  1. You don't really want to be that close to where it hits (thats how I discovered how it worked the first time) Are you talking about Cain or the new DLC Arc Projector? The AP is awesome, and is now my favourite heavy weapon. There's a side mission - the last in a trilogy of side missions - where you have to shut down a factory that is making infected 'mechs. No big deal except they appear to respawn like crazy. Anyway the AP makes short work of 'em. Bring on them damn husks! The first in that trilogy also contains a lot of respawning 'mechs and an approaching sandstorm that gradually reduces visibility (but it's not that bad). Has anyone else done this mission? Is it just me or did EDI develop a rather masculine voice? It's almost as if Bioware forgot this mission existed and left placeholder VA in place, rather than Tricia Helfer's.
  2. You have to hold the Lmouse button down for a couple seconds with the new arc shooter as well, but it's pretty cool. I just finished recruiting Mordin in my new game, and I only used it once, but it almost instantly wiped out a cluster of four Vorcha - only one of which was out in the open to begin with. I wish I was a little closer to them when it happened, heh, I didn't really get to see it.
  3. Although it's tough to tell from just one trailer, driving the Hammerhead appears to be much less of a chore than driving the Mako, although admittedly much of the blame for that comes from the planet surfaces you had to drive on. Will have to wait and see what it's really like. Agreed with Enoch on the combat, though, both for the Mako and what the Hammerhead appears to be.
  4. Looks more fun than the Mako, that's for sure. Didn't notice any indicators for shields or ammo. Unlimited?
  5. Fallout Shelters on E-Bay If I had a little disposable income...
  6. Ah, I've always gone to the Citadel before Horizon, and I never talked to Anderson again after that initial meeting. If he says something about it all during that initial meeting, then I've forgotten it. My bad. As for TIM, I generally don't listen to him much anymore, heh. Next time I play through the game, I'll try not to spacebar the conversations.
  7. I think the Alliance doesn't give a rat's ass about the Terminus colonies, and they don't extend military protection to them -- same as with human colonies in the Skyllian Verge and the Council. Which is one of the reasons why people go settle there, to begin with. Except that . Maybe it's partly a PR move, but I think they do want to do something about the collectors, it's just implied they don't have the manpower at the moment.
  8. I got the impression that Normandy wasn't really a ship of the line as much as it was a stealth/scout vessel, relying on staying unobserved rather than fighting. Cue the introduction of ME2, where they all seem shocked that the collectors can "see" them Bingo. Normandy isn't supposed to be shot at. That is true. However, it's not defenseless. I mean, they have to be prepared for those times when the enemy is looking out the window. And the Normandy was at the Vanguard of the Alliance fleet when they arrived at the Citadel to take on Sovereign, and Joker - or whoever was in charge of the guns - delivered the killing blow to Sovereign. I know, it was all a very dramatic cinematic piece, but so was having the ship sliced up by the Collectors. EDIT: Spelling.
  9. Just saw this today while pre-ordering DA:Awakening, since amazon.ca isn't carrying the PC version of the expansion Gamestop.ca pre-order bonus All I can say is, wow that's a lotta loot!
  10. Hey, you got the win over Ottawa last night! What more do you want? At this point, for the Leafs to somehow string together enough points to get out of a lottery pick at the draft. Other than that, yes, wins against Ottawa are the sunny days in a long grey winter.
  11. Then he's in on the conspiracy. Maybe he's an Alliance plant.
  12. Everyone on the station would have to die. When you meet up with Miranda just before getting on the shuttle, you can ask if they should go back and look for other survivors. She says something like, 'everyone knows you're the only important person on this whole station. If they're not here they didn't make it.' and Jacob says something like, 'she's right. they knew the risks when they signed on.'
  13. The Council suggested doing something similar in ME, to counter the threat of Saren's attack on the Citadel, and Shepard basically tells them that won't be enough. In fact, IIRC that's what they did, and, well, Shepard was right. Normandy 1.0 was the most advanced warship in space - or so we're led to believe - and the Collector ship sliced and diced it fairly quickly. I dunno if anyone else could stand up to a Collector ship either, at least not without planetary defense turrets, except for maybe the Ascension. It's also noted, by TIM and possibly others, that the Alliance and Council armies are spread pretty thin in the aftermath of Sovereign's attack on the Citadel.
