I have just booked a trip to Canada and this show inspired me all those years ago. What a great period of time during the mid 2000's back in the early days of video hosting and that, pre YouTube when you had to download from a site on crappy broadband or in my case 56k! It was unfortunate the show ended but the first 10 episodes were the best, really down to earth and unglamourous. Pretty much jus Jeremy and Kyle pottering around Toronto talking about bollocks. Online gaming and the gaming 'scene' in general has changed so much since then, i feel like i've been left behind... or just grown out of it. Anyways, just sharing memories. It feels like it's slipping away from history.

It's kind of unfair comparing anything to the BG games as that setting had already been established for years with so much history and characters and whatever to draw from. I think BG2 companions were great for the time, but Deadfires are disappointing. I'd have hoped for companions with more content like Dragon Age or KOTOR. They really don't have much to say back on your ship in Deadfire.

Yes but... the game probably would have done better with a more traditional setting. In terms of sales to general audiences. I think the setting is quite refreshing for a game of this type but... eh we're not the casual audience are we?

I really love the baldurs gate games but I wouldn't ever call them the best games ever made. Tetris probably holds that title even though I'm not a huge fan of it. I think terms like 'legend' and 'genius' are used too liberally. Someone like... Miyamoto can be considered a legend in the industry because of how long he has been around and the amount of successful games he's worked on over the years. Should Avellone? I don't think so. He's done some great work but that's about it, when's the last time he did anything outstanding?

That sort of mindset is so outdated now. This is a globalized world, 'nations' shouldn't even be a concept anymore. At my work there is mainly Polish, they make an effort to travel here and work hard to make money. A lot of the English just can not be bothered, expect everything to be given to me. Nothing in life is free.
