Will surely work. In the early game the advantage of high endurance/health pools is not obvious because they are still small compared to crit damage of enemies and armor. That's why I took Veteran's Recovery first. So don't give up after a hard beginning. Barbs need some time. Once in Defiance Bay he will get really meaty.

Loading times are disgusting

Yes, clear your stash. That should help a bit. Having an SSD also helps a lot, but I guess that's no option. -
Just fooling around. Please don't feel bullied. I think that wasn't anybody's intention. For me, the casting system in the beta3 suffers from long casting times, that you lose your resource if you cancel a spell by yourself, that spells in one tier are badly balanced, that uses in the early game are very limited while there are too many in the later game, that most damaging spells don't have enough PEN to make it through without serious AR debuffs, that wizards subclasses have imbalanced advantages/drawbacks. Maybe more, I just woke up and it could be that I missed something. Some of it already got adressed but the changes are not yet in the beta.

More seriously: it's not that hard to remember what stat has which affliction. All fear stuff is resolve, mind control is intellect and so on. I think you can also just open the char sheet during combat and have a look at the affliction in detail that is currently on your char. What I struggle with a bit more is to memorize which inspiration is attached to which stat because they also have those funky new names. Tenacious and Robust and Acute and whatnot...

It's a creature's ability. Usually a player won't see this icon. So why bother?

ah, 'cause "absolutely" makes it less subjective. gotcha. HA! Good Fun! Nice. High Five! But who argued about subjectivity anyway? I just thought it's a tiny bit funny to praise something as absolute epicness (like free from imperfections) while stating that a considerable part of it is bad. Didn't want to say anything about subjectivity at all. Just this: that Greek carrot cake is absolutely epic in the most objective way possible though.

WTF are sidekicks?

Rekke has bats in the belfry - and he's a sidekick. -
I guess there is no high CON Barb in the build list because it's pretty straightforward. But here is one with which I did a "The Ultimate" attempt (died at lvl 16 in Noonfrost/Twin Elems because of a bug with Battle-Forged + Second Whind - leading to self-hits with very high burn damage): The trick is to dump DEX but balance this out with dual wielding hammers, Frenzy, Bloodlust + Blood Thirst. Retaliation also triggers Bloodlust & Bloodthirst when it kills, reducing recovery to 0. YOu just don't care about deflaction at all but just heal it all away. You don't have to minmax though: Race: Fire Godlike Culture: Old Vailia Background: Colonist Skills: survival 14 Stats: MIG: 18 CON: 18 DEX:03 PER: 16 INT: 20 RES: 03 Talents: Veteran's Recovery Weapon Focus Soldier Two Handed Style Accurate Carnage Barbaric Blow Savage Attack Wound Binding Vulnerable Attack (maxing out Heart of Fury's damage) Abilites: Frenzy Savage Defiance Bloodlust Blood Thirst One Stands Alone Heart of Fury Dragon Leap Blooded Items: headgear: none (Godlike) neck: Lost Periapt of the Winding Path (+RES, + Concentration, Consecrated Ground on getting crit) armor: Blaidh Golan (great against stun & prone, +2 MIG) belt: Belt of Bountiful Healing gloves: Gauntlets of Accuracy rings: Ring of Protection, Iron Circle (+4 CON), Ring of Searing Flames (if maximum HoF damage is needed, for example in bounty fights) boots: Fenwalkers (great against hobbled, stuck and paralyzed) weapons: Shatterstar + Godansthunyr All Healing is boosted by +115% (MIG, survival bonus, belt), also healing that cures health, like potions of Infuse and Wound Binding (will usually fully restore your health once per rest). It will be really hard to kill you because not only your healing is powerful (= extends the high endurance a LOT), but also because you have an immense health pool (also because of Wound Binding that will double your immense health pool). Most afflicitons can be countered with the enormous fortitude defense (hich stats + Frenzy) and also with Blaidh Golan and Fenwalkers, both don't come late. Since you usually only catch grazes of those nasty afflictions like paralyzed/prone/stun the reduced duration (-3 secs Fenwalkers, -50% prone/stun) you often cancel them completely. Petrified is still a major pain in the tailbone so beware Andragans - althoug the massive fortitude helps a bit (grazes mostly, still long enough). Offense is good as well. You start with Frenzy, jump in with Dragon Leap, trigger Heart of Fury (killing a lot, triggering Bloodlust + Blood Thirst), finishing with Barbaric Blow. Theoretically you could retrain and skip Blood Thirst after getting Durgan Steel (=0 recovery with Frenzy + Bloodlust), but I didn't bother. There are still situations when Frenzy runs out and Bloodlust alone is not enough. With a full party one could use some other cool items, but this is my Ultimae Barb who couldn't do stronghold adventures. A really powerful variant is with the Royal Deadfire Cannoneer Belt + Forgemaster's Gloves, using Firebrand as main weapon. Basically same build, but a bit more DEX and skilled for two handed use. Another variant would be with Tidefall: even more healing and great damage with wounding, but a bit less with Heart of Fury. Another high CON build is a dwarven spirit hunter monk from Rauatai with 20 starting CON, using Iron Circle and dual Whispers of Yenwood (Helwax Mold clone), using Iron Wheel and max DR, Ghost Hunter + Bartender's Ring for damage & flavor. You'll have 28 "base" CON with this and with Iron Wheel + plate a ton of DR. Very hard to kill and great against all sorts of banshees, shades, specters and so on. I can't say if those would also work flawlessly in Deadfire - too much has changed. But the basic principle (high CON + buffed up self heals) should work even better because there's no health bar anymore. As long as you can heal enough you won't have to rest.

