  1. Durance is not impotent. He's just ugly. That is kind of frustrating too. Based on his stats, he's also not a very good dancer. The "priest is a bit like a daddy" might be his best bet, but that limits him to very vulnerable women.
  2. Discovering you're part of a video game if you selected : "Are you real ? [lie] Yes." the first time you met Zahua in PoE1. It would be a very funny easter egg.
  3. Durance brings the bad stat distribution to another league. But to his defense, this is because Resolve is a meh stat.
  4. I think 6th slot opens interesting possibilities to customize the party once each essential role are fullfilled. But I can live without it and see what happen.
  5. Thou shalt count to six, no more, no less. Six shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be Six. Seven shalt thou not count, neither count thou five, excepting that thou then proceed to six. Eight is right out. Once the number six, being the sixth number, be reached, then thou shalt stop and have a party.
  6. Yeah, good skill. Druid basically gets a party-wide version of it at the same level which stacks better with similar effects. I guess wizard can't be perfect ^^
  7. It might be better to consider Riposte as a fun traits of a classical rogue (preferrably dual wielding) than a build on its own.
  8. Heart of Fury is really fun to use AND powerful. Carnage is great and smart design on its own, but HoF puts it on another level. For spells, I would say the whole Storm line (returning, relentless, avenging) has fun mechanics and big impact on the battlefield. I like it. I hoped so much for storm spells to be unique and powerful in bg, but they were rather meh...
  9. Fighter is already the vanilla class. Vanilla Fighter might a class with zero ability, 35 starting Deflection and Acc, and +5 Acc and defense per level. The most vanilla of them all.
  10. Paladin + Rogue = Holy Sniper Wizard + Priest = Overpowerer Monk + Druid = Kung-Fu Panda
  11. Vithraki are Vithrak riding giant spiders and raiding Ixmatli Plains. They are waiting for the giant spider that will weave the world. It is known.
  12. I would tend to say that the major flaw of Eora gods aren't the ideas that they embody, but rather the mere fact that they embody ideas. Skaen betrays all the time because it is his Nature. Why would he suggest you to aid the goddess of Law, in the epilogue, if it wan't for his bretrayer Nature urging him to advise you treason ? Eothas was so obsessed by hope and goodness that he triggered a war, probably to purge the world of every Evil things... including the ones that didn't embrace goodness. That resulted in the creation of a theocracy. Ondra was so obsessed by the idea that certain things shall be forgotten so she threw a moon on an entire civilization. Abydon died because he couldn't cheat his nature of protector. Even if his intellect agreed with the gods decision, he still had to die for it. Ideals lead to ideology, mother of all extremisms and lack of adaptability.
  13. "Subversion, the scapegoat cousin of justice" as said the Skaen Priest is probably one of the best line of the game. Skaen might be seen as useful to the society when created.
  14. Crossbow and arbalest speciality really suits the rogue for me. But Crossbows and even more Arbalest are closer to guns than to bows. And Rogue are expert mechanics and are depicted with a lot of gadgets in traditional lore. So I would say that a special ability with all loadable weapons would be really the best choice IMHO.
  15. I don't think they are a complete failure. Single Target DPS is an okay specialization, and I find Sneak Attack very nice to use. The whole concept of an offensive warrior requiring positionning micro is really nice, and I always liked Rogue at low level. However, I agree that they are lacking some flavour, some more options, some secondary specialization. More positionning, more conditional offenses, or maybe conditional defenses would make this class more fun to use. Barbarian, on the other side, is a decent damage soaker and a nice group debuffer. Rogue single target debuff are not on par in my opinion. More stuff for ranged Rogue would be nice, but in a world like PoE, I would prefer Rogue to have some unique abilities with firearms than bows. Twin arrows make Ranger prevail for bows, I would like Rogue to prevail with guns. They could get some Sniper stuff. This would complete nicely their current melee specialization. They are probably the best "Quickswitcher class" already. I would say it already work rather well. Firearms DPS is meh. They only excel in opening shots. Therefore, a Firearm specialization won't make them BETTER than ranger at range, just different. And this would be nice.
  16. I feel it is fair that priest and paladin don't get more subclasses, but it would be great if their actual content could be expanded a bit. And it would be great to be able to play priests from ANY of the eleven gods.
  17. Game length apart, I would have said:1. White March Part 2 2. White March Part 1 3. Pillars of eternity. WM is overall a bit better, and WM2 has awesome levels. Abbey of the Fallen moon deserves a medal on its own. Very challenging fight, unique lore, magnificent music and an awesome conclusion with excellent voice for Ondra. And I like the ambiance and music in Stalwart . Especially the song at tavern, for which I just realized it was so closely related to the plot !
  18. You never get enough fortitude. Uber-fortitude will basically makes you immune to Prone, Paralysis, Petrify and Stun. This is priceless. And if you have a cipher in your party, great fortitude + defensive mindweb will do the same for your whole party.
