  1. And I didn't say I wasn't able to kill them? I said I had a hard time because one of my spells failed. Because she was? Also I love how "stay on the road." is an argument in a rather open game. The game isn't designed around solo wizard I never said it was my whole point with that was to show even the devs were aware of a wizard's weaknesses at that point in the game. That's why Imoen literally runs up to you because they had players who kept dying on the way to the friendly arm inn. My first playthrough of BG1 had me constantly getting oneshot with my sorc and that was with me following a guide for ideal spell choices. Wizards at low level lagged behind everyone else. It's only once they started gaining levels that they become the bs broken class you get in BG2. (Unless of course you were lucky/experienced enough at the game to be aware of the cheese strats) Buff spells being used prior to combat is exactly why BG's combat was so nonsense at times. Encounters had to be balanced around you having all those buffs so you'd get enemies that were prebuffed up the rear and for me at least it just became a buff race. (and god don't get me started on instant death spells. Ugh just...ugh.) Then the cheese strats of spamming a fully buffed up instant death spell so the enemy could fail a save and no just no. I'm so happy POE wasn't like that. Like POE wizards being BG2 like would make them hilariously unbalanced.
  2. I'd just sacrifice him and get a cool effigy. As it is Maia's gonna have to be it.
  3. Maia and Pallegina...sane? Bouahahahahahahaha Lmao I did a double take too.
  4. Leave my op scrolls alone. Plus hardly anyone uses consumables anyway. Besides arcana is useless otherwise.
  5. The junk with the double bronzers loadout is hilarious. I usually 2 shot nearly every enemy ship. And a few poor sods got one shotted.
  6. What one spell are you talking about? (Also why is it a ridiculous way to start a post talking about bg1 wizards when I just got finished playing one?) Unless you mean burning hands in which case...do you have the HP to take a hit? Because if you're trying to wipe a group of enemies (especially six of them) you're getting hit. Because my sorc started with 6 HP and I didn't even use con as a dump stat. You seem really mad that BG1 wizards were more liabilities than they were helpful at lower levels. Also POE2 chill fog actually. Chill fog is pretty damn good. Also of course a fighter can't take a group of enemies with one spell they don't use spells. (Not to mention fighters don't get AOE anything til like near the end of BG2). Like I love how you're comparing the one class with hordes of aoe abilities to the one that doesn't get any til the second game's nearly over cause theirs is a HLA. Also loool at weaksause. So let's use your same logic. If you think POE2 wizards are weak you're weaksause because if *I* can make them broken and I'm apparently an inferior player to you then POE2 wizards being bad seems to be a you problem doesn't it? Like you do realize Imoen was originally put in the game as a companion because it was near impossible for some player testers using classes (like wizard) to reach the Friendly Arm Inn without help?
  7. To each their own I did love the Spirit Eater thing, but I always play good so it wasn't difficult to manage, and I finished all the content there was. It's one of my favorite games ever till this day. However, I know if you play evil its nearly impossible to complete because you have to consume everything, or the curse kills you. I would have preferred the same thing with Watcher in POE1 - you going mad and have to manage it. But alas... But also I am also somewhat masochistic in this regard, I like these kinds of restrictions, they make the game more interesting to me. If my character is suffering through pain, I'd like to suffer too :D Immersion and all that. I even liked Fallout's water chip (not to say weight of bullets, bottle caps, addiction to drugs, etc.), even though that game was... brutal. They didn't say it was this much smaller. They acted like it was only somewhat smaller. Deadfire shouldn't have involved the Watcher or Eothas at all and just been a game about the factions since that seems to be what they wanted to make. Instead both sides of the game just diminish the other. I think the first bit is our interpretation/misinterpretation. I have nothing against their statements. And the second bit I agree with. I don't mind being the Watcher, its nice to continue our character. But I think Eothas was a plot device for the third game tbh. Yeah I played evil so it was just a hot mess of ruining my RP so the game didn't make me bash my head against a wall. Oh god the water chip. It's not really that bad if you plan it out but still bleh. Like I don't mind the ammo weight because that's easily worked around. It's just full game timer's that make me go "ugh no." Spirit Eater has a special place in my loathing because I was enjoying my evil playthrough until that nonsense hit. If you and Thaos had been the siblings/lovers instead of Iovara then it'd could've sense for him to wait. As it is yeah it's just awkward and holding the idiot ball. Of course that'd required Thaos to actually have emotions so maybe that'd also have been a doomed effort.
