Yeah, there are some nice sceneries, and animations on random NPC's. But despite that most planets just feel *too big*, too empty. Especially Taris. Most people hate Republic Taris, and rightfully so. Not quite sure if that's the artists problem, that they just made them too big for the content developed, or the developers issue, that the designers just made what they wanted, and they couldn't do enough with what they got.

I am. And generally every other non-French/German European, being the only European english PvE server. Not that good really when you think it's the one going down most, has the most issues and is generally unstable a lot of times from not being able to handle it's traffic.

Check for an item. If it says "bound" you can't. "Bind on equip", "bind on use" or nothing you can. "Bind on Legacy" (special items) can even be used and then send to your other characters. Those are the only ones that can do that. More questions?

High end graphics are killing the games industry

Of course it's all about expectations. A MMORPG can do super-well, but somehow they all expect to make WoW-money. If not, it's a failure, even when not. Same happens here. Some companies just have insane expectations. Fail them, even if nigh impossible, it could mean the end of your company. (EDIT: Think making a sequel in a year... *cough* KOTOR2 *cough*) And that usually all to please some stockholders. A rotten core indeed. But that's how the financial world goes. No wonder we have an international recession going on, economies of the US and EU are to smithereens. And we all suffer. Fortunately the malaise in gamersworld is easy to avoid by just going to indie-developers or the odd good AAA-game coming out. -
That's a pretty good price actually, they usually go for about 2 million (Red Eclipse). So if someone got some spare cash, you can save yourself a lot of CC (and thus, real money)

No, there are account unlocks. But the question was about equipment. And, as far as I know, that's all just bought for one single character (you can send it over to other chars, but once used it binds. It's not like you get a set for all of them). Yeah, artifact unlock is for endgame. And if you add a purple mod to your orange gear, you wont be able to use it without the unlock. Exception is that all items which you had when subbed are automatically "authorised", so the need depends on wheter you want new (better) gear someday. Which probably is the case

High end graphics are killing the games industry

Don't even have to read the article to agree. It's pretty well known the increased run on graphics made games more expensive to make. And then they couldn't take risks due to that, or well, down the drain. And gamers are pretty much the biggest reason for this. How often have I not crinched when reading gamers complain about graphics. From Telltale's The Walking Dead (why does this adventure not have Crysis 3 graphics) to pretty much every RPG (the overall population are morons and don't understand that RPG's are a bit more complex 'behind the hood' than shooters). Every game that isn't "the prettiest one today" gets that. And of course developers and publishers are going to give masses what they want to buy. So, they aren't really a part of the problem here, the the general mass of consumers are. Of course there are other ways to blow your limit than graphics (Think The Old Republic) but it's really a lot rarer that that happens. Stupidly high publisher expectations (SEGA on Alpha Protocol for example, or Tombraider here) are also to blame for harming game development. Actual successses said failure, and genres that dissapear with it, it's a sad progression. But fortunately for us there is GOG. I have been dissapointed with most recent games. From quicktime, camkill heavy DX:HR to The Witcher II, which was really shallow. I'll just let the modern games slip by and get older games from Steam or GOG, enough to play. And we'll eventually see CoD sales plummeting. It will be interesting to see what it will do with Activision. Probably not much good. And when the giants down, it's interesting again to look at the new gamer environment. Hopefully with less focus on a self-destructive path to new graphics. Shame it's still going to take a while. Let's hope Kickstarter's good in the meanwhile for actually starting up a mid-sector (PE, Torment, Star Citizen). It's funny, that's the reaction many people had on the M4-78EP trailer. And I kind of have to agree. But it's rather hard what to add else. Everyone knows how KOTOR2 works. And actual gameplay probably adds a ton of spoilers in. Although with a 'new game' like PE there should be plenty of trailers to be made showing off things like that I think. Or atleast I hope so. -
KOTOR2 music is the most predominant music in TOR. Yes, even more so than their own KOTOR1. I guess we should be glad they have atleast ignored something NOT of the game. Depends on the unlock. But no, equipment is per character, not account. Combined with the insane pricing for it (around 1500 credits per set, so $15) I think it's a pure waste of money. Enough good orange husks drop during regular play to buy "horse armor" (even if you're the horse instead of the horse... you know what I mean)...

Why have drawbacks? I still think they should go the way of familiars pets with type not mattering, and the bonus it can give being seperate for type (aka not missing out your favorite animal type because you're a warrior and it happens to be +intelligence). The only drawback should be that you have 1. And that you have to choose his bonusses, can't have them all. Good enough for me- 101 replies

What Game Should Obsidian Make
Hassat Hunter replied to Grape_You_In_The_Mouth's topic in Obsidian General
An original IP. I know I'm strange. But what I usually find in these threads are pre-made IPs or evene more often, seuqels. And then we complain in other threads only sequels get made and no original games. It boggles my mind sometimes. Some futuristic RPG being a mix of Blade Runner and Baldur's Gate II would be my preference I would say. While we do get many sci-fi RPG's these days they use to be like Mass Effect, too combat focused. Removing 3rd person, go isometric and character-based combat rather than player-based (pref. real time)... yeah, I would play that... -
Time for a world of hurt... for them! Woohoo. Good thing I play on the lowest difficulty (and my entire team was maxxed to the limit) or my lack of preperation would have doomed me for sure. Also barely left the doctor alive, and the doctor kept the rest alive.

http://www.gog.com/promo/interplay_weekend_promo_120413?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_content=game_subject&utm_campaign=interplay_weekend_promo_120413 A lot of interplay titles on sale. Any suggestions? (I obviously already have the 2 fallouts)

Well, the missions themselves aren't. The space station infact is AWESOME... it's got a definite Peragus/System Shock feel to it. The tediousness starts after that, when you get the scanner and have to find the parts...
-
It dropped Tionese and dailies, like all bosses do. Of course, don't know with 2.0 yet, making LI HM easier and HM FPs more rewarding...
-
It can be good, it can be bad. Had some really good HM FP games. Also really REALLY bad ones. Hit and miss. As for LI HM you mean the big bug outside or the massively "holy ****" droid fight? Since that's the second boss . First went down easy but oh my that droid did us in good each and every time. EDIT About 20m to see chances of 2.0. Logged in to see what some of the differences are... got a METRIC ton of achievements. And about 100 cartel coins (you get them for finishing class stories apparently).
-
Nope, all the voices are original ones by Obsidian. Wait till you hear unmodified G0-T0 (there's a line on Dantooine like that. Although we might have post-processed it ourselves, now remember to check XD). Not ingame but in the files are unmodified droids on Onderon, including HK-47. It's a major difference, let me tell you that .
-
Well, that would be good. It would be bad if anything stood sore out as "should not be part of the game/was added by a mod"... Keep us posted on what you think about it (and the original KOTOR2 )

3 overall for all companions. They're not really necessary. I got artifice for saber parts, but I rarely (if ever) use it. Slicing is nice though. Can't say no to free money
-
There should have been things to tip it off. Ingame sion arrival, Kreia's line, the "new" weapons. HK-51 walking in. A new datalog from the droid repair guy. If those were all not there, it's probably not well installed...
