I'd prefer my cyberpunk RPG without elves n' ****.

Day One: Deus Ex: Human Revolution Dragon Age 2 Mass Effect 3 Batman: Arkham City Probably: LA Noire Crysis 2 Skyrim Not Sure: The Witcher 2 Rage

If we ignore all the things she accomplishes, then sure! If anyone has to be labeled a victim it'd be Ethan, what with the fact that he has to go through a series of meaningless trials in an attempt to find his kidnapped son. But then he's a man, and we only see women as victims.

I don't even think those four shots are terribly impressive. I've even go as far to say the trees and plants in this shot are rather poor. Otherwise there's not a lot going on in them.

I thought the brazier looked a little too modern for my liking. Didn't even notice the sign. This is like that first screenshot of DX:HR that was apparently from a Crysis mod. There it was girl-in-an-alley-of-what-may-be-a-futuristic-city = OMG DX3. Here it's mountains-with-snow = OMG Skyrim. I guess that's better than amateur-3D-architecture-and-poser-models = The Sims 3. Man, it's like fakers aren't even trying anymore.

I sometimes think it's a damn shame that a particular game isn't what I'd hoped it would be, but I can't say I've ever felt ashamed for not liking a game. Monte is right, you need to chill out man. Take off your pants and have fun.

....what's there to giggle about? I bet they like to braid each others hair. lol girls r funny Multiplayer. What's wrong with Atari? Don't have the cash to fund real games anymore? Action-packed RPG gameplay allows for solo and co-op play for up to four players. What the hell do you have against Gauntlet? Kids today have no respect for the classics.

"Guy in a coat!" "Guess it was nothing."

Heavy Rain does this at times. Caught in a convienence store robbery, I attempted to sneak up to the gunman and smack him over the back of the head with a bottle, but I failed to grab an item I knocked off a shelf in time which meant I had to talk him down at gunpoint instead. In another situation I failed to fire on a suspect in time which turned out not so bad as he wasn't pulling a gun after all. I like QTE stuff like this, much better than the press-x-right-now-to-avoid-death stuff from RE4 & 5. Having to perform an action within an alloted time does not equal being bullied by a video game. It's like complaining about an FPS because you have a slow aim.

I'm glad the flooding ended before my home became a waterfront property, because it was awfully close.

No it is not. The game forcing a reload because you died is not the same as you choosing to reload because you are unhappy about the outcome. What do you mean "missed a line"? You can't miss a line. If, for example, your first option chosen in a conversation is the professional stance then every other option will also be professional until you hit a button to change it. If you mean you were too slow and missed your chance to change stances, then the problem here is with the player, not the system. As for being unsatisfied with the results, there are two issues here. First, if you mean something like you chose the suave option and Thorton instead said something that made him sound like a douchebag, then fair enough, but this is a problem that also exists in ME and has nothing to do with the time limit. Second, if you reload after every conversation because it doesn't play out as you hoped I think you're kinda missing the point of such a system, and again, this issue exists even without a time limit. RPG gamers often speak of wanting choice and consequences, and part of that is living with the consequences of your choices even if they don't go exactly your way. Otherwise what is the point of having those choices? Devs may as well make the conversation a non-interactive cutscene, then you'll never has to face the burden of reloading again.
-
This is true, although in an actual QTE you have a limited time in which you must press the button (or button combo) displayed on screen or you will fail, whereas in AP there is a limited time in which you must choose your dialogue stance or the game will make the choice for you.

If I get to knock up 62% of all living things, it's day one for me.

Maybe the Hitman-a-like Death to Spies series, and The Darkness. The are plenty of games I like that might not be huge blockbusters but they've still got a large cult following so I wouldn't think of them as underrated. Of course maybe the games I listed have a cult following I'm unaware of.

This is the exchange I was thinking of: http://forums.obsidian.net/index.php?showt...mp;#entry876605 http://forums.obsidian.net/index.php?showt...mp;#entry876637

You're referring to the video where that woman set her dog on fire, right? You've made the claim it was fake before, when you also claimed that Bethesda has some sort of press "blockout". At the time you admited you could be wrong about the video being faked, and there is a huge difference between "they are lying about x" and "I think they are lying about x".

