  1. Yes but Aloth himself says that could just be a jealousy issue and such pairings are used to hide affairs but few people tend to care because it can't interfere with inheritance due to no heirs. Haemneg seem to be more of a political convenience than an actual marriage anyway. That said most of the racial stigmas seem to be directed towards orlans and godlike. My wood elf didn't get that many hateful comments from humans. I only played one human but I don't recall anything odd said to them about elves but that playthrough was a while ago. And if we're thinking who's liable to mind the PCs race it'd be Maia and Xoti and given Xoti's circumstances I can easily see her not caring about race as much, I haven't played with Maia though so I can't really discuss her. Aloth has some dependency issues going on (everytime you don't help him he gets himself killed what's up with that?) so the Watcher's race being minor to him is fitting, and Fishboy is fishboy. I really need to play with Maia but I don't wanna side with the deadfire company. and I have the feeling I'll get slammed with disapprovals for telling them that. Probably intended. In that conversation it looks like she's the one who pretty much calls him out on it. Without that push he probably suppresses it ala usual.
  2. "The one certainty is that Eora's races can breed only with their like kind, and unions between divergent races have never proven successful from that standpoint." Start of chapter 5 in the Guidebook volume 1. So no half-anythings, not even half-elves. Yeah see lots easier to tell how much cross species banging is going on when the setting has halfings. Couldn't take a step in Faerun without hitting some half something.
  3. Sure, and inasmuch as it is just bugs and it gets fixed, it's no longer an issue. I'm more responding to the argument that "people in Eora just don't care about race/gender/physical appearance/morals/etc in their partners" which we know isn't true. Ah yeah. I don't think s/s relationships in particular seem to be an issue. Inter-species seems to be more of an issue if anything. And since some of them are sterile it's hard to tell if they're common because there's not a bunch of halflings running around
  4. Again I'm pretty sure that's meant to be covered with the disposition/affinity system. It's just bugged. (which is why conversations are having way too quickly and you're getting way too much influence for certain actions). The Lis are not playersexual. Except maybe Aloth and in his case it'd make sense.
  5. Yeah same. This is probably the last time I buy a new release on gog. It's just so bothersome.
  6. Why would you do that to yourself though. Aloth used to have a sense of humor too to make it worse
  7. Hell they could've even said he saw the Watcher as a standin for his brother and would only see them in a sibling like way. That'd at least been a sensible friendzone. I don't mind him friendzoning the Watcher. But they went with the worst reasoning.
  8. You can do the ghost ship quest and take the ship and just not return to the principi, thats what i did. that maybe the mistake I made . Once I was done , I went back..and that was it . No way to back out . Yeah I did that and returned the sword. Ship kind of blows though so I ended up going back to my normal junk XD Ha does it? My junk is fantastic right now so I will probably make the same choice. I'm torn between choosing the Huana, since I like the queen, and just going solo if that's an option. Does siding with the Huana make you lose both Pallegina and Maia? Yeah less cannons and less hull/sails. I think my nicer version of Serp will choose the Huana where my more douchey version of him will go solo.
  9. Nice find! Any chance you can post a screenshot of it here? :3 Well it took 27 screenshots (all convo, but 1 path) so I'm not sure how to post them xD Dropped it here in an archive http://dropmefiles.com/378Vd so if it's not against the rules to post external unprotected links you are welcome to check If it is then I apologize and will delete it. The convo should take place in act 3 I suppose but I just triggered it via nexus mod... lol at Aloth having a rivalrymance. I prefer the sweet version more but it's still nice <3

  11. I sided with me myself and I I wasn't feeling any of the factions and seeing that ending was too perfect for my watcher.
  12. So glad I had him suppress her. If i had a choice, i would've had Iselmyr suppress Aloth instead I also don't want to spoil anything, but if you have Iselmyr in Aloth, bring her to meet the Death Guard in Berath's Catacombs in Neketaka. Pfft I'll do fine without her thankfully. I didn't like her even in POE1. You have a higher tolerance than me. I got tired of her the one time I let Aloth keep her.
  13. So glad I had him suppress her. That said he does tell you there's some bulbous luminescence so...lol.
  14. In college a quarter of my class were openly and legitimately LGBT. And I was studying Psychology, not queer studies or something. And as us gays all know, there are also TONS of bi or curious people on the down low. Tons. Y’all really have no idea. For me the issue is less having everybody be bisexual, but more because of the mutability of the PC, this ends up making everybody pansexual in reality. Whatever the actual stats are on the number of LGBT people around, the percentage of people who would go for literally *anybody* regardless of their race, appearance, temperament, morals, & personality is exceedingly low to nonexistent. It would be better if they were all bisexual but still said "no" under certain conditions. I think that's what the affinity system is supposed to be for its just broken as hell.
  15. You should see her reaction if you break it off with him. Ondra would make for the most harrowing mother-in-law horror stories imaginable Wait what. So she's mad if you're with him then she gets mad that you dump him? How does that work? That's what I am saying lol. XD I guess she was trying for some reverse psychology and it backfired spectacularly.

