"Sir, this loan application says you want to buy space in a disaster vault so that you can survive the coming apocalypse?" "er... heh... yeah, that's right." "An actual apocalypse?" "well... yeah... it's coming, you know." "DENIED"

Chances are nice. *shrug* I wonder if they'll ever change the rules so that getting close to scoring actually counts! *shrug* This. If scoring chances counted, not only would Jason Blake have potted 50+ per season over the last two, but the Leafs would be in the playoffs now.

Unfortunately for the Sharks, that seems to be the case every year. It's too bad, I've always kinda liked them, and they're too good a team to pull this disappearing act.

Agreed 100%. Brett's portrayal of Holmes was what persuaded me to buy the books. But I thought Downey had great onscreen chemistry with both Jude Law and Rachel McAdams.

Montreal. I won't be going 8 for 8. Stupid Ovie. Not even a shot on goal?

What developers think about Scratchware Manifesto?
mr insomniac replied to obyknven's topic in Developers' Corner
Funny Yeah! This means: Best RPG of 2009 is disappointing. http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/dragonage/s...&pid=920668 When old games is better than new, it is called the degradation. I dunno, I think it's more a reflection on the reliabililty of internet polls. That poll doesn't even show how many people voted. And in the comments you link to, one person said they almost voted for Risen and they hadn't even played it. -
Just saw the new Sherlock Holmes. I'm a fan of Sir Conan Doyle's original works - I've read all the stories more than once - but I don't care how faithful Ritchie's film is or isn't to those works. I enjoyed the movie a great deal. Also saw The Men Who Stare At Goats recently. Disappointing. It had such potential, but it really ended up not going in any one direction with it.

Funny how, on the very same page, there's a link where RPGWatch gives Dragon Age its Game of the Year Award for Best RPG. Hmm. -
Well you didn't pick any sweeps so you're still okay. If Washington loses tonight...

Hold on! This can't be read on SDTV!
mr insomniac replied to ginji's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
This. Admittedly I don't own a console and don't play games on a TV but other videos I've watched for games, even in HD, don't have the same appearance as the actual game on my screen. In any case, who's to say the settings for the game shown in the video are anything other than default settings? A person could always rent the game first and see how it looks before buying. -
I've read that Kasumi's mission is approx 1 hour, maybe a bit longer. IIRC Zaeed's didn't take that long, but then I've also not done his mission yet on this playthrough. With Kasumi you also get a new weapon, among other things. Does this justify the price tag? Can't say, but I like her character so far, after just the initial conversation. Couldn't say the same for Zaeed, although I found him to be a useful squadmate on quite a few missions. Can't say yet how useful Kasumi will be. Gotta get her on the team first. But I don't mind that she's not free. If I end up not liking her I'll just say she lived up to her reputation as the galaxy's best thief. She stole my $7, heh.

Just encountered Kasumi in my current playthrough. I like her already and I haven't even begun her mission. Sad to hear that all she does once on the Normandy is tell stories a la Zaeed. Maybe they'll both be full characters in ME3. Also have to say it's easier to get back into ME2 after leaving it for awhile than it was to get back into DA. Maybe it's just my gaming preferences shifting away from swords and sorcery at long last. I'm not even really all that interested in Witcher 2 yet... and apart from that what else is there on the horizon? Diablo 3? Meh.

Now that's what I like to see, info about the game and not opinions about what you can and can't do. Yeah I know, opinions are important, Yahtzee makes a living off them, but he at least waits til the game is released. I can't wait to try out the dialogue system. I wanna know what Mike said to that one gal in the orange top. One scene they're sitting on the bed. Next time we see her she's hitting him over the head with a chair. Repeatedly.

San Jose in 6. ditto mkreku's statement. Chicago in 5. Preds may give them a scare or two, and I would love to see the upset, but I think the Hawks are gonna roll into the 3rd round at least. Phoenix in 6. Unrealistic but I don't care. GO 'YOTES GO Awwwoooooo. Vancouver in 5. I live on the west coast and told some 'nucks fans I know I'd cheer them on, otherwise meh. Washington in 4. All I want for xmas is for Ovie to sweep the Habs. New Jersey in 7. Playoff goaltending matters way too much. Devils got it, Philly don't. Buffalo in 6. This one sucks. I dislike Buffalo more than the B's, but I don't want the B's to have playoff success while getting the Leafs first two picks this year. Sigh. Pittsburgh in 5. This must happen.

As soon as the reviewer mentioned how we couldn't play a female Mike I stopped reading. To clarify, I don't have a problem with the choice of making the protagonist either gender, but if that's what reviewers are citing as negatives at this stage, then they aren't seeing how a limited customization can make a game better.

Good back and forth game between the Jays and White Sox tonite in the Jays home opener. Not the result I wanted though. Frasor blows another save in the 9th. Lind strikes out in the 11th with a runner on second. Sox bullpen was unconscious tonight, not giving up a hit after the 6th inning. Bah. Oh well, Jays are still off to a good start. EDIT: On second thought, I'm not gonna feel bad about Frasor. I'll blame the Jays "new" play-by-play guy Buck Martinez mentioning, in true saying-no-hitter-in-the-8th-inning fashion, that the Jays have the best home-opener record in the history of baseball, with a now .735 winning percentage (25-9). Being a former player and manager and announcer forever you'd think he'd know enough to shut up until the game is over.

Stopped playing DA:Awakening for now. Having a difficult time getting back into the whole DA thing right now. I enjoyed it enough that I will get back to it eventually, but I recently installed both the Firewalker and Kasumi DLCs and started a new game of ME2 instead. Also thinking of getting back into Borderlands while ticking off calendar days til June 1st.

Two interviews with Matthew Hickman
mr insomniac replied to Starwars's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
That sounds about right, first time through both ME and ME2 took me between 27 and 30 hours of gameplay. DA was slightly more, maybe around 35 hours. If AP offers 25+ hours for the first time through I'll be happy. -
A+ as well.
