  1. As an aside, I really dislike anime. That doesn't invalidate it as an art form, but it's an aesthetic I'm glad Obsidian isn't adopting.
  2. Don't you think his pant has a very fasionable style? I can't believe a pant with natural wear will become that style.... Not every character needs to look like they just stepped out of a fashion show. He looks like he lives a life of near poverty and doesn't worry much about how his pants look. That art is great and it tells a story.
  3. Why the hell do I need other people to make my character for me? I guess if some of you people want to make this a social enterprise that's your business, but I really don't want Obsidian spending any time on integrating this kind of thing into the game.
  4. And if the game does the same? Why would it be so different??? Why would the designers script in a fight that is usually a tactic designed to be punitive and put it in a single player game? That's the epitome of a flawed design. But, bring on the pain in hardcore mode: which is how I will play it .

  6. Chris Avellone, who was the lead on Torment is writing the companions ... in pther words, rest easy ... also, you might want to post more often so you don't end up spilling out a bunch of pent up ideas all at once.
  7. Not a big deal to me, but I get why people want it.
  8. Well lucky for you there are a million and one other games where you can do just that.
  9. I'm telling you dude, those scribes are ruthless, col-blooded bastards. Mark my words!!
  10. I think "litetate" should definitely be a character creation trait (with mages and the like getting it for free). Gives my hulking barbarian Thavo Ukkonnen a reason to let a spindly, weakling wzard tag along.
  11. Different climate zones is great, varying weather is good too, but 4 seasons with snow accumulation, plant senescence, leafing out in spring, etc. Would quaruple the number of outdoor renders they would have to create, unless they can develop a pretty robust particle effects system that allows them to layer 3D elements seamlessly onto environments ... bottom line is, don't hold your breath.
  12. Extremely difficult is fine (great actually!) But an encounter that is truly unwinnable in a computer game is just bad design. People will just waste hours trying to overcome it before giving up and going to the forums to bitch about. If it becomes known that the encounter was designed to be unbeatable people will not be happy. If this was PnP then that's entirely different. In an unwinnable fight a good GM will know to drop lots of hints, and this kind of move is really only reserved for especially arrogant or munchkin behavior.
  13. Let's assume for a second that the OP isn't just a lame trolling attempt. PE probably isn't meant for you ... not at all.
  14. I can't help but think that successful troll is successful ...
  15. Over 100K according to kicktraq today with several hours left. Ding, ding, ding, ding ... ring that bell
  16. "It's just a game" is perfectly valid reason not to spend 500 to 1000 man hours of develpment time, for a project with an extremely modest budget and roughly 500 days to get everything done.
  17. What the lack of a printing press does, is make scribes a likely pseudo-religious sect unto themselves. I mean these mofos are the gatekeepers of knowledge, I would love to see PE do something with this -- maybe turn the scribes guild into a group something like the free masons during the middle ages?
  18. Ah you just mentioned the crux of the whole problem. It's a game ... it's not a thesis, it's not a research paper, and it's not an exercise in linguistics ... it's. Just. A game.
  19. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Gary Gygax's single worst contribution to the RPG hobby was the invention/inclusion of a rigid alignment system. It's reductive, it hinders organic character growth or change in the course of a game (talking PnP here) and it's mostly just nonsense.
  20. If they're going to spend zots on animation, I'd rather they just make sure people walk and run somewhat naturally before I'd devote any time to sheathing animations.
  21. Don't forget the 48K and 1000+ backers from Paypal ... Feargus just posted that a little bit ago on the KS comments section.
  22. Hawt Asari romances are hawt though Unassailable logic is unassailable. FWIW, PCGamer.com has given the project a lot of love. The comments in the Update #20 blurb they wrote were universally positive too ... maybe the first time I've ever seen the internets agree on something in ... forever?