  8. Even if he's dead sadly no more dialogue. That said I let him die by accident. I didn't realize I actually had to rush lol. That said Bearn can also reject Eder in which case he goes crawling back to the Watcher which is sad/hilarious.
  9. As someone who just finished playing a bg1 lvl 1 wizard (sorc but same difference) about 30 minutes ago...uh no? I barely was able to kill the assassins to start with. (especially since my luck decided to go nope and spook was resisted).
  10. BG2 wizard doesn't start at level 1. (least it didn't in my imported save). And googled you start at level 7+ or something. BG1 wizard level 1 is garbage. You don't get decent til like...level five ish? Comparing it to BG2 isn't really fair. Lol true I almost forgot. Either way BG1s lvl 5 is still better than POE2 lvl 5 Wizard. Slow spell count ramp up. Gets real OP at like lvl 11 tho. Not really? In BG1 at lvl 5 you have like 7 spells and the vast majority of them are level 1 spells.. (Granted I played sorcs more than wizards but I don't image they have many more spells). Then of course is the fact that pure wizard in BG1 early game is wet tissue paper. Like in BG1 I didn't feel my wizard was worth crap til I got the flaming skull spell and that's pretty late in the game. Though yeah you get ridiculous at lvl 11 but by then POE wizards are pretty hardy too.
  11. You Maia is crazy I was watching Cohh's playthrough and was like NOPE. Least Xoti is open about being loony. Also the variations you get in the conversations depending on personality makes me think when most of the bugs are gone this'll be in my top ten of games. Cause I really enjoy it even though some of the bugs makes me wanna throw my keyboard out a window so when that's fixed and if we get really good dlc :D yeeess.
  12. Not sure why but neither the pet pen or the better captain's quarters will work. Doesn't matter which ship either I simply cannot add it. Edit: wait apparently I was able to do it by forcing the item to glitch on the select screen. I can't imagine that's intended because if so that's odd.
  13. He is definitely not doing it intentionally no, he is anything but malicious. But I think he barely considers them more than animals... He got better in Deadfire, but still. He haven't tried to pet my Captain Watcher yet. There is still hope. I think if I ever made an Orlan it'd be my only character that wouldn't stand Eder.
  14. In my game Aloth is literally red with everyone but Xoti and Pallegina it's hilarious.
  15. There's an approval cheat for him that I used because yeah. I am replaying POE1 and I realized that I am always putting Eder to block the doors. Poor guy. Happens when you travel with two squishy elves. Same. I give my characters 3 con too as you can imagine I'm not overly pleased when those cutscenes happen that force them into the front and they get instant gibbed.
  16. I was screaming at that calm down grandpa option. It was too perfect. (And god how I wish I could say that sometimes at work). It's a giant hunk of adra so he should be okay? Mostly. Shoving him infront of my enemies is my way of showing I care
  17. Oh that's what Eder is for. He's my perma bro. (Also the one that always takes all the hits )
  18. Aloth's my favorite too, but also because I prefer when friendships/relationships carry through several games i.e. Mass Effect. Oh that definitely helps. That slow burn is <3
  19. Curse you now I'm never gonna not notice that I liked the book reading animation too. DX
  20. Wait does the ending change if you clear that place out? I'd hope it would
  21. It is. Aloth's romance is my favorite of course but I have a thing for the quiet ones <3
  22. Yeah my party always just had Imoen in it if my character was good/neutral and...well...my evil party wasn't really constant except for Viconia and Edwin. (Also Edwin's ending is just...really?)
  23. Yeah you've been able to use mods for a while. Just gotta make sure they're properly updated with the latest weidu I believe. Unless an update broke something? I moved over to EE as soon as mods were available for it and that was a few years ago.
  24. Oh I definitely love BG2 but I guess since I played it type late the romances are the one thing that stood out to me as type awful. Which is why people saying their the best romances BW ever done gets eternal side eye from me. Also Sarevok is <3 Irenicus is great at first then becomes a loon like most BW antagonists. That said it was nice to be able to play an actual evil protagonist. Can't really do that anymore Also poor Yoshimo. I wanted to give him a hug. You know it doesn't bother me that Eothas wasn't really evil it's just your interactions with him are really brief. I mean I get he's carting around most of your soul for most of the game but it feels he should've had more of a reason to value your opinion as highly as he does. It feels like there's conversations missing or something I dunno I'm not explaining myself well.
