What are "normal standards"? Nival knew quite well that S^2 wasn't a game that was going to sell loads of copies, but they never made the game to be a huge success.

Looking at the games from Strategy First, I'm sure they know they cater to a niche market. I don't think they'd be so naive to think that making a JA3 realtime would somehow increase it's appeal.

You should be banned.

Well, it's obviously something they plan to make, whether it ever happens, though, is another matter entirely. Like Di said, I don't think it could ever live up to JA2, but it would be nice nonetheless.

Three forums disappeared, then it was closed for repairs or some such and now it's gone, and I've no idea when it will be back up. I cry myself to sleep every night.

Manga is Japanese for comic book. In the west, the word is used specifically to refer to Japanese comic books. That is all.

No, you pay $50 for the game. The advertising is free.

Rather than dividing the list into "RPG" and "with RPG elements", or "True RPG" and "Action RPG", or "PC" and "Console" or whatever else you can come up with to seperate the games into different lists, it's so much easier tpo just check the links and decide whether a particular game is something you may or may not be interested in, whatever genre people want to put that game in. That's why I went through the list and tried putting in a few details, so if you don't like FP, don't click those links, or if you are only interested in sci-fi or fantasy or whatever. Personally, I'm really happy Shadowstrider made the list, as there are many games on it I had never heard of before that I'll now be checking up on, so for that he has my thanks. Arguments about what makes a game an RPG never seem to reach any real conclusion.

Levelling, loot and ninjas.
Hell Kitty replied to Chairchucker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I studied to be a ninja, but I failed the "kill whole town on spoon drop" test. I couldn't bring myself to do it, it just seemed too cruel. So now I'm a pirate. Harrr! -
I'm bigoted against Volourn being bigoted against bigots. Other than that, he's all good, and I like to snuggle up with him on cold winter nights.

*ignores most of the thread* What Di said. Fallout and Arcanum may be non-linear games, but the stories are just as linear as any other game. I'd sure like to see a non-linear story. Like in the old Choose your own adventure books I read as a kid.

Oh baby I sure would like to see combat like Silent Storm in an RPG. I usually get told "RPG, not tactical combat game", but damn it, I want an RPG with interesting combat!

Suggestion: Make a pure turn-based combat RPG
Hell Kitty replied to Revolver's topic in Obsidian General
mkt? -
That reminds me of Daggerfall. Stand in the shop till the shopkeeper disapeared then rob him blind. You would obviously have to eject the character prior to closing unless they were employing some sort of stealth. Even then such things are HUGELY determental to game balance. I think in Arcanum, shopkeepers only went to bed if you weren't standing around in their store (possibly even if you were even too close to the store).

Desperados may have failed miserably (I wasn't aware this was so), but it's getting a sequel. -
Jiles was my alt. I got bored with him on account of the fact that he is so lame.

To sequel or not to sequel..?
Hell Kitty replied to chaosprism's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It's not actually an expansion, it's a mod they've decided to charge for. -
will project X feature a brothel?

In the Star Wars universe, everyone is sexually satisfied. -
What view would you like in Project X?
Hell Kitty replied to mkreku's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I want my single character RPGs in first-person and my team RPGs in isometric 3D. -
Suggestion: Make a pure turn-based combat RPG
Hell Kitty replied to Revolver's topic in Obsidian General
I've only played a demo of Fallout, and I found the combat in it pretty dull. When I've played games like JA2 and SS, anything else is quite a step down. -
*takes Hell Kitty's pills* Aha ha ah ha hah. *cries*

I don't remember if it was on the Lucasarts or Bioware site, but the reason given was that seeing as how Star Wars Galaxies was coming out, they didn't want to overwhelm Star Wars fans with two games at once. That's possibly the lamest excuse I've ever heard for an exclusive deal. I wasn't interested in Galaxies, I wanted PC KOTOR. Anyway, if this was really the case then there is no need to delay the PC release this time around.
