I don't like Deadfire more purely because it's in not in full 3D... I really like KOTOR2, i probably prefer that to Deadfire because it took Star Wars in a really different, unique and interesting direction for once.

Did it ever come out on PC? I never played it. KOTOR 2 or NWN2 for me. NWN 2 is extremely flawed but I still like it. I'm a sucker for Forgotten Realms.

There is an audience for these types of games, the budget/expectations were too high. The Shadowrun games had 0 voice acting and were perfectly fine. They focused too much on things which didn't really matter... v/o and the ship minigame. Didn't Josh say the Ship game was a black hole of resources? And it's the most universally disliked part of the game. Should have been scrapped... i like that Josh basically said 'I was told we had to put it in even though I said it was a bad idea'. Very honest of him.

I read something about The Banner Saga 2 having disappointing sales compared to the first when they ad moved away from Kickstarter and went back to it for the third game. I think the marketing associated with Kickstarter must be quite significant.

The Ebon Hawke in KOTOR1/2 was awesome. I just wish on Deadfire's ship people had more stuff to say.

I have just booked a trip to Canada and this show inspired me all those years ago. What a great period of time during the mid 2000's back in the early days of video hosting and that, pre YouTube when you had to download from a site on crappy broadband or in my case 56k! It was unfortunate the show ended but the first 10 episodes were the best, really down to earth and unglamourous. Pretty much jus Jeremy and Kyle pottering around Toronto talking about bollocks. Online gaming and the gaming 'scene' in general has changed so much since then, i feel like i've been left behind... or just grown out of it. Anyways, just sharing memories. It feels like it's slipping away from history.

It's kind of unfair comparing anything to the BG games as that setting had already been established for years with so much history and characters and whatever to draw from. I think BG2 companions were great for the time, but Deadfires are disappointing. I'd have hoped for companions with more content like Dragon Age or KOTOR. They really don't have much to say back on your ship in Deadfire.

Yes but... the game probably would have done better with a more traditional setting. In terms of sales to general audiences. I think the setting is quite refreshing for a game of this type but... eh we're not the casual audience are we?
