In endgame, Durance is better with sword and board, so it can offtank with his (too) high RES. It's not like he could get interrupted. Little Savior is the ultimate shield for him, and it won't hinder his Accuracy for Fire Storm and similar ultimate Priest endgame damage spells. On the other hand, Eder will be ultimately so tanky anyway that going Sword & Board is a waste of DPS. Fighters are better with dual wield or 2-hander. For the early game, you might keep Eder and Durance as they are, because tanking in the early game is not that easy, and you might prefer keeping your priest safe in the back row and your fighter as armored as needed. Chanter are actually very good as offtank with a shield or even as secondary tank. Remember that he will probably be your main DPS with Dragon trashed, so having him in the heart of melee is nice. You can give him the hardest possible armor, as Chanters don't give a ship about attack speed anyway. Alternatively, he is a good quickswitcher with guns as an island Aumaua.

You'll have more impact on combat when you'll get Sacred Immolation, trust me. Sacred Immolation is about half of max DPS you can get from a character on its own (The Dragon Trashed Chanter being #1 DPS and Sacred Immolation beinh around half of it). It is IN ADDITION to the snipes. That was one the point of having a lot of INT with this build. Overall, you won't be a DPS character (but Paladins aren't anyway), but you' ll be solid DPS with Alpha strikes an support, so you'll be fine. Having outworn buckler + melee weapon is also a decent backup. Party defense buff + flanking work You don't have to go melee to use it. That was one the point of having a lot of INT with this build.

About "stuff like zealous endurance", what are you thinking about ? Zealous Endurance + Shielding Flames is a good combination. That's the one I personnally used. I think you already have a priest to cast Blessing and there are also a couple of endgame items that can cast it too. So in general, I pick Zealous Endurance over Zealous Focus. Inspirating Triump is another good defensive option, but it was already in the build. Are you thinking about other defensive abilities ? I think I've already put the best ones in the original build ^^

Does that mean you use her ranged? I send her in the fray with a 2hander... am I wrong in doing this?? Pallegina stats aren't good for pure ranged, but she's great at quickswitching, or just alpha-shoting. Even if you go pure melee, Wrath of the Five suns will give her ranged alpha strike without even needing to change your weapons.

You can always swap an ability for another, but I thought Sworn Ennemy really suited the build (and RP). Liberating Exhortation is a good filler in case you need one. There are other options but I don't like them. You don't have to use it an ability each combat to make it useful. Sworn ennemy is really strong for boss fight, or just to kill a random though guy after you have killed your #1 priority target. Think about boss fight (the most critical) : won't you enjoy casting sworm ennemy on dragons or bounty ? Or ogre druid ? You might feel Sworn ennemy as an overkill for normal fight and... well, it is. But it is really nice for the most critical fight. Remember that is applies to everything from Spellbind items to Sacred Immolation, and it basically brings you above Cipher's level of weapon damage against 1 target. It is exactly the same as reviving exhortation : in a normal fight, you won't even use it. In a critical fight, it can save the day. By the way, NEVER EVER miss Sworn Ennemy and her Wrath of the Five Suns unique talent with Pallegina. It is her most powerful asset, and the reason why she is such a good sniper.

Well, for the pure mechanical point of view, Goldpact suits for sure. Goldpact are basically sworn cotract killer, so you don't need a very original background to have him become a sniper. It is basically a killer with a gun. It was a bit less counter-intuitive to have a Shieldbearer with a gun, but that is also what made this short story a bit more interesting to write.

