Is it different from the NWN2 "platinum" package I got on Steam before they took it down?

THQ is dead

Let's hope we can play it without uplay. It would make me a sad puppy... -
So, anyone else here lost 3 hours of gaming when they rolled back The Red Eclipse? :/

Current daily deal; Chaos on Deponia. Apparently, from hearsay, quite a good adventure. I got it, but still need to play the original Deponia first 0_o

Balancing Stealth vs Combat
Hassat Hunter replied to PrimeJunta's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I never liked sneaking about in VTMB, so yeah, I also murdered everyone. No XP. Not a problem with it. As long as it's fun. And if people do want to sneak they can. I am not so petty as to suggest that they should be punished just because I like combat more... -
BioWare likely wont be interested, working on other projects. OE is eager. What other RPG developers are out there to outsource it to? There is CDRed... but I doubt they will be working on it aside from 2120 and what-else-they're working on...

Welcome to Steam. I was once working with Paradox on a title for them. It ways delayed due to the winter-sales (not these ones, the ones before). After that... it still got MIA for 4 to 5 months before it was uploaded. Now it may be that there was under-the-hood tweaking during that time to make it work on Steam, but I really doubt it has been that much or cost that long to do. :/ That's not taking into account some patches on Steam arriving a LOT later. So I wont exactly go ahead and claim it's the developers being slackers...

Degenerate Gameplay
Hassat Hunter replied to UpgrayeDD's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I can see you're being emotional when posting this, since I can't recall trying to be hostile to you anywhere. Also, pretty much :scratchhead: on above sentence. Yeah, assumed you had forgotten. Hence why I pointed it out . It shows with a few NPC's giving rewards some foes can be extra rewarded if needed to be. And it would solve issues like "why would I kill the Winter Wolf near the Inn?" Well, for it's pelt and the extra bounty on it's pelt in Nashkal. Indeed. Which IMO is a good progression. PE is taking it a step further even. It's going bad to the point someone made about that they fixed "loopholes" in the combat-XP system. And I still think this is indeed an evolution of that idea. Especially when made with the mindstyle that it shouldn't allow just combat, but more modern popular tropes like the diplomat or the stealthy RPG-player. When the BG's where released RPG was pretty much a dead-genre. Since being made from the ground up of course they were a little limited. But since then RPG's made advancements. Some good, some bad. If you aren't making a modern RPG without looking at the good advancements, you're just harming yourself. Same for the bad advancements. They should be kept in mind as so to not repeat issues that were already encountered in the past. If you just forget or ignore them you're just bound to repeat them again. And also while we could make just a game for the RPG-players of old (us), wouldn't you want to open up the genre to the others too? Allow them to have their classic too? Make them also enjoy a solid RPG like it's meant to be instead of, say, Mass Effect? I would think the more people we can love these types of games the better. Without starting to make the game dumbed down to suit everyone's needs of course... It wasn't really much a reply to you, as well as frequent statements in this very thread that without combat-XP exploring would be useless. Completely ignoring the facts that it would wield XP and rare treasures (some people apparently think they're lying around on the street). Honestly, personally, without XP exploring would still not be useless to me, but it was just making a point to the people who think exploring was useless since exploration apparently doesn't wield much more than just foes with no XP. I still think some people are in the mindset Obsidian is making a Torchlight III or Diablo IV from some of the discussions and points made here, rather than Baldur's Gate III or Planescape: Torment. -
Degenerate Gameplay
Hassat Hunter replied to UpgrayeDD's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Because you took one NPC giving money as bounty as example to mean every monster got their own bounty NPC? Which wasn't even the intention of said poster. Also, Baldur's Gate had 2 bounties, not 1. The Winter Wolves. And the scalps of the bandits. You forgot one of the most important one, namely combat-XP. Although I assume you left it out on purpose, no? And people here want to adjace it with lockpick-XP, mine-XP etc., even though BG2 and KOTOR2 already showed us that's... really bad. I fail to see what's degenerate or even bad about having people explore the entire gameworld. I've seen several times in this thread "JE Sawyer made exploring pointless due to no-combat XP"... well, exploring gives XP after all. RAGE! I honestly... do not understand. -

Not really... that's what you have multiple fighters for. Send the 2 hander after the heavy armor guys, while your sword-melee hunts lighter targets. No need to switch 4 times in one battle... -
It's been a while. It might be that you actually need to select it before going on the mission (and thus, you bring one single type of ammo along)...

