  1. If you always wandered round with a heavily armed gang of like 11 people i'd expect the city guard to take your weapons, apprehend you etc... That's basically a gang wandering about. I like it in FF10 but you only have what, 6 party members anyway? I think it only works in FFX because you only use 3 party members and can switch them out mid battle but the whole combat is kind of built around that idea. You're asking about NON combat though so... not sure maybe it could work i'm not completely against it. I think 11 may be too high though.
  2. They are already basically selling a load of tat DLC items with the different edition's of the game. Isn't there about 20 quid difference between them? For some stupid items and a soundtrack you'll be able to hear on youtube for free within a day.
  3. Is this a big deal? Anyone ever seen the uncensored version of the first Dragonball? It shows Goku's ****. Also in Breath of Fire 4 at the start you see Ryu's ****.
  4. I suggest to drink some Milwaukee's best. Edit: Yeah... uhh I really don't care about DPSSSSSSSSSZZZZZZZORRZZZ! or whatever. I only really play these games now for the role playing element anyway. I really don't get this obsession with damage and balance and what have you, we're not playing WoW are we?!
  5. I haven't completed it either... I'm not sure what it is. I was enjoying it but i got to a point and whenever I boot up the game I play for about 5 minutes and can't bring myself to carry on.
  6. I wonder what this mysterious 50 page poster thought of Tides of Numenera then...........!
  7. PoE was never hardcore dungeons and dragons whatsoever. Wasn't the original pitch to make something in a similar style to the infinity engine games but a bit more modern? They never said it was going to be Tomb of Horrors.
  8. To me, personally, the problem with base PoE was that it was too much one tone. Put to much depressing/violent/shocking content and it uses its value. Same way for humor. Put too much of it, and it stops being funny. The key is to mix those. Prepare a violent scene in a more casual quest. Bring players hopes up, before introducing something really bad. In PoE it’s not that soulless babies were too much, but they were a constant norm, which quickly lost its impact.promise of more varied tone of Deadfire, hopefully will result in a more effective storytelling. A great example is Majora's Mask. Mixes humour and misery perfectly.
  9. Yeah they had some pretty silly stuff, but in a good way. Divinity is a bit too nudge nudge wink wink. Can't remember if Pillars even had an attempts at humour, or they just fell completely flat for me.
  10. I had that wolfwere issue I remember.. I think you have to shut the entire game down and re open it and reload. Pretty annoying, wondered why I kept dying so hard and miserably all the time.
  11. The 3D pictures look terrible in Neverwinter Nights 2. I have to use the portrait mod whenever I play that. On a similar sort of note, I much prefer the 2d Codec pictures in MGS1 compared to the 3d heads in MGS2.
  12. Not sure yet, i'm a bit skint at the moment. Might have to wait until the following payday.
  13. Other than Eder, the VO in Pillars is pretty weak. That Orlan in The White March part 2 outside Durgan's Battery.... I had to mute my speakers. I don't mind Durance but i'm pretty sure the same voice actor does nearly every NPC so it kind of detracts from it. Also... I know a lot of people are against this nowadays but I much prefer the good old English accents, American really sounds out of place in fantasy games. I guess i'm just old fashioned.
  14. I was trying to think of some recent high quality soundtracks, probably Persona 5 but like you say it's a Japanese game. The Dragon Age games don't have particularly memorable soundtracks but they serve the game well enough. I suppose Pillars is the same.
  15. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLfyRQfHAio&index=3&list=PL1504051B3E0F033C The Iron Flail fort music reminds me of this piece from The Killing Fields. It's probably my favourite piece in the game. Most of the music sounds really depressing, which isn't a bad thing but sometimes more triumphant music could be played, it just feels like you're on a constant downer. There aren't any parts like in BG1 when you're heading to the Iron Throne compound and have the candelkeep music playing in Baldurs Gate motivating you.
  16. Guys, he has too much information on our conspiracy against him... run!
  17. Balance is the enemy of interesting gameplay.
  18. I was thinking who actually cares about buying some magazine or whatever just to get some useless in game item? What's the point? But apparently a lot of people! I must be really out of touch.
  19. Sort of. I tend to treat journal more like a part of an UI than the world. I want it to be as functional as possible. I don't use journal for immersion, but to remind myself what quest I took and abandoned long time ago, or to refresh a location of a quest I want to do. Ideally journal shouldn't be a part of a quest, and often enough I would complete quests in PoE1 without consulting the journal. I get what you mean but I think having as little UI stuff as possible is a good thing. Or maybe I just like the writing in the little journal entries in BG1/2 because they are kind of amusing and have character, kind of like Morrowind as well. Whereas Pillars is more like Skyrim. Just gives you information about the location of the target or whatever. A least from what I remember!
  20. I will let this thread die after this but... I actually really like that you don't get constant quest updates and sub quests and yadda yadda yadda. I don't thing any game has perfected it yet but I do like the journal of BG2. It can get confusing if you take on too much at once but it feels more... natural? PoE just feels like a checklist.
  21. Sorry for the necro... but i had to click europe but apparently England isn't in europe anymore?
  22. I don't want to have a go at PoE's soundtrack because it is fine, but that's it... it's just fine. There's the odd piece which is pretty good and memorable but most of it sounds depressing and the battle music is a ripoff of BG2's. BG1 and 2 had fantastic music, also Neverwinter Nights. I think some people might disagree because it's basically the exact same tune just recomposed or whatever but it works really well for me at least. Icewind Dale music fits brilliantly for the style it was going for. Pillars its just OK compared to these, but i guess it's harsh to compare it since they were so good.
  23. Yes, sometimes I do end up skipping through some voice acting. but it's good to have the option ya know? Sometimes I just want to get on with it but sometimes i like to sit back and listen to the drama unfold.
  24. Yeah it's kind of odd, you'd think they would be putting information out trying to get people pumped for the game.
  25. YES! I love the little comments people make when you click them. I know most are repeated but it just adds a bit of characters, and it's quite amusing. I'm a fine looking strumpet... aren't I!