Its even better on Rogue thanks to Deep Wounds and Deathblows. I've a good time playing a pirate themed rogue using Quick Switch (triple gun x Runaccuraner's Wounding Shot and Sap) and wielding those two babies at the moment. Arrr arrr.... I'm not convined that +20Acc from disciplined barrage isn't better than deathblow in this circunstance. Crowd Control with crazy acuracy is great, even if is worse for the damage part. By the way, do saber of the sea's wave hurt your party (like white crest's) or not (like swadding sheet) ?
-
It actually reminds me of an old build of mine, that was built around the high Accuracy from Disciplined Barrage and uses of spellbind items. https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/91836-class-build-the-unstoppable-wave-siege-breaker-fighter/ I had a lot of fun with him, but it would have worked even better with this new saber ! Maybe less damage than with twin Bittercut, but casting 3 waves per combat +1 per rest with +20Acc would have been priceless ! One might mix Bittercut with Saber of the Sea in order to spare Helwax Mold.

I don't think wizards have enough uses of Electrical and Corrode talents, even when going full damages. Freeze talent is a must take as it will serve you all the game from Chill Fog to Kalakoth's Freezing Rake. Minor tip : Freezing Raze sort of bounces on walls. So you can easily have it do twice its (already impressive damages) Fire talents is pretty Ok too.

Pets have exactly 3 differences : - Stats, with similar number of total points ( https://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Animal_Companion ). For some reason, Anteloppe has 2 less stat points. - Special abilities 1 per pet (also check on the page above) - a  hidden attribute that is Base Attack speed. https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/86684-mechanics-the-big-attack-speed-conundrum/ To make it short, Bear and Lion are LAME because they attack 1.5 slower (66% of damages outputs) without any thing to compensate. Yes, they have abilities, but all other pet have one and I don't think their abilities are better. Yes, Bear has +2DR, but is it significantly better than Anteloppe +7 all Def ? NO. Is Bear stat distribution significantly better than Anteloppe to justify 1/3 less damage output ? No way. Lion's terror (despite of poor INT) might be situationnally helpful but I still feel it is a bit gimped. Wolf has a little disengagement bonus, but its main asset is higher base damage. That is huge. It does pretty much as much damage as a 2 hander ! Anteloppe bonus defense and +7 all def makes it versatile. I like it. The boar ability is weird, and won't help as much as wolf base damage bonus BECAUSE BAUSE DAMAGE GETS MULTIPLIED BY PET LEVELLING. Boar bonus only stacks, and it is not even always active. Stag is a "why not". Carnage AoE is small (low INT) but Carnage is always good to have, especially because pets get a ton of damage bonus by levelling. So for me : The good : 1 - Wolf / Ituumak (a wolf with -10% HP and +~6% attack speed) 2 - Anteloppe (despite its low stats, its ability is solid enough. Nice for tanking... if you have healers. Defense are high, but HP are not)* 3 - Stag More complicated to use but probably quite fun you are looking for AoE aren't you ? The bad : 4 - Boar. Normal attack speed but IMHO the worst ability. 5 - Lion. Terror is a situationnaly good but lame DPS 6 - Bear. No way to justify from a powergaming point of view. 2DR isn't enough to justify lame DPS. *Tip : Pet + Healers is awesome because pets have infinite health and their DR shine at high level. Lay on Hand is especially sweet, as chanters talents, Sacred Immolation healing, or Ranger 2x heal per encounter I would advise you stag. It gives you a "baby" barbarian (probably quite bad at low levels) with support AoE. And it is probably quite fun. Or just go on with your current party and pick up Sagani Cheers

The top AoE damage dealer is the chanter, because Dragon Trashed does an incredible amount of damage. It's basically a DoT fireball in endgame that procs every 4s and does not hurt your team. And it does this while walking around. Not sure it counts as a non-caster though. Paladin is not to bad either from lvl 13 due to Sacred Immolation. But if you're looking for a character who deals AoE just by swinging his weapon... well it's the very definition of a Barbarian. Barbarian are quite good at this, are not too bad at tanking and are able to debuff foes a bit. But their ultimate weapon is heart of fury. It is basically a carnage of carnage (every target that you normally hit with carnage will trigger carnage itself). It is the best AoE Power Spike of the game when used a tight group. Ranger deserves a mention, as Driving Flight enables hitting a secondary target behind the first. It's not exactly AoE but it still hits several target. You may also pick Powder Burn ability with guns, but honnestly, it's not that good.
-
Well, technically it's 50% damages against 50% DR. Which basically multiply your damages by 1.5. It's the closest thing from a true 50% in the complicate world of PoE damage mulitpliers. However, a 50% lash from one source (Flames of Devotion or Torment Reach) is actually more than 50% more damages ^^

White march 1 is brilliant!

