Stuck character (PS4)
Boeroer replied to Bvphomet's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Does she have any move speed debuff (check the Character sheet under active effects)? Those only get applied during combat and it could explain why she can move outside of but not during combat. Besides that: please note that the support forum for the console version of PoE is on Paradox's website - since Obsidian didn't develop the console versions of PoE (but only the PC/Linux/Mac versions). So if we can't help you here (I hope we can though) you might want to check their forums as well: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?forums/pillars-of-eternity-bug-reports.990/ Maybe there's even people who experienced the same bug and there's already a workaround or something. -
I would have liked to experiment that afflictions get upgraded on crit and downgraded on graze. And in case it's only a tier-1 affliction to begin with: lower the duration by 50% on graze (as is) and in case of a crit with a tier-3 affliction do duration *1.5 *1.25 (as is). Can't say if this is any better as the current system - but I would have liked to test this in the open beta. One point of criticism towards PoE was the power of hard CC on graze. If instead catching a stun for 10 secs instead of 20 secs on a graze would have turned into a daze for 20 secs... maybe that would have been better? High defenses == build-in resistance then (kind of). No need for an additional resistance mechanic. Just give races/abilites +20 defense or -20 defense against certain afflictions and so on. Edit: wrong crit duration

No romance!
Boeroer replied to Wormerine's topic in The Outer Worlds: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
But - that only substitutes my theory. If you would murder a fellow human being every week or so - would you have a lot of interest in experiencing the same in a game? Don't think so. Would it be likely that your preferable games are racing games if you are a racing or test driver in real life? Maybe not. It's just a theory without any scientific data so far. ALso - what do you mean? You resent the remark that you do not have murder and kleptomania in your life (enough or... at all)? I really thought that's a good thing that you don't. WHy would you resent that (I mean unless you are a kleptomaniac serial killer - if so then sorry )? Also note that I said "desperately want". I guess you also like games when there's no murder and stealing - if they have other interesting mechanics. Just guessing though... -
No romance!
Boeroer replied to Wormerine's topic in The Outer Worlds: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
According to your logic Deadfire must have sold a lot more than Pillars of Eternity - since it has romances while PoE has not. Funnily though... it has not. I fixed it. Please: only speak for yourself. My theory is (and feel free to burn my avatar on a virtual stake) that most gamers who desperately want romances in games just don't get enough romances in real life. There - I said it. -
For starters, you should be able to select all party members (check the buttons on the lower middle of the screen - one of them is "select all") and just click on the enemy afterwards - and all party members should attack that enemy. If that works then it's most likely no bug that prevents you from attacking. You can also activate/deactivate and alter the AI of your party members. You can give them a more aggressive scriopt so that they (for example) seek and attack enemies all by themselves. Or you can make them more passive so that they only attack if they get attacked. If you switch off the AI you have to micromanage the party members all by yourself. Like - every step they do. Do you have a right mouse button equivalent on that trackpad? Or is it a single button?