Cool. Cleansing Flame works with all DoT effects, including wounding from Tidefall, Runner's Wounding Shots like you said and also Swarm of Insects and Plague of Insects, Shining Beacon (very powerful combo) and so on. It does not work with beams and stuff like Wall of Flames and Chillfog and so on. Those don't apply a DoT effects with "ticks" on the enemy but work with pulses which do a new hit roll every time. The DoT effect has to be attached to the enemy (you can see it at work when you mouseover the enemy) and then Cleasing Flame should double the ticks. By the way: the Cleaning Flame + DoT trick works much better with a second priest like Durance in the party. Wounding and Runner's Wounding Shot are quite short-lived and as a single priest you will lose ticks during recovery. With St. Gangrene + Durance you can divide the work: Let Durance cast CĂ–eansing Flame while you do a Runner's with Tidefall - that will be the most effective way. By the way: Inspiring Radiance ALWAYS stacks - even with itself. So with Durance + St. Gangrene you can have +20 stackable ACC in every fight. Makes the early game a lot easier.

Instead of Devoted you could also use a Sharpshooter. Since you are switching the slower recovery of the Sharpshooter isn't important as well as the Two Weapon Style. And you also get PEN like a Devoted plus an animal companion. Also Wounding Shot with blunderbusses is really good. Especially once you get Accurate Wounding Shot which often leads to crits, then overpenetration and then +30% damage with the blunderbusses. I would say this is better than Devoted overall, but I didn't compare them ingame. Also later: Driving Flight = even more focus. But you will only have two weapon slots, not three. To balance this out a bit you'd have Gunner though. Another alternative would be Black Jacket/Cipher for an additional weapon slot (4) and even faster switching. That's 8 blunderbuss shots with Tactical Barrage... also not bad. Best ranged option for me so far (for a cipher) is Cipher/Wizard with Kalakoth's Minor Blights in one hand and a dagger in the other.

The PoE class that profits the most from high CON is the Barbarian. Since his deflection is very low and his endurance and health base is very high (endurance on par with the monk's, health the highest in PoE). In Deadfire the Berserker for example suffers self damage while frenzied. A Helwalker suffers +5% damage per wound he has (and gains +1 MIG). So here high CON might be good as well. Also because of the fortitude defense of course, which still seems to be the most important defense against most dangerous CC abilites.

I also think there's not enough time to tweak whole systems properly after feedback. But at least we can report game breakers and other bugs that we encounter.

Two things to consider: 1. Since The Long Pain is a ranged weapon you won't have engagement slots. That means that enemies can just run past you while you want to stop and tank them - no stopping of movement and disengagement attacks from your side. 2. Turning Wheel doesn't work with the Long Pain - so I don't know if Fire Godlike + Long Pain is such a good combination.

The early levels are hard. That's because the starting values of priests (when it comes to accuracy, deflection and endurance) are pretty weak and you don't have all the talents to compensate yet. What I found very helpful in the early game are the following things: don't tank! Use the priest like a flanker and engage when the tougher guys are already in the fray. Later in the game you can go into the front line though. don't dump CON. Because your health pool is already small you don't want to make it even smaller. Excessive resting would be the result. pick Veteran's Recovery asap. It's great with maxed MIG and INT and gives you a lot of additional endurance without having to cast anything. grab a plate armor and a Blunting Belt asap (the Moon Godlike in front of the temple of Eothas has one, else you have to wait until Raedric's Hold) cast Armor of Faith often in the early game. Here it has the biggest impact (later I would master Holy Meditation because I would drop RES). get Inspiring Radiance. +10 ACC that stack with everything. get The Pallid Hand. +10 ACC in the early game is golden. Now you have the same ACC as a fighter. Use the Corrosive Siphon, don't forget it: it can be a life saver. Race: Boreal Dwarf of Mountain Dwarf or Coastal Aumaua or Human Culture: The Living Lands (+1 MIG) Backgroud: Colonist (+2 Survival) Skills: Survival 12 (14 with item - for getting +60% healing), rest Athletics (if any) Stats: MIG: 21 CON: 10 (not lower. Veteran's Reecovery will heal, but health will have to be restored with a potion of Infise with Vital Essence if resting is no option) DEX: 16 PER: 10 (you can get away with this because of Inspiring Radiance/Blessing/Devotions, early superb Tidefall etc.) INT: 18 RES: 03 My talent picks would be: Veteran's Recovery Inspiring Radiance The Pallid Hand Weapon Focus Soldier Two Handed Style Aggrandizing Radiance Envenomed Strike Runner's Wounding Shot Items: Head: Hermit's Hat --> Tempered Helm -> Maegfolc Skull or Executioner's Hood Neck: Fulvano's Amulet --> something with stat bonus once you have a belt of bountiful healing --> Mantle of the Excavator Armor: Plate --> Sanguine Plate -> Wayfarer's Hide (or He Carries Many Scars for thematic reasons) Belt: Blunting Belt -> Belt of Bountiful Healing --> Belt with +3 MIG (only if you chose Executioner's Hood over Maegfolc Skull) Hands: Fulvano's Gloves --> Gauntlets of Accuracy --> Siegebreaker Gauntlets Ring: Minor Ring of Protection --> whatever you can get --> Ring of Protection, Ring of Thorns --> Gwyn's Band of Union Boots: Shod-in-Faith Weapon: Great Sword --> Justice --> Tidefall (put on a corrosive lash) / Abydon's Hammer (for casting Shining Beacon for example)