Yup, I know all that. All this is just about a spelling mistake. -

For some reasons, I always get confused about the writing of this word. Even for the month "March", I need to check on Google every time. That does not help White March includes snow trolls and that its most difficult battle is located in a bog. -

lolwut Would you prefer White Marsz ? Or White MarÅ› maybe ? Why this world has so many ways of writing the sound "sh" ? -
Okay, I will see what I can do. I admit that I imagined the character more for game mechanics purpose than for RP. If what I'm going to say is not convincing enough, maybe you should pick a former hunter that joined the Goldpact rank as a sort of Sworn contract killer. This one would be more obvious I changed Origin from Old Valia to Aedyr as it will suit better with the Order's background. No need to add too much complexity. BG : Hunter, Explorer or Colonist would suit the description below. This BG won't be about what your character was in the rank of the Order, but what he was before joining them. "As far as I remember, I've always hated people who take decisions that affect the lives of others. My family was poor and decided to leave our Aedyrian homeland for a colony in the Living Lands, only to find themselves under the rule of a local chieftain. Lord Asloth was the second-born of a half-rich family, frustrated from birth and eager to claim a destiny of his own. His ruthlessness somehow convinced Aedyrian investors that he could make a suitable leader for the oversea colony where my parents had moved. He was eager to make sacrifices to ensure prosperity, but most of the time, the sacrifices were about other's lives. After a few years, Asloth ran into conflict with rival colonies. He said he will defends his rights with weapons if necessary but he was not speaking about bearing weapons himself. My father and older brother were told that their hunter and farmer lifes were over. They had to become soldiers for a greater cause, which happen to be the glory of another man. Asloth gathered all adult men on the main square of the small group of wooden houses he called "his town". He started what he thought that was an inspirational speach about "giving one's own life". But Asloth got shot in the head. No one knew who the gunner was. To be honnest, no one really tried to know. People of good will from our colony made a treaty with our neighbors. It wasn't the best treaty the Aedyr Empire has ever negociated, but it was a Treaty of Peace. Years later, I was back to the Empire mainland. An emissary had remarked my wit and physical strength and managed to convince me I would be a good recruit for the Shieldbearers. His final argument was "we need talented knights to guarantee peace in the name of people like your parents". This was enough to lead me back to my homeland. When I eventually faced my future trainer at the Order's castle, he asked me : "What is the best weapon to guarantee peace ?" He was expecting something like "The shield, because the shield protects the worthy" or "honnesty, because it makes people more willing to make peace". But I answered "Guns". He asked why. I said "Because guns directly threaten the life of the person in charge of deciding whether there will be peace or war. Other weapons only threaten the blood of the innocent he is willing to sacrifice for his own purposes". He was surprised, but he liked my answer. And allowed me to choose guns as my main training weapon. My comrades with shining shields feeled it was a bit weird in the beginning, but after a couple of skirmishes, they recognized that the tactical sense and "priority making" I was able to deploy from my backrow position was an asset for the Order. That is how I became the "Peacekeeper with a Gun". And now I have sailed to another (former) aedyrian colony, just to check if a local tyrant doesn't need to be reminded that peace can spare lifes... including his own.

White Marsh is overall better than the original game (which was already quite good). White Marsh II includes the very best part of the game according to me : the most interesting dungeon with the best Lore background, extremely tactical battles (quite difficult, be careful !) and perfectly suited ambiance music track. You still have to visit it. Remember the bard song in Stalwart tavern ? Now you will discover where it comes from )