  17. I can forgive Xoti too because it turns out she's psychotic, I don't expect rational behavior from Eora's version of the Son of Sam killer. Yes. Serafan, Pallegina, Aloth and Eder all have plenty of nonromantic content. Xoti and Taekhu are pretty thirsty though but you can shut fishboy down without him going on about it. Xoti apparently is a different matter but you can probably avoid that by never flirting with her. That said I didn't find the POE1 companions all that great outside of Eder and Aloth. (granted I didn't use the WM companions) I don't think any of the companions have plenty of content, platonic or not I thought the whole point of having less of them was to flesh them out more. Here I am left hoping that I'm just missing most of it because of bugs. They feel as fleshed out as the POE1 companions did honestly. Granted there's no Durance or Grieving mother but I never did feel they were particularly well done they just talked a lot and said very little. And people still using playersexual improperly huh? Those buzzwords are really hard to let go.
  18. I think I could stomach his romance if it was like Carth and you could call him out on his bs. But you can't without him getting huffy so it just feels like the PCs forced to be be a doormat or an idiot and I'm just like naaaah. Not to mention the only way to make him palatable is to make him chaotic neutral and that takes way too long. And even then he's whinier than I'd like.
  19. Shark scales especially. They're like tiny teeth! (No, LITERALLY, they're structurally homologous with TEETH) So you're saying there'd be some nasty rug burn huh? How pleasant.
  20. Someone beat DOS2 in about 33 minutes. BG2 has 25 minutes and lower. Speedruns are speedruns. Do not use a speedrun to test a game length. The whole point of a speedrun is to beat the game asap.
  21. Well I had strong feelings for Eothas because he broke my castle, and killed me. It's not like he just steals your soul all my good equipment is gone because of him. That was sufficient for my character's motivation. And I actually do feel weak because my PCs powers are gone so that actually worked for me. That said it's a ymmv situation.
  22. Interesting conversation, I can attest to feeling like PoE is missing a personal hook, but I honestly just wanted to comment on this (in the quote) You are out for revenge. Everyone around you suffers because of your Bhaal blood, they cling to you only to suffer more, you do not care, because you are cacklingly evil. "I'm looking for a wizard who tortured me and I'm going to murder him." Imoen: "You came for me!" PC: "No I didn't, I came for revenge and now everything is screwed up, find your own way out, brat." Imoen: "You can keep the dragon eggs Mr. Demon Lord in exchange for a crappy halberd!" Murder silver dragon to finish human skin armor. Slay popular ranger and his buddies. Slay Irenicus because he stole your birthright. Also you can surround yourself with a party of psychopaths. Evil is built into the story of the BG-trilogy. You either fight it or embrace it. In PoE it really doesn't make sense to be evil, the blood pool and the thing in Deadfire feel really out of place to me. And you are surrounded by condescending bastards. GM straight up just took and left after I juiced that baby. We'll have to agree to disagree because the opening of BG2 as evil never made sense. And then walking into a trap over Imoen who my evil half elf could care less about? Naaah.
  23. ...and Thaos pushes your mind on the fastlane to insanity and - most likely - agonizing death. What I meant was, that the villains themself - and their motivation - aren't personally connected with your character. Again this insanity is very very poorly displayed. I did not feel like the Watcher was going insane. I saw Sarevok kill Gorin and constantly send his mooks at me. I saw Irenicus torture Imoen into a shell of her former self. (Also did Thaos even do that on purpose to the PC? Seemed more like wrong place wrong time if anything. Thaos had no reason to awaken the PC purposely all it did was screw with his plans). Show not tell is very important. POE does a lot of telling and very little showing with Thaos and the Watcher. Can't argue with that... especially the insanity part. The dreaded "Awakening" that loomed over our head should have been presented better. Still, while Sarevok and Irencus did much more hanous things, they still didn't do it "to the player character", they did it to reach their goal... just as Thaos. Sarevok sends mooks after Bhaalspawn, Gorion died only because Sarevok was going to kill the Bhaalspawn for their essense and he died protecting them. Irenicus rips out the Bhaalspawn's soul causing the Slayer to show up and start making them lose themselves to the essence of Bhaal inside them if they don't get their soul back. Not to mention the game opens with him torturing the Bhaalspawn. How is that not directly towards the player protagonist? They hurt the PC's families and friends while trying to get at him/her (and in Irenicus case he succeeds for a time in hurting the protag). Like their goal involved the PC's death and it's they both were hands on about it. Thaos meanwhile did he even mean to awaken the Watcher? Like Thaos is a barely passable antagonist and comparing him to good ones only make him look more bland.
  24. ...and Thaos pushes your mind on the fastlane to insanity and - most likely - agonizing death. What I meant was, that the villains themself - and their motivation - aren't personally connected with your character. Again this insanity is very very poorly displayed. I did not feel like the Watcher was going insane. Watcher got some I see dead people going on, some bad dreams (that don't become clear until near endgame which was really stupid there was little to no need to hold out that revelation) and one dude that was a Watcher go insane but he also had his past lives be pretty vile. Maybe if the Watcher had a background like Maewald did I'd gotten it but that's not the case. And we only see Maewald acting as those two personalities (and his normal self of course) leading to me to believe it's less that he could see his past lives in that his past lives were horrible people. In contrast in BG I saw Sarevok kill Gorin and constantly send his mooks at me. He personally lied about my character, ruined their reputation then I had to do a whole bunch of crap to prove him wrong. I saw Irenicus torture Imoen into a shell of her former self, stole my PCs actual soul (which had actual gameplay debuffs attached to it) stole Imoen's soul, and just be an all around douchecanoe.