Chris Avellone Plays Arcanum
Hassat Hunter replied to Adam Brennecke's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
You realise you can fast-forward youtube vids right? So if you only have 10 min, the next time you go to the 10:00 mark. And longer vids would indeed be nicer for most, and less vids overall to upload. I only see wins. But... tell me of your first world problems preventing you to skip to where you left- 112 replies

I went with the Youtube vids. Of course need commentary from MCA, not just playing through... (must like your playthrough of IWD2 I assume). 10 min is way too few though... should be bigger per "episode"- 112 replies

Degenerate Gameplay
Hassat Hunter replied to UpgrayeDD's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
It first perfectly in the idea, more content? More reward. IMO the way it should be. And why is it degenerate to have people experience more of the world? Is it "degenerate" to make players experience the whole game? Sounds odd to me... The only way you're not getting rewarded if you stay in the same old areas doing nothing new. To me, that sounds like grinding. Deus Ex was released before WoW if you must know... and it's pretty much from there. Also, I seriously doubt ANYONE would want mmo quest systems in PE. So not sure what that's about... -
Balancing Stealth vs Combat
Hassat Hunter replied to PrimeJunta's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
You know you just gave a perfect example why stealth isn't automatically easier than combat, right? In your example the combat person only has 50 orcs to deal with. The stealthy person however got the same 100 orcs to try again. Also, from what I hear there's about 12 or so levels in PE. From the way you make it sound it's like you level regarly. This isn't 150 levels Diablo. Leveling up wont happen very frequent. So making points like "it makes the difference between a level up all the time" is a pretty non-existant thing in PE. EDIT: Also, you should *REALLY* play Vampire: Bloodlines... -
Maybe you don't have that ammo type? The alternative ammos do drop rather rarely, so your better off to visit the market and buy them. Then you can use them...

Josh Sawyer on Miss and Hit

I'd be fine if the "encyclopedia on rock monsters" would mention their armor being high, or a journal noting such after a few kills. Just, don't think it's good for pop-over. But according to Josh, that's already in. Maybe to accomidate some strange combinations (heavily armored yellow's?)... or it was too hard to note on appearance after all. -
Degenerate Gameplay
Hassat Hunter replied to UpgrayeDD's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
If you complete an objective for a quest, even if you don't have the quest, you would still get the XP. Also, there is XP for exploring. And as stated before, for quests/objectives it's given in fractions, so if you do partial quest here, partial there, you still gain XP. Honestly; I think all your "fears" and "gapholes" are unfounded and simply not there... -
Josh Sawyer on Miss and Hit
Hassat Hunter replied to Hormalakh's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
As for Hormalakh's question, can't speak for OE, but I'd rather we had to distinguish it ourselves from ingame clues (plate armor, shells on beetles) than having it provided as is ingame, even if it may be low, medium, heavy, very heavy. And no ingame HP display either. Fine with BG's "almost dead, full-health" on using tab on them though, but there's no need to, like modern RPG's, give their exact numerical HP possessed and left. My 2 cents. -
One of the great things of Chain Shot is that it's pinpoint accuracy, where you click is where it lands. Hence being known as one of the most overpowered powers in AP, since with a single Chain-shot triple shooting a boss in the head most are dead or near-dead. It should work like a regular shot... move the mouse, click, that's your goal. You may need to advance down the skilltree to unlock more shots to the Chain Shot (has been a while, pretty sure you don't start with 3 though)...

Hassat Hunter replied to Hormalakh's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I much rather had that touch attacks always hit. You are making your Wizard a prey getting that close after all, while he should be in the back being safe. Of course with plate armor wizards in PE, that might not be so true they are really so much at risk then... it could still be used for unarmored or wizard robes touch spells (and armor prvents casting of said spells). (still not that much a fan of high-armored wizzies though to be honest) -
Degenerate Gameplay
Hassat Hunter replied to UpgrayeDD's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I may attend to the Paladins point is I am not tired later. For now; Hard isn't just giving enemies more damage and HP (IE games). Hard can replace enemies with stronger foes, or add enemies. Under a XP-per-kill system this means people playing hard get more XP. Hence people playing that level faster. And hard may turn easier than the "easy" path eventually not giving that XP. Under an objective system that's not a problem. If they not turn back to the combat-XP system it will be. And they have ANOTHER factor of balance to add in the equation. Instead of designing encounters the developers want, they suddenly have EVEN MORE restrictions enemies and setups they can use (not to underlevel or overlevel easy or hard combatpaths). Tell me how you solve this, combat-XP people. And no, making hard using just basic added damage and HP is no solution... -
What works good in movies doesn't always works in games. If you keep inherrently true when it shows your game is going to be better twisting them then your game is going to suck.