Evoker is pretty straightforward. Pile up PL gear (Stone of Power, Firethrower Gloves, Magran's Favor, Sun & Moon, maybe even go Nature Godlike for +1 PL via Infuse with VE or Alacrity) and pick all the passives that sound good. You can pick the spells you always want to use no matter the grimore (like self buffs) - but else I would suggest to get your offensive spells via grimoire and not picking too many actives - choose passives instead. That way you can switch to a fitting grimoire - based on the enemy. Of course as a SC Evoker you wil not be able to only pick meaningful passives since there aren't too many - but you get the general idea. Then go to town with your PL madness. You can try to muticlass with a Berserker or Furyshaper: Frenzy (faster casts, more dmg - if Berseker due to Tenacious: +2 PEN) Bloodlust (you will kill a lot and often benefit from even faster casts) Frenzy Ward: even faster casts (stacks) Blood Thirst (this is the bomb - no recovery after kills with spells...) Spirit Frenzy (Stagger foes with all spell dmg) Savage Defiance (emergency heal) Brute Force (pick the lower defense automatically which is great) Fear Ward: great for not getting attacked in melee while casting You will lose Power Levels (2) and the high level spells - but you can spam spells like crazy at a certain level. It makes for a more interesting experience during the mid game but I think it's lower endgame power due to the lack of those very impactful PL8/9 spells. However - Blood Thirst + spells like Delayed Fireball (with the support of Magran's Favor + Sun & Moon + Gloves + Ring) just make me laugh. I also like to stand in my own fireballs with the Fractured Casque + Scorched Cloak + an injury. Look really Warlockish and heals my buttocks while I'm nuke-spamming the heck out of everything around me. Archane Archer - a few things to consider: that ACC penalty only occurs if you use non-elemental abilities and auto-attacks with a weapon that has no elemental keyword. It's fairly easy to circumvent the penatly - and very early in the game as well. You simply use a weapon that has an elemental keyword (Frostseeker, Essence Interrupter, Dragon's Dowry...) Multi-projectile weapons and abilites (Heartseeker for example) will not trigger imbue spells multiple times. It even used to be so that only the first projectile hits, then triggers the imbued spell - and weirdly the rest gets completely omitted(!). Hope that got fixed... Multi-jump weapons (and abilities like Driving Flight and Wild Shot) will trigger multiple imbue spells. So an attack with Watershaper's Rod/Fire in the Hole + Driving Flight using Imbue:Fireball will result in 3 Fireballs. An attack with Kitchen Stove + Wild Barrage + Driving Flight + Imbue Fireball will result in 4 Fireballs (note that Fury's natural weapon jump does not stack with Driving Flight - for whatever weird reason). All weapon abilites that have an elemental keyword (e.g. Flames of Devotion) will not receive the ACC pentaly I suggested a Bleak Walker (or any Paladin)/Archane Archer with Spearcaster as main weapon for the following reasons: Flames of Devotion gets a +10 ACC bonus and does not suffer the ACC penalty Ring of Focused Flame works with FoD (another +10 ACC). It also works with Imbue Fireball (+10 ACC) Eternal Devotion works on all damaging imbued spells (e.g. Fireball gets a burning lash) Sworn Enemy works with the imbue spells (+20% dmg) Brand Enemy can be used to put an everlasting DoT on the enemy which will unlock Predator's Sense all the time (Sworn Rival is also great of course if you don't want to use your Animal Companion offensively) Flames of Devotion (especially Bleak Walker's) works extremely well with Takedown Combo. The 100% additive dmg will get mutiplied by the two lashes of a Bleak Walker's FoD You have more heals for your AC You can either increase your ACC even further with Zealous Focus or protect & heal your AC via Exalted Endurance You can even revive the AC without injury (since ACs can't have injuries) Scion of Flame gives your Imbue Fireball +1 PEN (not bad 'cause the PL scaling of the Imbue spells is still messed up) Since you are skilling for Arcana anyways (Imbue spells' scaling) you can as well go for Spearcaster (early, awesome weapon) and get total ACC overkill which crits even bosses all the time. Since you have lots of FoD uses you won't receive the ACC pentaly too soon. And even if the -5 ACC hardly matter while you stacked massive amounts of ACC before Elemental Bolts's mini-lashes add to your FoD lash and work very well with Takedown Combo - and I think (not 100% sure) they also add to the imbued spells Pinning from Spearcaster is just great I can interrupt/prone with an arbalest via modal very reliably with such high ACC Dragon's Dowry is also cool since it doesn't get any ACC pentaly at all - no matter what attack you choose. It also works with the Ring oFF all the time, meaning that even auto-attacks get +10 ACC. Its burning lash of 30% is very powerful. Of course it lacks the Arcana-ACC, it has lesser crit damage (and Arcane Archer can crit a lot) and an inherent ACC penatly of -5. Both work well. Frostseeker also works - but as long as the multi-projectile bug is not fixed (additonal projectiles don't connect with imbue shots) I would only want to use this as backup for when my Bond is empty. Remember that with Imbue Shots the most effective weapons are those which add jumps though. I used FoD a lot - so in that case Dragon's Dowry and Spearcaster etc. are very nice. But for pierce immune enemies a brought Watershaper's Focus anyway (or Fire in the Hole since it does pierce/slash). So I found myself switching to the WS Focus several times when I wanted to use Imbue:Fireball even though with Spearcaster I would have had a lot more ACC. Also the WS Focus'es Blast can add AoE damage to the Fireballs (and does so thrice due to 2 jumps). A single class Arcane Archer can have Imbue: Death which is very, very devastating with multi-jumps. For me this is the only reason to go single class with an Arcane Archer. You will buy this power with a more "bland" Arcane Archer before getting Imbue Death though (in my opinion). Other class-combos might also work very well - it's just so that I have played that Bleak Walker/Arcane Archer for a whole playthrough and was pretty amazed by its ability to crit just anything with high impact. PS: Against Ironclads and such you want to bring Essence Interrupter. I would totally recommend it as no. 1. weapon besides Dragon's D. and Spearc. if it hadn't that loot-destroying bug.

