Animancy Ending Slide
Juodas Varnas replied to thamiar's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Maybe you were bad at arguing for its benefits? As far as i know, there are 3 endings for the animancers: if you manage to convince him of its benefits (and even if you choose the neutral 'what would you do' option, so you don't get called out for being a hypocrite by the Faceless), the animancy gets acquitted, people start believing that the assassin was a Leaden Key agent and the Sanitarium gets rebuilt. If you don't convince the duc, he remains neutral, the sanitarium doesn't get rebuilt, dyrwoodans do what they do best, purge a whole bunch of people, though some survive and practice their science without too many issues Aaaand if you convince the duc that animancy is evil... Well... It sorta goes all Texas Chainsaw Massacre on the poor scientists, filling the sanitarium with dismembered torsos and bits and pieces of anyone who even thought of doing animancy. So... Vaneglorious, i think you're a bit wrong about the end result not mattering at all. -
Help with Abbey Monks?
Juodas Varnas replied to champy's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Just get Grieving Mother and spam Silent Scream and Amplified Wave. It's GLORIOUS. -
Dryford village and defience bay
Juodas Varnas replied to Melusina's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Eh, i like going to Dyrford first to pick up Grieving Mother early. I just really like her. Shut up. But level and story wise, you probably should go to Defiance bay for quests, because some of the combat encounters around Dyrford can be pretty tough at lower levels. -
Godpact knights aren't the bloody 'mafia', they're just mercenaries working for gold and nothing else, they're supposed to be the most 'professional' order, none of that emotional nonsense there, like aggression or passion - it's gold or GTFO. Skaen is the god of hate, yeah, but it's not a "PUNCH YOU IN THE FACE" HATE, it's secret hatred, resentment, etc and being OPENLY AGGRESSIVE sorta is the exact opposite of that, is it not? Also, don't confuse the characters of Raedric and Durance with their deities (i mean both of them are lunatics and Raedric isn't even a priest, while Durance is literally betrayed by Magran). Berath is supposed to be the cold, emotionless, cyclical nature of life and death. There's no room for cruelty or passion in inevitability, just because Raedric, being a mass murdering lunatic, is so passionate doesn't mean anything (also, i personally doubt that he was raised by Berath into a fampyr and i'm more leaning towards the animancers in his service being responsible for it). Magran though, eh, i'm not sure about that. The passionate being a negative disposition feels a bit of a stretch and mostly given for gameplay purposes (since all the deities have 2 positive and 2 negative ones) and i can't really think of another disposition that would fit better. . . . But if you truly have such massive problems with that, just get the Faith and Conviction / Deep faith for the character. There are there for a reason.

Twin Elms Reputation
Juodas Varnas replied to qEin's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I think it was so in the past but not anymore, at least i don't get anything in the current patch. Are you talking about the named or the generic adventures? Cause the named ones don't give reputation, IIRC, but the generic ones can give quite a lot. -
Twin Elms Reputation
Juodas Varnas replied to qEin's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
You do get slight reputation increases by doing the Stronghold adventures, do you not? Because i definitely remember being a (Champion) for the Twin Elms. -
*Shrug* I ran her with a Dagger (the OP soulbound one that you need to grind through, unlabored blade) and small shield (little savior). Probably not the most optimal choice, but i liked it. I also had her use a Scepter (the superb one that knocks people prone from the dragon's hoard) as a second loadout in case i needed her to stay at range.

Potions scaling with Alchemy
Juodas Varnas replied to MaxQuest's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
Eh, i'm honestly not a huge fan of the way alchemy affects the USE of potions and not the creation of them. Feels a bit too 'gamey' i guess? But i guess it does make some sense in Pillars of Eternity just how much one's beliefs actually affect the world, so I GUESS just believing that you're great at making potions makes the potions more effective or something, i don't know. -
Did you kill Harmke?
Juodas Varnas replied to adikKt's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
What part of the decision with the adra dragon is hard? Fighting it on POTD Ironman and risking losing the 100 hours of your campaign vs helping the... uhm... poor dragon that has been imprisoned in a dank cave for millennia finally achieve freedom it so sorely wishes (at the cost of a life of some racist dragon-hating dragon slayer nobody) -
Did you kill Harmke?
Juodas Varnas replied to adikKt's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I did end up killing him, despite playing an Eothasian priest and preaching forgiveness and redemption for the entire game, but i also never lied and when 'It's complicated' didn't suffice, i told the truth - that he did, indeed, burn her house down. When the fight started, I was hoping that we would've beaten Harmke half-to-death and then gotten another prompt on what to do with him (like with a lot of guys like Gramrfel), getting a chance to put him in my dungeon or just having Devil realize that 'vengeance is pointless' or whatnot... Instead she just brutally finished the guy off. Though, she did sorta realize that vengeance was pointless, but it was a tad too late for my tastes. -
Buried Secrets
Juodas Varnas replied to Gossy's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Oh good golly that quest is DARK and it's not the only one. You know what? Thinking about it in retrospect, the entirety of Pillars of Eternity was DARK AS HECK. -
Well, Trolls in Pillars were mostly mindless half-plant half-beast killing machines, so to hell with those abominations! Ogres were pretty cool though. I basically took every single opportunity to be nice to them, when i was given one. Got one to protect my keep too (sure, it's probably not the best guard to have due to the prestige malus, but i found him super useful whenever someone decided to assault it.) Vithrack were still cooler though.

What about Ninagauth's Shadowflame? The unique blue fireball spell in White March that deals freeze damage and paralyzes targets. Gosh, that was a cool spell (heck, Ninagauth's spells in general are reaally cool, like his Death Ray and Killing Bolt, though Concelhaut's Crushing Doom is still the best thing ever).

I don't think so. The main instance I can thing of in which Liches were connected to necromancy and cold is Warcraft 3, and that was because their creator just so happened to be stuck in a frozen throne in the coldest part of the world. White Walkers Eh, White Walkers are closer to Wights than Liches, in my opinion. (Yes, i do realize GoT uses the term Wights to refer to the zombies, i know, i know) Though, come to think of it, i'm not entirely sure White Walkers are even undead, buuuut i'm not going to lie, i'm not super into Game of Thrones.

I'm sure Sawyer said in some video (QA?) the sassy animation had to be tuned down because it was too sassy. I don't know of those clips are from before or after. Well, there were Godlikes standing around at every other corner. They didn't seem particularly special. Aww.... There's no such thing as 'too sassy' i say!

It's funny, now that you mention it, I've got to admit that Durance and Pallegina were my favorite characters in PoE1. Then I saw the Joshugina portrait and everything got ruined, I'm still having nightmares. If only Durance was in Deadfire :/ Aww man... I'll miss Durance and his angry ranting so much.
