  1. Yeah I've noticed some weird instances of the wordly tag resulting in approval too, though I don't remember them specifically. I think I obsess over Aloth more than the others due to him being my fav (apart from Zahua) in 1 and my brain is trying really hard not to hate him, and because it's so challenging to get his approval up. At least the others are easy enough to get approval from even if they are sometimes strange (well, the ones I've tried to get approval from anyway), so it's easier to shrug the nonsense off. Someone needs to tell Aloth that hating everyone for dumb crap is also a kind of pride xD
  2. On my second pt, I decided to romance Aloth for old time's sake as I loved him in POE1. However, HOW the heck do you do this? I've intentionally avoided all the fun responses he gurgles at and reloaded when I did it by accident, although doing so is ruining my character for me lol. However, I'm *still* at approval 0. I also avoided recruiting Tekehu for as long as seemed reasonable and instantly after recruiting him was already at +1, and I've flirted with no one. I'm not sure I understand the reasoning behind this aspect of Aloth. He's your buddy from the last game, and in my games ought to actually like the Watcher, so why is it so much harder to get approval from an old friend your watcher stuck with in spite of them lying and being completely weird, and why is he so uptight and judgy? My watchers never even said one negative thing to him about his lying in poe1, let him steal the animancer's records, and play along when they meet im in Deadfire. It's not like his disapproval makes sense a lot of the time; it just makes him come across as a killjoy. Not every lighthearted comment someone makes is worthy of them being hated, especially by a person who's that far off the perfect mark, and making obviously jokey statements about one's own glory is arguably less obnoxious than constant eye rolling and snide comments xD. Also, it's a thin line between "duty" and "tradition" a lot of the time, and I feel like someone who thinks you shouldn't do things just because they are tradition and who believes kith should make their own choices, should also not think people should do any old crap just cos it's their perceived duty (in Xoti's case, it's hard to imagine where her sense of duty comes from, and him approving Maia assassinating people for the RDC just cos she's told to while at the same time he mistrusts the RDC is weird). All in all, he comes across as an uptight, highly judgmental hypocrite who doesn't really want to be in the party at all, or only if you take the people who have no sense of humour and obsess over some duty along. Serafen disapproving of slavery, Pallegina of religious zealots and Tekehu of people who want to mess with his culture, and all of them of racism (I think), just make more sense as values and make them come across as less superficial in spite of Sera and Tek being lighthearted otherwise. Anyhow, my disgruntledness with his imo butchered personality aside, how does one romance him or get him to actually approve of anything? In my last pt I ignored his grumbling for the most part, but still got to +1 after his personal quest.
  3. This happened to me in one game. I had to restart to make him spawn on the beach. I assumed he'd died on the boat. In my current pt, the woman who's normally on the boat when you land on the beach is missing. I was lucky to not get too many bugs in my first pt, but any game I've started since then has been glitchy as hell. - edited to add, while it may be an interesting feature, it would help if we were actually told and not left guessing. In a game with this amount of bugs, it's hard to tell when something like that was intentional. Also might be off putting to new players? I find the longass intro to be really offputting and can imagine some people ditching the game before they even get to actually play xD
  4. I was thinking the same thing. A terrible bug. Yeah. That bug annoys me cause I'm waiting on retraining my main. I forgot about it and now my main sucks xD
  5. Also, why can't the other gods use adra then? I kinda don't buy they are more reluctant to waste kith souls than Eothas is. Isn't Hylea also goddess of all creatures of the sky, inlcuding dragons? And there are hints at mutated mammoth sea beasts that have something to do with Galawain at some point (which was under water). The main issue I have with opaque story lines, is that the vast majority of people will just think - wtf -. One can create complex stories that still make sense, and to me a bunch of gods that need a crummy mortal to stop one of them from doing something they think is terrible is at best describing how useless the gods are, and at worse nonsense.
  6. They try pretty hard at Ashen Maw but it just doesn't work against Eothas. What makes the Watcher special is that Eothas is actually listening to us. I mean not everything we say but he considers our word at least. Gods are probably trying to take advantage of that, not piss us off too much and influence us so we can influence Eothas. That's the feeling I got. That's only Magran though, isn't it? And she says something like she's gonna kill the watcher while doing it. They suck as gods if the lot of them together can't stop one guy and they need to manipulate a crappy mortal to do it. In the end they unintentionally prove what Eothas is trying to prove, i.e. that the gods are pointless and kith can do without them, at least that's what I thought he meant.
  7. I pledged to Hylea in 1 and then did what Wael wanted. She ruined my ship with bird sht. Other than that, you seem to be able to do what you want. I don't get why they have to have the Watcher run after Eothas and try to stop him anyway. Can't they do it themselves?