Not only this, but it also means that you are immune to the corresponding tier-1 affliction if it gets applied to you directly. For example you are not only immune to Stunned (downgraded to Dazed) but also to all abilites that try to apply Staggered to you do nothing. That means you avoid any debuff. However - compared to PoE all afflictions are just a shadow of what they used to be (few exceptions like Terrified and Charmed/Dominated). So a Resistance to something that is not as powerful is not as OP than let's say an immunity to something more powerful - like the Priest's prayers of PoE. One reason why the priest is considered the strongest class in PoE - but def. not in Deadfire (has no immunity spells anymore but just "counters" with inspirations or Suppress Affliction). Also - there are Inspirations. And when it comes to countering an affliction they are no tiers. A tier-1 inspiration will simply cancel out a tier-3 affcltion of the same attribute. That also lowers the value of resistances a bit. All in all I think they are in a good plaxe balance-wise. People complained that PoE afflictions had too much impact on the gameplay because they a) were too powerful and b) also got fully applied on grazes (only duration was shorter). So Obsidian made sure that they are still useful but don't have that much impact anymore (by lowerinf the effects but also by giving the player plenty of countermeasures like Resistances, raised defenses and Inspirations - and later even Resolve).

In terms of dps Grey Sleeper is actually the worst Estoc overall because you can't enchant it with a lash (mean it will lack 25% multiplicative dmg - or even 30% with something like Scion of Flame/Heart of the Storm/Spirit of Decay/Secret of Rime - depending on the lash), not past superb and also not with Durgan Steel. Good thing about it is that is works with every Weapon Focus (Soulbounds are universal weapons which means they will get the ACC +6 bonus from your weapon focus talent no matter which one you picked). So in order to use it properly you don't need to retrain (except if you want to pick Two Handed Style and had picked a different style before). Another good thing is that it doesn't need any resources (crafting material and money) to level it up. Once you get it you have not much choice but to use it of course (since it's cursed and can't be unequipped). Most of the time I would not use it (even with a Barbarian who can make most out of it).

there was? any link to anything discussing this? i'd be curious to read more about any earlier attempts at a TB mode. Phew... can't exactly remember but I think it was some interview or stream. It was said that there was always the plan to bring a turn based mode - even to PoE - but limited time and resources wouldn't let that happen and so it was only some basic stuff. Something like that. I tried to find that piece but didn't succeed yet. There are so many articels that cover "Tuen based mode" and "Pillars of Eternity".

Of course you can. I Deadfire you can even save and export characters (so called adventurers). Meaning in playthrough 1 you can create character A, export (with all his/her gear if you wish), start a new playthrough 2 and import character A as party member (with the character level you wish - with or without the gear). You just need to go to an inn/tavern to hire adventurers.

The Dutch compensated by becoming a nation of walking mountains. I think they are the tallest folks on earth (average height). I was building a house with a company which also does business in the Netherlands. When I was choosing stuff like doors and flooring I asked the guy who showed me all the interiors why some of their doors were so huuuge. And he was like "That's the standard size in the Netherlands." When I go to Enschede or Amsterdam I often feel dwarfed - and I'm 6.3.

