  1. Something to do with the way the respec potion works, IIRC, is that you can only carry one in your inventory at a time. It's possible the original mod-maker created it to behave that way, I'm not sure. After you use it, you simply have to talk to a raven again to get another one.
  2. "Hey, I'm not that easy. Gamers need loving too, but they gotta pay." heh...perhaps I should have said "the new dagger" instead.
  3. I also got the edge for free the other day. Soon as I started the gme, the EA EULA popped up, and when I accepted it, another popup showed "new content downloaded" or something like that.
  4. the revenants is optional in the forest and forest ruins. the revenant at redcliffe is not optional. HA! Good Fun! I could have avoided them at the time and come back later when the gang was stronger, that's true, but I wanted that suit of armour. So I got greedy and used up much of my (then) small stock of health and lyrium, heh.
  5. Agree on the forest being tough for a low level party. Went there first after Lothering this playthru. Damn revenants. That's all I'm gonna say. Damn revenants.
  6. The other day I attempted to 'resume game' too quickly, ie before i'd logged in to the server, and I got a popup saying (something like) some or all of the DLC may not be available because I wasn't logged in. So I waited until I was logged in and everything was fine. Some of the bugs people are experiencing with the DLC may be related to that. I've been having a blast with DA, especially once I got used to the controls and the camera. Figuring out the tactics mechanism is a work in progress, but once I figured out how to get Leliana to stop attacking the same opponent I was fighting, no matter who I told her to attack, I've been happy. My only nitpicky annoyance to this point is the abundance of locked chests, especially in the early parts of the game and you possibly have no rogue. Where's the bash option or the knock spell? My warrior can knock darkspawn flying with his shield, he can't break open a lock? Meh, it's a minor thing only. Haven't experienced any bugs that I'm aware of, and I'm pretty impressed with how smoothly my rig can run the game.
  7. The offline mode does work once you have the game installed...but I still need Steam to run it. Also, here's another issue that I have (maybe there's a solution I'm unaware of?)...if you play in offline mode and there's a patch, you go online and it'll patch things automatically, correct? But what if you don't like the patch? Either because of gameplay changes you personally dislike or because your hardware for some reason doesn't like the patched aspects. You can't downgrade the patch on Steam. If you uninstall and reinstall, Steam will install the latest version w/the patch, and thus you can never get back to the original version again. Has this changed? As far as I know, yes, whenever steam decides to patch/update a game it's done automatically without any decision from the user. I would imagine that if you backup a game to DVD then install it at some future point, it will update automatically. I do see your point, there is that drawback of buying games from steam.
  8. Yes, I have. Im still rocking a P4 3Ghz at home but due to my wifes recent raise that should be changing fairly soonish and Im interested in exploring some games that would make my current rig cry like a little girl. With that in mind, Steam seems like a good way to get stuff fast provided the prices are the same as retail. I can kinda guess the Pro's of Steam but can anyone give me the Con's? Something crazy like you have to be logged into Steam to play them, or something like that? You have to be logged in to steam to play them, yes. But you can login to steam in offline mode for any game that doesn't require you to be online to play it, ie most (if not all) singleplayer games. Prices are generally pretty good in my experience, and steam is always having sales and specials. And they're pretty good on keeping games patched and up-to-date. I've heard that with some games with dlc, it can be a little tricky to get steam versions to work, fallout 3 for example. The only real downside is if you have a slow internet connection, or a monthly bandwidth limit from your ISP.
  9. I bought it on steam, d/l'ed and installed it when i got home from work. I've been playing it now for over 2 hours, and i dunno where the time went! i'm getting into it in a way i never got into diablo. I dunno why that is, all i can say is it's a blast to play, and i'm glad i bought it.
  10. You can even backup steam games to disc(s) very easily, eliminating the need to redownload them.
  11. that trailer was better than a lot of games, heh. however, i think the game itself will be pretty cool too. l4d was .. is... great, and now they've added chainsaws.
  12. When Goo first became avaialable on steam I paid full price for it, and I feel like I got my money's worth. Still play it now and again.

  14. Ok, I can't wait to play this game.
  15. Thanks for the official update, Matthew eight more months of twitter updates woo hoo.
  16. Actually, we traded our first-round picks this year and next, and our second round pick this year for Phil Kessel. Bruins fans must be partying in the streets. If we do get a Tavares or a Hedman this year, he'll have to be of the 'hidden gem' type. i would think. Unless BB can swap someone for a second rounder. Stajan/Blake/Stempniak anyone? Please?? As you say, though, it's only six games. I remember last year the canucks went on an 8 or 9 game losing streak in december. people wanted the coach fired, and everyone traded, then they won several in a row and never looked back. Much as it pains me to say it, I won't say the Leafs are as good as the Canucks, but maybe we can do something similar and get back on track. Taylor Hall.
  17. Anytime the Dodgers are in the playoffs, I'd like to see them win it all. This goes back to '81 when Fernando Valenzuela was a rookie and they beat the Yanks in 6, firmly entrenching my Yankees hatred for all time. The Dodgers always seem to be the underdogs so who knows... but realistically I think it'll be Cards/Yankees in the series, so all I can say is go Cards.
  18. In the last 90 minutes, Steam has updated their AP release date to March 2010. Amazon.ca says June 30th 2010. Meh, that's a 3 month difference in release dates. I'd say now that Sega has officially pushed back the release by updating their page, they need to get all these retailers on the same page as well... even if it is to just say "spring 2010" too.
  19. I've gotten gold back in exchange for items i've sold, then used that gold to buy items i wanted. I've also done wares for wares transactions. Nothing odd that i've seen, although granted, i've only just encountered my first trader, heh.
  20. This thread has convinced me to give this game a try, and I'm downloading it from Steam as I type this. Never played the Gothic games at all, so have no pre-conceived comparisons to make. looking forward to starting a game, just wish my connection was faster.
  21. Doc is a beast. I hope the Jays don't trade him. I have nothing else to look forward to unless someone is dumb enough to take vernon wells' contract off our hands... except for maybe j.p. getting fired.
  22. That's possibly encouraging. I wasn't aware, before this thread that sega is notoriously bad at updating their website, but perhaps this time the fact that they haven't updated AP's release date, means there's still a chance it'll be out next month. maybe somebody jumped the gun and leaked a "delay til june" message before anything was made official.
  23. I agree with that. At the time I picked up Baldur's Gate, my favourite games were quake 2 and myth: the fallen lords. I think i actually got myth at the same time as BG. I distinctly remember splitting up my gaming day between the two games. of course, there was also red: alert... but there wasn't a good rpg to play before BG came along. I have to add here that i hadn't heard of fallout or fallout 2 until i was playing PS:T and found the message boards.
  24. Kudos to LostStraw. Should get a cameo in the game... maybe future dlc?
  25. Interesting. Wonder how long it will take Sega to update their page. After Oct 6th passes, then whatever date they put up will be the real one, I would think. Wonder how many e-mails they're gonna get about it as the days go by and they haven't updated. Of course, if they update before the 6th, it's all moot, heh. EDIT: FWIW steam still has it listed as an Oct 2009 release on its store page.
