My history with these games and why POE is such a treat for me at this time of year
asnjas replied to Brandon Collette's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Subjectivity card activated. Surely we can and must consider the game itself and not just each individual's preference or else we are forced to accept absurd claims from boneheads like bieber and brittany are equal to Mozart and queen.

Quick question about this game

Ye Great but Totally Subjective 'PoE' Comparison Table
Full on voice over not needed. It sounds great on paper just like each blade of grass being animated sounds great. I sont think they have unlimited resources to do either one. Just let us read. We can do it. It isnt boring. Also if something works ok in one game it doesnt mean we need to see it everytime. Imagine if every final fantasy game had materia system and huge swords. Are skill trees really that awsome? If its rehash, can we at least get skill octogons or skill little dippers? Has anyone played a video game before? Skills trees provably more common than princesses and castles at this point.

Playthrough idea - The Regular Joes
asnjas replied to Frog Man's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)A monk/ranger is about as regular joe as it gets. Just a dude and his companion. The class is the wanderer o believe. Pick a dog or wolf and use a staff weapon. Just his fists and animal buddy fighting and clawing for justice. You might go the drugg monk version like some lowlife wanderer. You might go the sharpshootin ranger like some keen eyed rebel that doesnt take any shht. Maybe even the ghost heart crybaby that lost it all due to misfortune and wanders with nothin to lose.

How about an atheistic, non-magical support class?
asnjas replied to asnjas's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Belfetto aimico. An animancer class fits just what im lookimg for, no? The only merla problem is that animancer skills might overlap with the merla cipher. Both classes would manipulate soul stuff but in different ways. One scientifically with tons of copper and the other naturally like an xmen. What say?

Bekarna's Folly 8 insight check
If a mage specializing in tentacle magic can be let in then a rogue specializing in pulling quarters from behinds ears certainly has a chance.

How about an atheistic, non-magical support class?
asnjas replied to asnjas's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Of course they can be athiest. It goes back to poe1. What the definition of a god? The engwishans can be considered man made plastic gods. They took simple human beans and gained more and more power until theyre godlike. They are not natural organic. Is man made god still a god? They are like robots given more and more human characteristics and enhancements. Some people might say no matter what they are never truly human despite all the saliva, hair, thinking and emotion the robot has. The argument can be given that yes they are gods despite the above, but its still reasonable to be athiest in the poe world.

After playing Kingmaker..
asnjas replied to Kilburn's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)The story has to start somewhere. The game needs to create a shoving off point where you have story context and simple game mechanics. Yeah sure youre all hotshot veterans, but most players are not. Most players dont know the story beg to end and mechanics inside and out. The intro familiarizes the player with both before shoving them off to an open ended game. Plus how do you expect a story to begin without a set in stone intro "dungeon"? Even choose your own adventure books have the same page one. No matter what decisions you make, page one is identical for each read.

Trying to start PoE2, lol, hard.
asnjas replied to Jarmo's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)If they gave you context and descriptions, would you even read them? 5 bucks says you would make meaning out of the 8 or so custom choices real fast. Finally get the game, start up a new character and in char creation youre reading a mini poe1 wiki? I doubt it.

How about an atheistic, non-magical support class?
Hi I propose a non magical class that has no ties to arcane, diety or nature. Just a scientific, hard hat, roll up your sleeves support focused class that utilizes science over magic. We have non magical defenders and damage dealers in fighter rogues. But no support. I know some people might say we have xhanters. They have no diety or hippie magic but they do use magic, lighting, skeleton control, mind control magics etc. Im talking about no ****ing magic. Im talking about a scientist or alchemist or something. They use good ole fashion science to understand the how the world works and this understanding is reflected in their skill set. Seeing as how stupid and useless the consumables are, why not remove that junk and give it to the science class. Remove all that junk. Give the science class active skills that are the traps, potions, posions and drugs. These skills follow the same per battle use as all other actice skills. A little redesign and number adjustment for these skills is necessary but you get the idea. This is the down and dirty idea. At the very least, design the skills around the theme of drugs, poisions, bombs and devices that the scientist creates.

How to quickly get Very Negative reputation with companion
I recieved this achievement and was suprised so few people have it- like less than 5%. I dont remember getting it. Does a characters opinion of you drop to minimum if you do something that would force them to immediately leave party?

Fyonlecg and Jon Irenicus
Its time for more..... experiments.

Just bought it!
asnjas replied to Slack83er's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Of course monks fit the lore. The whole game is made by the same devs. They designed the entire game with the classes, deputies and world all in mind. Its like when people say the pirate theme doesnt fit. 😂👍

How did i piss everyone off jhc
asnjas replied to asnjas's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)People love cpt jack sparrow; what's your point? People love pirates in general, arrrrgh. After thinking about it more, as a matter of fact, pirates are easily ranked higher than both zombies and ninjas. You guys act smug cause i didnt add together principy flag and aggro, but, according to reason and statiatics, all factions should be falling head over heels.

How did i piss everyone off jhc
asnjas replied to asnjas's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)My current factions are 1 for huna, rautau and Valencia. Prinipia is 5. I guess higher is better. They are all one but is one low enough for them to start attacking. Just now i verified royal deathfire and Valencia both attacked me. Also im using principy colors ever since forth deadlight and the murder of benwich.

Painted masks something is screwed
Im on painted masks quest with alarad and heres what i got: i went to oiki koki and killed everyone. They all went hostile after i snuck around and climbed the waterfall into the secret chamber back room. I also told that wooden lift lady where to put her crank. I later read a guide which told me i had to find a deserted ship. I never found that ship. After i killed koiki koki, i sailed all around the island looking for the deserted ship but found nothing. I also needed to read someones soul but i seqrched all over and found no purple misty soul interactions. My journal currently says: search ohi kokikoki for signs of leaden key, there are signs of leaden key because of mask like face painting and i may be able to learn more by looking around. I have not found anything.
