Firefly universe. It should not have happened.
-
The extended cut makes the movie have much more sense/coherency. Let those who hate Alien 3 hate it, I liked it (the extended version). Saw Serenity. I've seen it twice now, not sure what to make of it. Sort of redundant if you've seen Firefly, not sure if it would be any fun to watch if you haven't. I should dust off my Firefly boxed set and get watching from episode 1 again. The Firefly box set should never collect dust in the first place I loved Serenity, except for that one part near the end, when that thing that should never have happened, happened. I saw Serenity before ever watching the TV show, and in most cases that would have spoiled me, but not in Firefly's case. It is pure awesomeness from beginning to end.

I have to say I think Meer's work in ME2 is greatly improved over ME. His voice seems to fit Shepard a lot better this time around. Jennifer Hale, OTOH, while still awesome as always, seems a bit lacklustre in places in ME2... *looks up nervously* was that thunder? That car chase was awesome. Yes. Yes it was.

Just finished Lair of the Shadow Broker. Impressive and fun to play, good pacing, never felt bogged down anywhere. Bio really raised the bar for future DLC/expansion (if any) and for ME3. Although I haven't tried this yet, I think it makes more sense to play SB 'in-game' as opposed to post-game, if only for the upgrades, etc. Have to say though, Bio should release a patch that increases the level cap and scales the enemies accordingly. Hell, I hit level 30 well before gaining everyone's loyalty, and that's without playing SB before the suicide mission. I've read somewhere the level cap can be increased via the coalesced.ini, but dunno if that scales enemies past level 30 too. Anyway, definitely worth the purchase. Adds a lot to the game.

For those who have played the Shadow Broker DLC: Does it make a difference whether I wait til post-suicide mission to play this? I'd prefer to play through it 'in-game' but if it makes more sense to wait, I'll do that. As an aside, I just played through the Overlord DLC. Quite enjoyable, but dear god, if anyone had any doubts about the hammerhead being a POS from the firewalker missions, Overlord confirms it.
