Well there are some druid spells that are pretty nice if you cast them before shifting. One can see them as additions to the passive Wildstrike abilities. Form of the Delemgan is great and so is Avenging Storm (if it's still in the game). And lets not forget Returning and Relentless Storm. All those spells that you cast once and then they're up an running are a bit like active abilities. If only the casting times where a bit shorter so that preparing the Spiritshift wouldn't take ages...

I'm curious what they will come out with next any idea?

Well the lore/world/ideas behind Tyranny was/is nice (for me). I just loathe the game mechanics and the character building. Does Obsidian own the IP on Tyranny? Or is it Paradox's? -

I think The Sharmat wrote some decent review - I don't have to agree to every point in order to acknowlegde the work and thoroughness. -
This starts to annoy me... and bore me at the same time. What is this called? Annoredom? Borenoyance? This doesn't happen when someone disagrees, it only happens as soon as you write weird, uncovered stuff haphazardly. It's toxic in the long run. By the way most of the answers are pretty reasonable - yours are not always among them.

No, there isn't even an option when it comes to the subclasses. They are fixed. So for example Serafen can't be a normal cipher or a Wild Mind, instead he always is a Wild Mind (also when multiclassing). Tekehu is always a Storm Speaker and can't be a normal chanter (if you take the chanter class for him in the first place).

Maybe something like that. But why not copy & paste the code from old Blast to new Blast in the first place? It did trigger on-hit/on-crit effects, but at least it didn't translate stuff like Runner's Wounding Shot's hobbling to the AoE. Same with Spirit Lance. They even nerfed Blast, Minor Blights and Spirit Lance once I wrote that Envenomed Strike poisons enemies in an AoE when used with those - and took that "oversight" out of those effects. They had it all fixed (except Carnage) and then *bam* they start all over again with the same stuff. I mean I like Blast or Spirit Lance + Arterial Strike or Stunning Blows in Deadfire - it's powerful and fun and worth to build a whole character around it. I just can't get onto the train of thought...

"The Dark Eye" in English. DSA is the German abbreviation. CRPGs based on that Pen & Paper RPG are for example: - Blackguards I & II - Drakensang - Realms of Arkania series and so on... nothing too spectacular, but ok. It's Germany's biggest RPG system. It has some really douchy rules but also some great ones (gets better with every iteration though). Its strength is the overbundance of lore, background info and gaming material.

The cap: I didn't really monitor it and only used it in one single playthrough, but I think I never saw it trigger more often than once per encounter. As far as I know a confused enemy will also get a disengement attack - only if he is engaged by somebody of course. But I never tested this as well. Usually confused, non-flipped enemies don't run around that much. The Restore Spiritshift proc of the soulbund scepter only triggers once per encounter. And if it procs before you shifted it's totally wasted. The procs of the Grey Sleeper are not limited. Nature's Marlk on Greentsone Staff is 1/encounter as it says. I never checked if Calling the World's Maw is really 1/rest, but I guess it's correct as well. Vent Pick's proc of Flames of Devotion is not limited. And Badgradr's Barricade procs Thrust of Tattered Veils unlimited times per encounter. Actually the only thing that I know of that doesn't work as described (in terms of proc limitations) is Psychic Backlash.

Glanfathans are people who live in Eir Glanfath - so technically Enwithans were Glanfathans as well. But yes, I actually meant Engwithans, not Glanfathans. I just read the post above mine and went with the term without thinking.