"It's impossible to kill that enemy" *rant* <insert blatantly wrong statements> *rant* <include explicit language> - Forum shows ways of dealing with the enemy and explains why statements are wrong "You can only do it overleveled and with metagaming" <insert wrong statements> - Forum shows how you can totally do it without metagaming and overleveling and explains again why statements are wrong. "Eh whatever I will not react to your valid points. You are fanboys and cirlce jerks!" I leave it to the objective reader to decide who's the jerk...

David Hasselhoff's "Looking for Freedom" only made #1 because it became the inofficial hymn of the German reunification (for whatever sardonic reason). Not because of its quality. I mean most Germans have a bad taste in contemporary music, but this one wouldn't have been as successful without the Wall falling. I'd say that highly depends on where you are in Germany. As the US, Germany is a country of cultural heterogeneity. I mean compare California with Alabama and Saarland with Sachsen... Usually the West is more US friendly than the East. Where have you been? Of course right now more Germans are dismissive of americans than when Obama was president - because most of us can't understand the Trump phenomenon. You also gave us a douchy US Ambassador. So there's that...

No, we don't overlevel. We just realize that -25 Fortitude via Body Blows (which targets Deflection) might be very handy against a foe who's vulnerable to crush damage, has lower Deflection and high Fortitude. Thus we will switch to a Morning Star as soon as we realized that. I beat Neriscyrlas the first time I played BoW with a party on PotD at lvl 15 (since the recommended lvl was 15+ for BoW) - without any meta knowledge- simply by looking at her stats and choosing a Morning Star, Combusting Wounds and a Wall of Flame. I had the help of all three NPCs (Waidwen, Inquisitor, King of Ukaizo). It was over very quickly. No metagaming involved. But even if you fail on the first try: you already have meta knowledge after the first reload. So what's the deal with meta knowledge. If you are not playing Trial of Iron there's no problem in failing a few times to build up some more metaknowledge about the dragon. Nobody said that PEN/AR is an interesting or good mechanic. Most of us don't like it since it has too much impact and everything evolves around stacking PEN and AR, especially on PotD. But that has not much to do with the claim that Neriscyrlas is impossible to beat (she doesn't even have that high AR in the first place - for a boss) and PEN/AR especially has nothing to do with the way complaints are brought forth. The problem a lot of players have is that she casts Llengrath's Safeguard at some point. And once that's active she will gain +5 AR on top of her highish AR as soon as she drops below 50% endurance. But you can interrupt that spell rel. easily (3 sec cast) IF you are looking out for what Neriscyrlas is doing and NOT spamming abilities on him without looking. Then his AR is totally manageable (especially if you use fire abilites). OR you use raw damage (Death Ray, Disintegrate and so on). Thare are plenty of ways to deal with that. I can understand if people complain about Megabosses being just a huge pile of AR, defenses and health - but Neriscyrlas? Nah... Claiming that Saru Sichr is vendor trash is a bold move. It simply shows that you didn't understand what that weapon does. Its DoT "Poison Dipped" plus upgrades that has secondary effects on tick stack with every hit. So this weapon is actually perfect against boss enemies with high Fortitude. A tick every 12 secs - doesn't sound too good. But once you hit the enemy 10 times you have 10 parallel ticks and things start to become interesting (maybe that Neriscyrlas is immune to poison/disiease though so in that case the DoT will not work). Now you could say "How am I suposed to know this?" and you are right. But when I'm not 100% sure about something I would'nt make such strong and absolute statements. The Willbreaker is not late game equipment. Doing the Crookspur slavers is mid level content. And even IF you don't have both you can still us a normal Morning Star to apply Body Blows - which is the whole point of using a Morning Star in this case. Lower the defenses so that you can land other, more damaging abilites. Club lowers Will by 25. Which makes landing Misama more likely (especially if empowered) which will lower it 40 points further. If you don't see how this can be of use you didn't understand the game mechanics at all. And if you want to tell me that you tried BoW's endboss at lvl 10 (although the recommended level is way higher) - then went to a forum to rant how it's too difficult for you because of high AR (while PEN increases with Power Level which kind of relates to char level) then I can just