  19. Combat in Planescape is not great, but I don't feel it is that bad neither. Sure it is rather easy and not the main part of the game, but I remember having some fun with combat. Fighting the rat entity, streets of carceri curst or the box's fiend were a ton of fun. The magical items were epic (that Dak'kon blade, tatoos...) and the NPC had interesting unique perks (morté 75% physical resist...). Combat acted a bit as a reward for curiosity. The more you speak, the more xp you, the stronger you get. For me it was a part of the experience of being a mighty immortal. Not to mention combat music ("Ssshhh pathfinding, stay hidden, I won't tell them about you...")
  20. I wanted to create this thread after debating of rogues once more under following thread : https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/90814-pleading-for-rogue-buff-once-more/ Basically, the current problems of the Rogue are : - Rogue is the least liked class : http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/88890-class-popularity/ - Rogue is usually seen as the least powerful class : https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/88395-what-are-the-most-powerful-classes-in-303/ - Rogue might be a bit single-trick pony, and a bit bland. There are 2 parts in the poll, one for minor tweak for PoE1 content, and one for bigger changes for future PoE2 evolutions. Feel free to express your wishes. You should choose to prioritarize some tweaks or changes over some others. Minor Tweaks : At this phase of the game, it is unlikely to have big changes to current balances. I still believe that a bit of balance to Core rules would be a good thing for the future PoE2, so there still might bit a chance for minor tweaks to happen. I explained why they would be suitable for me in the original thread. Big Changes and Evolutions : For bigger changes, I think they are not likely to happen before PoE2. But there were a lot of nice ideas from the original thread, so I tried to gather them here. I have voluntary separated them from the minor tweaks. The idea behind most of these suggestions (except "Even more Single Target DPS at High level” of course) is also to make rogue a bit more interesting than just a girl/guy that deals big single target damages. So, here are these ideas : --- Even more Single Target DPS at High level: Such as scaling sneak attacks. Single Target DPS is rogue speciality. Let's give him more. This one is pretty straightforward. Some Area of Effect damages: I really could see a rogue using tricks like grenades, even if I feel AoE damages shouldn't be Rogue Speciality. But you may disagree. Specialization toward temporary Single Target DPS Burst: Rogue currently has some very high Single Target DPS for very short time, such as Final Blow and Backstab. You may think future improvement should stress even more this aspect, could it would emphasize rogue's assassin role. Backstab rework for better effects for small weapons: Due to how Backstab mechanism work, it I currently better with big weapons, and even more with firearms. You may think it is unfair, and daggers and stylettos should be the weapon of choice for backstab. This would require a rework on how backstab work, such as better damage multiplicator for small weapons. More ugly and dishonorable tactics : Rogue should be more than brute force. There should have more dirty tricks such as per encounter traps, feints, or more backstab possibility. Dirty tricks should be based on risk & reward mechanism, and should have very powerful effects when you meet their conditions, that could be hard to trigger. More defensive tricks: Rogue should never be tank, but I could see them specialized in temporary or conditional defense. They could be specialized in defense against a single target (THEIR target). They could get bonus defense from ennemies with active status (mirroring sneak attack). I could totally see a swashbucker sub-class being able to execute single-target parry, dodge, and various evasions. More interesting Strikes mechanism: Strikes are currently a bit simple. In many games, Rogue-like class have some kind of combo points or chained strike. Why rogue couldn't have common pool of ressource to manage their strike ? Why can't they have a kind of more interesting mechanism for their attacks ? Special skill with consumable items: Due to their high accuracy, bonus crits and deep wound, rogue are currently one of the top (probably the top) item users. Rogues have always been very good item users in similar games. Therfore, I think they could get a couple of bonus to their item uses, such as trap throwing, bonus with scrolls, fast potion, or “deep pockets” by default… In PoE, all classes already have a kind of “Use Any Items” ability.
  21. "What is the point of being a priest of Wael ?" is a very waelish question for a priest of Wael.
  22. Upgrade the pet and use a bow if you want to optimize your ranger. Your group is quite balanced overall, so there's no obvious choice. Ranger are really good, but pets tend to die against hard bosses, and their awesome DPS drops a bit against high DR. Monks are really balanced. Even an almost naked monk is quite tanky, they have great DPS especially if built for it and they really shine in hard battle. So why not Zahua ?
  23. Torment, Baldur's Gate 2, Pillars of Eternity It's really hard for me to say in which order I would put this trio. Torment is an incredible experience, but does not have the same level of replayability as its pairs. Fantastic musics. BG2 was a great story, had many nice builds, incredibly epic magical items and overall good everything Pillars is just a more modern version of BG2. More balanced, more mature and more convenient. A couple of things were not perfect in the original game, but White March is already a better version of it. Pillars of Eternity 2 might be incredible on this basis. I guess isometric 3D party game is really my thing. I never felt such an appeal for real 3D, mostly because you have less a feeling of tactical RTS-like battles. Lots of honourable mentions such as Skyrim, FFVII, FFX, Chrono Trigger, Arcanum, Hordes of the Underdark (NWN was not so good overall), Earthbound (Mother 2) and my old beloved Secret of Mana... Special mention to Icewind Dale 2, great entertainement with surprisingly good writing, exceptional epic musics and my all-time favorite antagonists in RPG, Isair and Madea. And Tides of Numenera is going to be released this month