  8. I have level scaling all on, and imo it is not scaling downwards properly, as I get into fights with no difficulty indicator that end up taking forever. I do no damage, constantly miss and the mages have top tier spells (all attacks are miss or no pen and the mages use arcane reflection). It's not really scaled if they only have lower level hp and I'd prefer to know before I get into tedious fights like that.
  9. I was thinking the same thing. A terrible bug.
  10. I see. So evil & manipulative is the way to go. Mind you, you can get them telling you they like you although you are an ass while being benevolent, since it takes next to nothing to max out dispositions. My last char had all dispositions maxed out except cruel, but still had enough in that to get convos accusing him of it. Eder was like "You're alright although you're nasty" and the one guy from the RDC was talking to me as though I was a complete imbecile for having benevolent, lol.
  11. In my first playthrough I got to round 80+ trying to escape from ships attacking me that I had no hope in hell of beating, and ended up reloading, so I hung around in Neketaka until I could afford the dhow (I think - the small fast ship), then used that until I had enough cash and decent cannons for the galleon. This time I tried to board the other ships instead of running away and was outnumbered 5-1, so again reloaded if I got attacked and quicksaved and constantly paused to check the map for other ships while at sea, then got a junk in neketaka with help of the Berath's blessings + cash. Basicallly, you have to either get a better ship asap or be really good at getting your head around the ship combat, which I personally still struggle with. Apparently some people can get away with keeping the crappy ship you start off with, but ekera, not me, I say. I had no idea at all what to do until I read some advice here. Why can't we keep ships we board instead of buying new ones and/or in addition to ships we already have? Seems like one could have expanded that aspect of the game and let the Watcher build their own fleet. That's not to say I don't like the ships, I do, but they are definitely overwhelming for new players.
  12. I feel like quests not triggering/completing correctly if you don't do the map in a precise order ought to be listed here as I've seen quite a few people mention it. If it's going to be open world, then you shouldn't be able to complete a quest before getting it. Already having items you need for a quest isn't a problem, but talking to someone who randomly prattles about something you allegedly did for them that you know nothing about is just broken. For instance, if you go down the lift in the Gullet before going to the Palace, you'll get the Queen's brother talking to you as if he already gave you some quest there and you have to provide a response that makes no sense unless you already played the game and know what he's talking about. This either shouldn't happen, or areas should remain locked until you acquired access via the quest/s required.
  13. What I don't understand is, the game was in beta for quite a while, so how are there still so many issues? Maybe it should have been released to backers for a final testing phase before being put on sale for everyone? Also, were all the beta testers people who paid to do it on the crowd funding? If so, maybe that's a problem. I find it a bit weird to pay to be a beta tester.
  14. Good question. I'm waiting until they fix the suppressed Iselmyr version to try it out and see. What's wrong with the supressed Iselmyr version?
  15. What opening conversation? When you get him on the ship after Fort Maje and talk about the animancers there is an insight check with an option for you to say that you thought there was something between you and him. Pretty awkward as he's in denial about it. Ugh ugh. Did I mess up? I only remember "I thought we were friends"?
  16. I really wish you could view mage's grimoires when in the level up screen.
  17. I'm not very good at the ship combat and only started winning battles with less injuries / damage than ramming once I'd got hold of a galleon, and even then I didn't get the system really. Like I'd look at the cannons and it would say 40% chance to hit. I'd reduce distance, but the distance displayed stayed the same, now suddenly the hit chance was 90%, but I'd still miss a lot of the time.
  18. in my current game she refused to join my party due to some decision I made in the cc backstory. Does that mean she will join later?
  19. I once played a game called ADOM where you slowly got corrupted and started to disintegrate if you didn't progress fast enough. I never finished it xD Oh my goodness. Love this game. It ate countless hours of my life. Never got close to beating it. This crazy time when you intentionally catch corruption hoping for two “thin and nimble” corruptions so you can enter Quickling’s Tree.... good times. Oh wow, never thought I'd stumble across someone else who played those ancient games. Did you play Nethack too?
  20. Did you get seen picking the lock? I opened it whilst stealthed, killed the boars (with help from Mad Morena's gang) and no one became hostile. I didn't think so, but I may be wrong xD
  21. The Engwithans hijacked the chaotic natural reincarnation when they created a system, the Wheel, to powers their artificial gods (all that happened about 2000 years ago). Eothas broke the system as a test for mortals to "fix". The amount of souls is finite, without reincarnation working (whatever natural or the Wheel) nothing can be born again so eventually everything will be returned to the state of "soul". The 3rd game will probably be about fixing/restoring a reincarnation cycle with various anti-gods/pro-gods factions and Rymrgand being totally against it because he wants the death of all things. I see. I was assuming when Eothas broke the wheel, it would just default back to whatever they had before. I wonder if Rekke's religion and wherever he came from will play more of a role in future.