  14. >N You stumble upon another DRM thread. It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue. >What is a grue? The grue is a sinister, lurking presence in the dark places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale. Luckily, the grue is easily distracted by fresh equine corpses, which it likes to attack with heavy clubs. From here you may: {ST}and in one place, or move {S}outh. >Get EQUINE CORPSE You do not see a EQUINE CORPSE. >Get EQUINE CORPSE from PACK Your PACK is empty. Did I mention it is pitch black and that you are likely to be eaten by a grue? Because you are. >S
  15. Yeah, I've done that. I was thinking more along the lines of him picking up clues about his loyalty mission from different Blue Suns along the way, maybe "interrogating" a few of them to find out what they know, then talking to Zaeed about it on the ship, a few conversations like you can have with the others... then, after that's done a bit, go on his loyalty mission. It would have made Zaeed a better overall character.
  16. Zaeed saved my butt during the mission I just played thru. For reasons I don't want to give away in case you haven't gotten there yet, I couldn't see my targets most of the time and he was knocking them down left and right. Zaeed's not bad, he's just not complete. I mean, if you like you can recruit him as soon as you get to Omega, leave Omega and do his loyalty mission, and twenty or so minutes in the real part of the game -- gaining control of the Normandy I mean --you never have anything to do with him again. At least you can continue to talk to all the others. Maybe his loyalty mission shouldn't come up til much later in the game, and he could interact with any Blue Suns you meet along the way. Maybe have some dialogues with him that way.
  17. If there aren't any sniper rifles in AP, I'm gonna have to change my usual combat tactics from just about every other game I've been playing recently. Not necessarily a bad thing.
  18. I dunno why, but until I read that I thought this was one of those things that you had to play on hardcore/insanity for the whole game in order to get it. Dumb, I now know, as once you get the rifle you can adjust the difficulty level downwards. Gah. I'm too far along in my current game now to backtrack that far.... of course, since I'm not even playing a soldier this game... I'll just shut up now. Move along. Nothing to see here. Metagaming is a heck of a deal. Of course, the best part about the GPR is that you won't even need Disruptor Ammo since it takes down shields faster than it takes Lindsay Lohan to get plastered. So you can use it with maxed out Incendiary Ammo (Inferno Ammo) and it absolutely rips everything to shreds in seconds thanks to its sinusoidal fire rate (I kid you not) and its manic accuracy. And, to top it off with a cherry, its one of the most efficient ammo guns in the game. Not only does it hold around 480 rounds, but every ammo-pick nets around 120 rounds! So needing a backup wep is never an issue. EDIT: Your non-solider can use it too if he has Assault Rifle Training! Now be a trooper and backtrack... Impressive. Accuracy is a big plus, cuz otherwise I'd need all that ammo. But realistically, playing beyond Haestrom on any difficulty level below hardcore/insanity would be a cakewalk with GPR. I know some would say it already is, but I'm not one of those. Veteran is a challenge enough for me. Still I'm intrigued. I can't remember offhand, do you get the GPR ? EDIT: Heh, I already picked the Widow instead. You get it in the room Tali was trapped in, so yeah, it's after fighting off Big Colo. I too pick Widow because it's the best weapon in the game and awesome for boss-killing (even better than the Collector Pulse Rifle). So my Solider with GPR + Widow is pretty much untouchable even on Insanity. I was afraid of that. It's a moot point anyway; I checked it out and I don't have a savegame going back that far anymore. Ah well, I was already planning on playing the game again. Thanks for the GPR info. Agreed on the Widow, although I still do like the rapidfire SR as well. Gotta say it appears to do less damage per shot than even the default SR... which kinda sucks.

  21. It's hard to overstate my satisfaction.
  22. Maybe the timer changes based on the difficulty level you play. Also, that dev diary was awesome. Is it June yet?
  23. As far as choosing which bonus power to take, as long as you have the resources you can research the advance training as often as you like and try out several different powers. I found the warp ammo to be usefu, but I usually take offensive rather than defensive powers when given the option. In fantasy games I build my mages the same way. Buffs? Who needs 'em, heh. However, after reading WILL THE ALMIGHTY's tips for powering up Grunt... wow, I may have to change my thinking. Thanks for that tip.
  24. This sentence conjured up images of that god-awful mini-game from JE. If it's like that... *shudder*
  25. The carnifex heavy pistol is a good second choice. It does a lot of damage, and of course is more effective at closer range. You get that for nothing just by recruiting Mordin. The drawback is a smaller ammo supply.
