  1. I just recently played Splinter Cell Conviction and Alan Wake, two third person modern day games, and given how fantastic they both look I was prepared to be pretty disappointed by AP, but I don't think it looks too bad at all. One thing AP does better than both those titles is facial animation.
  2. The first three or four episodes are meh, then it became must see tv.
  3. I rather like the lack of a cross-hair in Alan Wake, instead relying on the torch to aim. Also the health system with the super slow regen with light as health kit. Not terribly fond of sprint and dodge being the same button, as all too often old Alan keeps ducking when all I want to do is run. I don't think it really slows him down, but it still bothers me. Minor pet peeve. Something that amuses me about is that the lip-syncing in the live action Night Springs is even worse than the game itself.
  4. It's definitely more DX than ME.
  5. You can definitely walk in the console version. I dunno, maybe they didn't include a key for it in the PC version.
  6. The controls are quite slow on 360, which is the only issue really as the code position will occasionally change right before I get to it. Otherwise I find it to be pretty easy, and if the controls were faster it'd be too easy. How does the lock picking work on PC? On the 360 you need to apply varying levels of pressure to the left trigger to get the tumbler into the correct position. I assume you use the mouse for this on the PC?
  7. Explain the male attitude to sex you are referring to, and what it is (you think) what women want us to think.
  8. Who is C.J. Cregg? She didn't star in Lost. The actress who played the mother/guardian of the island was Allison Janney. Allison Janney played C.J. Cregg in The West Wing.
  9. Can anyone think of a man who handles sex with maturity? What does it mean to handle sex with maturity?
  10. The reason there was a "dark" that needed to be stopped was because Jacob wanted to punish his brother with a fate worse than death for killing C.J. Cregg. C.J. smashed in the head of a woman so she could steal her freshly baked twins and mold them into the next guardian. How the island's protector goes about stopping folks from getting into Pandora's knickers depends on who has the job, and neither mother or son were shining beacons of light.
  11. I plan on playing blindfolded to increase the challenge.
  12. I already spent my game monies on Alan Wake, so I have to wait till the end of the week for my taste of sweet Obsidian goodness. I'll also be purchasing Alpha Protocol on Friday.
  13. What race is the trainer? This information is very important in my enjoyment of the story.
  14. I hoping for a PAL version.
  15. How is it? I'm currently having a lot of fun freaking guys out as I pick them off one by one from the shadows. It's still a stealth game, and while the series has changed it's not quite as different as people expected.
  16. Funnily enough the mission I'm currently playing through in Conviction is an instant fail if you're discovered.
  17. Splinter Cell: Conviction. I agree with the comparison to Arkham Asylum.
  18. What? Your location seems appropriate. http://www.rpgwatch.com Look at "Poll Watch Most disappointing game from 2009?". Oh I see. Well based on the results of that poll I have no doubt EA is currently in the process of dismantling Bioware.
  19. What? Your location seems appropriate.
  20. There have been numerous attempts, though. True. Although since Silent Storm I can't think of any. There was a period there where tactical combat games were fairly common, but they were mostly linear, mission-based affairs with little strategic element. Which isn't to say there haven't been any since SS either, only that I can't think of them. And SS still didn't have that blend of strategy and tactics that make Jag 2 and XCOM so interesting. Man, I love Silent Storm, but then I mostly loved JA2 for the turn-based combat anyway. There have been numerous spiritual successors to both XCOM and JA2 over the years, several UFO games inspired by XCOM and stuff like Brigade E5 and Hired Guns for JA2, though as you mention they typically don't feature all aspects of the original games. I've probably played the demos for them all, but they never grabbed me the way the originals did. Of course I was never a huge fan of XCOM, haven't played it since the late nineties.
  21. There have been numerous attempts, though.
  22. Dear Mr Walters. I feel bad for Catherine. I hope her appearance in the latest web comic doesn't effect her self esteem too badly. Love Hell Kitty. P.S. Are you as angry looking in real life? You kind of look like a devil.
  23. Dozens of angry fans disagree. No. They're both FPS but one is level based sci-fi shenanigans and the other is open world in a realistic setting. They're similar in the same way that all FPS games are similar. Far Cry is closer to Crysis than it's own sequel. That's what the good X-Com games were about, but the franchise as a whole has included games of different genres.
  24. Yeah, and the rumor that it's Syndicate has been around for a long time. They were also working on a Jason Bourne game, but it was recently revealed on of their projects was canned, which I guess is likely to be Bourne. I'd be very surprised if this doesn't end up as an FPS, but considering how much I enjoyed Riddick and The Darkness I'd be pretty happy with a Syndicate flavoured cyberpunk FPS EVEN THOUGH IT WAS TOTALLY UNNECESSARY TO CALL IT SYNDICATE BECAUSE ITS NOT EVEN THE SAME FRANCHISE ITS A TOTALLY UNNECESSARY ATTEMPT TO GET YOUR MONEY EVERY TIME A COPY IS SOLD A TRUE FAN DIES
  25. While you can have an opinion on what you would like the IP to be, even what you think it should be, you don't get to decide what it is. The owners do. The franchise already features games in a variety of genres, and reinvention doesn't require new IP. Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight is not Tim Burton's Batman, but they aren't completely separate IPs. Well, that's like your opinion, man, but I what I was really asking for was a reason it would be better for 2K to make it a new franchise, and so far you you haven't really given anything more meaningful than "because I say so". There have been numerous attempts to recapture the magic of games like X-com and JA2, but so far none have come close to the originals. Games like Fallout 3 and Far Cry 2, however, show how successful something so different from the originals can be.
