Actually I find Ranger single class quite good. Whirling Strikes is not bad (try Amra with Bleeding Cuts). Barb also. Especially with dual mortars single class Barbarian is a beast due to Heart of Fury. Counterintuitive, I know because it's ranged. But SC Barb Serafen with his dual mortars just annihilates mobs.

May be that you removed a certain buff from Belranga with Veilpiercer. This "buff" might be crucial for her - and once removed this bug with infinite dmg can happen. My guess is that you removed a special effect (that makes her so unique) which is not supposed to be removed - and that OBS simply forgot about Veilpiercer (or suppression in general). Just a wild guess though. But I remember the good old PoE1 days where you could remove a dragon's immunities with Arcane Dampener - that was also not intended and got fixed pretty soon.

v3.0.0 Patch Notes

Never experienced that. But on the other hand - I never double-click an item - so... -
For Maneha: depends on talent/ability choice. If you take Frenzy, Bloodlust and most importantly Blood Thirst I would use a weapon with high dmg per hit. For example Tidefall. Tidefall is one of the best damage-on-hot weapons in the game. Another great (really really great) option is to pick up and level the Belt of the Royal Deadfire Cannoneer and give her Forgemaster Gloves and summon Firebrand in every encounter (you'll have 6 uses per rest). Pick everything that gives bonus dmg (Two handed style, One Stands Alone and so on). Also Scion of Flame since it works with Firebrand. If you want to focus on Heart of Fury you want dual sabres, all dmg bonuses, Two Weapon Style, Vulnerable Attack and a Ring of Searing Flames. Kana is best with a small shield (Little Savior), hatchet, a really fat armor and the one and only phrase "The Dragon Thrashed" and nothing else. Give him gear that increases MIG, INT, a Ring of Overseeing and the amulet "Voice of the Mountaintop". Even if enemies run past him - they will be dead soon anyways... Oh, and take Ancient Memory/Beloved Spirits and Veteran's Recovery. Makes him very sturdy.

Single class characters not only reach PL 8 and 9 but also get all abilities (except from PL 1) a lot earlier. Most abilities scale with Power Level. For example Flames of Devotion's base damage scales with Power Level. So a single class Paladin (who has more PL at the same level as let's say a Paladin/Chanter) does more damage per (pure) FoD use. Monks are especially good as single class characters because their fists scale with Power Level as well. Also their high level abilities (PL 8 & 9) are really great. I personally don't think that SC lacks power compared to Multiclass in general.

Gun is not the same as firearm. "Gun" comes from "gonne" which is a heavy crossbow. Only later the term gun was mostly used for firearms and cannons. So using the term "gunnery" to describe a technique to reload reloading two handed ranged weapons is not that weird if you consider at what "in game" time Deadfire takes place. I guess... Same as "Gunner" from the Ranger's tree works with crossbows and firearms alike.

Damn, Rogues have such high utility in every game. And Boerer, while you are here: Are Paladin/Ranger melees (Aragorn) viable now after the patch as a DPS class? I don't want the pet, so it will be Ghostheart. Weren't they viable before? Lots of Full Attacks with very high accuracy sound viable to me. Bonus tip: FoD is an ability that has the keyword "Fire", so everything that boosts fire abilites also works with FoD. THis includes the Ring of Focused Flame (+10 ACC on top), Magran's Favor (Battle Axe, +2 to fire Power Level) and Sun and Moon (Flail, +2 to fire Power Level). +4 Power Level is a huge boost to the base damage of FoD. Combined with Scion of Flame you will do great FoD attacks with very high accuracy (crits which lead to even higher PEN) and even Spirit of Decay adds +1 PEN if you take Bleak Walker. @bombs & grenades: no idea, I never use them (except Sparkcrackers). I hardly use any consumables at all (besides drugs with Nalpasca and kith meat food with a Corpse Eater).

Chanter's Invocations don't profit from the +1 PEN and range of the Fury. And as far as I know they also don't profit from Scion of Flame etc. (because the Invocations don't have keywords like fire/freeze etc. - unless that got fixed with the latest patch). Besides that the Chanter can be used to circumvent the fact that Furies can't heal.

As you like. I just want to make sure that I include builds into the list which the authors wants to have there.

It works with all weapons, including arquebus. The weapon with the highest potential dmg per FoD attack is Firebrand (can be summoned with Belt of the Royal Deadfire Cannoneer and/or Forgemaster Gloves). Arquebuses work well, too. Basically everything that has high dmg per hit. Dual wieldig hits twice with FoD (Full Attack), so heavy one handers (like dual sabres) are good as well.