Two things about mechanics: - The Devil of Caroc is not only slightly better than most people think, she is way better. She has all the immunities of a construct: Dominated, Sickened, Confused, Unconscious, Charmed, Disease and Poison. Every paladin who likes his defenses would kill for those advantages. Because of this, one can build very effective party synergies with her. For example she can't get hit by your Malignant Cloud or Noxious Burst... She's also not affected by Lagufaeth Blowdarts. - Zahua's Anitlei is actually a very good ability. Because it stacks with every other speed buff. Since most speed buffs stack multiplicatively (IF they stack) this can have a big impact on his dps. For example: Anitlei is the only way to reach 0 recovery when using fists as weapons (without using random Gauntlets of Swift Action or consumables) or - if you find Gauntlets of Swift Action - to use Vulnerable Attack with fists without losing 0 recovery. That's +5 damage without speed loss which is the equivalent of a +40% additive dmg bonus (when using fists). -

You also need an adra disc, not only the two adra spheres. It's on the same floor as the spheres. Are you sure you read all the descriptions thoroughly? Maybe you missed that part. Once you also insert the adra disc as well a scene gets triggered. -
Patch 3.07.1318 Is Now Live!
Boeroer replied to Sking's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
He's not saying he's having a hard time because the game is too difficult - he's saying that he's having a hard time because some values/mechanics are constantly changing, things get secretly nerfed and that every patch introduced new bugs. Everything he said is correct. While I don't support the tone - the points he makes are valid. Overhauls of game mechanics and balancing passes are totally fine with me (even if it hit my builds more than once). Gives me more motivation to play the game again. However - the part "introducing new bugs with every patch" really bothers me. If I (as a self employed software engineer) delivered such weak QA to my customers (mainly industry) I would get grilled - and rightfully so. And I say that despite being addicted to PoE. -
It was said by Josh that the Glanfathans weren't technologically advanced nor did they have better animancy skill in genereral. They just excelled at one particular field of animancy, and that was the translation and transformation of essence on a grand scale. Read this some days ago on either Twitter, Something Awful or Tumblr - can't remember where. So it might be that we won't see any old but advanced Glanfathan technology other than the known machines that transform or transport souls. But Eora is big - who knows what some forgotten ruin in a remote part of the world might contain? It is good that the whole lore of Eora is still underreported - more room for cool new stuff...

If you compare 11 yeah to 13 meh and leave the "I can't decide" folks away then 50/50 is not that far off.

That's because Blast extends the proc chance via AoE onto multiple targets. For a priest and druid the proc chance is pretty low. Also compare Unlabored Blade on a Barb or Monk with Unlabored Blade on a fighter for example. Or Stormcaller on a ranger (Twinned Arrows+Driving Flight) with Stormcaller on a chanter or cipher. Grey Sleeper's proc chances trigger all the time with a Barb or a Monk (with Torment's Reach) but less often on other melees. This is a balancing problem for proc chances in PoE.

That has nothing to do with class based restrictions. Those are just crap and force certain setups because items are poorly balanced. They take away options and reduce variety and replay value. Once there is a reason to wear a certain type of armor it will be used. If it's a design goal that every armor has its place in your game your job as a designer is to make sure that every armor brings something useful to the table. I can't see this in Deadfire yet - but we don't know unique armors yet. If I only look at the system and compare DR with AR/PEN I'd say Deadfire does a worse job than PoE when it comes to the balance/viability of all types of armor. A system like DSA where thick armor reduces your accuracy and defense is a good example how you can create motivation to not wear heavy armor (unless you want to invest in talents or abilities that remove penalties). Sadly, also DSA uses class restrictions for armor and even weapons.

I hope for something like Spark the Souls of the Righteous - but as a chant.

The Silver Flash is quite special: it causes blind in a cone-shaped AoE (Silver "Flash") - and not only enemies, but allies as well. No talent is needed - it's an enchantment of the weapon itself. The pierce damage is 6 pellets that hit one single foe - like all other blunderbusses. It also has a spell chance of Divine Mark. It's 10% per pellet. So with one shot (6 pellets) the chance to proc Divine Mark is ~47% which is really good. I guess it's also possible that it procs multiple times with one single shot (if more than one pellet procs). Maybe others can confirm. I actually never used it besides a bit of tinkering - so I don't know if the cone size will change with INT. Speaking of blunderbusses: Fulvano's Blunderbuss from the Deadfire Pack seems to be broken: it never ever triggered charm for me - not even once. And I used it from lvl 5 to lvl 9 with Pallegina - so one can't say I didn't try...