I wish I had an explanation why I've enjoyed playing it so much. I don't, I never do, not for ME(2), not for Deus Ex, not for Baldur's Gate 2. I just know what I like, and a bunch of internet know-it-alls won't change that for me. They might lessen my enjoyment for talking abou the games, but not for playing them. This. I loved ME1 and I loved ME2. I've played them multiple times, and will continue to play them. Then again, I play all the games I love to death... Deus Ex, Baldurs Gate 2, Jagged Alliance 2, even Gothic 3! I can't explain why I get immersed in these games and enjoy playing them. It shouldn't really matter. Different people like different things. But I also agree that coming to this forum and listening to people drone on about how horrible they are, how crappy they are, and imply that anyone who doesn't agree that said games are horrible and crappy must be some kind of mentally inferior jackwagon who wouldn't know decent writing and game design if it squatted on their foot and peed does tend to make me come here less often, and be less willing to post an opinion. Fortunately there are usually a few intellectually superior types who agree with me, and make it all worthwhile. Internet forums do seem to bring out the grumpy bears in people. I agree with Nepenthe's comment about lessening the enjoyment of talking about games. Welcome to the Obsidian Forum Community!

You seem to be ignoring what kind of games the ME series are, games in which the story will change because on the actions you take, or as you put it, the work you do. The goal of these games, more or less, is to "save the galaxy". The work you put in is to that end. In ME2, if you put the work in (do companion quests to earn their trust, put people in the right roles in the final mission) then you will win. No one is asking to win by default. Purkake gave an example of the type of downer ending he'd like to see. What's the joke? That he wouldn't like that type of ending? That he was purposely offering up a cliche despite arguing against cliches? Because as Di says claiming "it was a joke" just comes across as a way to avoid backing up what you say.
-
Wait, do you really thing he's obviously grumpy, or are you just joking around again like when you said he was a downer? It's hard to keep up. The line exists to give viewers the information that Jensen was made a cyborg against his will.
-
That makes even less sense, providing you know what grumpy means. Like I said, it's "Sam Fisher is emo" all over again.
-
The kind I asked and you didn't answer. Sorry I wasn't clear, but I was implying the question was stupid. Is something you watch different from something you do? Of course it is. I didn't think there was a need to point out that being an active participant is different to being a passive viewer. You can have both. A happy ending that comes out of nowhere isn't satisfying, but a happy ending that comes from making the right decisions and having your plan work is satisfying. Which was my point. I want a satisfying ending, whether it's happy or not. Then you aren't making yourself very clear. Before you said happy endings are cliche (or boring or overused) which is bad but now you're apparently okay with a happy ending as long as it is satisfactory. That's exactly what hurlshot is asking for, unless you think he wants an unsatisfying happy ending, which makes no sense. In ME2 I did all the companion missions and made the right choices in the end battle, and all my team members survived. To me this is a "happy" ending because all my teammates survived, and it's also a satisfactory ending because they survived based on my actions. I expect the same sort of thing from ME3. As Di pointed out, having failure forced on you means the choices you make are irrelevant. Forced failure is as bad as forced everybody lived happily ever after. So your argument this whole time was just "I don't want that cliche, I want this cliche".

I think you're reading way to much into this in a effort to be negative. We see him using a bunch of his new powers, you really don't think he appreciates them? You want him to voice his appreciation every time he uses an ability? "I love that I can punch through walls." "I really like that these arm blades give me the edge in battle." "Cloaking is great, I can move around without being seen." "I really appreciate being able to fall from great heights without taking any damage." Maybe he can shout "OH HELL YEAH" with a big smile on his face every time he activates an aug.
-
What does that even mean? It's "Sam Fisher is emo" all over again.
-
Is the ending of a story you interact with different than one you just passively view? What kind of question is that? You can have both. A happy ending that comes out of nowhere isn't satisfying, but a happy ending that comes from making the right decisions and having your plan work is satisfying.

You can have a negative opinion without whining. Of course whiners tend not to see themselves as whiners. The DX:HR forum is full of whiners who freak out whenever anyone mentions how whiny they are and who fail to see the irony in accusing those with positive opinions as alts or Eidos employees. I wanted Mass Effect 3 the moment 2 ended, but I agree with others that the build up to the announcement was weird.
