  1. The game sites aren't interested because PE won't have an auction house, there won't be cross-promotional armor from Dead Space, no hawt romances announced, no super kewl co-op, no PvP, no grinding for loot and no consoles ... jesus, this game is gonna blow!
  2. If Steam stops as a service, Gabe Newell has already stated that you'll be able to get your games library unlocked and decoupled from Steam. That said, Steam isn't going anywhere for awhile I'd wager.
  3. Whether it's a good thing or a bad thing, people love graphics and shiny pictures.
  4. I'm sure you showed them the error of their ways ...
  5. Somebody tell those damned dwarves to get off their lazy union arses and get back to work digging my dungeon!
  6. Temple of Elemental Evil had a really nice aesthetic. If PE can achieve something like the environmental animations in that game that's plenty good enough for me.
  7. Try to remember. In them olden times, peoplez wur a lot tuffer
  8. Kudos to the artist that created that environment. Really makes me want to spend some time looking around.
  9. As long as what needs to done is reasonbly clear to advance the story that's fine, but I don't want a lot of handholding. You should have to dig a little to suss things out.
  10. That interviewer ... nevermind, I've got nothing constructive to say. I'll just be over here to the side, rhythmically banging my head against my desk if anybody needs me ...
  11. Steam for Linux is on the way too ... not important to everyone, but it's one reason I'll use steam when the game drops (a principle thing as much as a convenience thing).
  12. 50/50 mix would do me good.
  13. Railroading sucks too ... maybe that's why I favor mutually exclusive paths and decisions?
  14. Three "little" things: 1. Gameplay -- meaningful and varied choices, multiple paths to problem solving, deep/difficult combat that rewards thoughtful and clever tactics. 2. Compelling story -- It doesn't need to be some vast, epic world changing story arc, but It will hopefully draw me in (Torment, Arcanum, and Mask of the Betrayer are great examples) 3. Mutually exclusive pathways -- I know some people favor completionist style playthroughs, but I want to make decisions that will lock off certain factions, quests, story lines, etc. This enhances not only immersion, but makes replay all the more compelling. But honestly, it still comes back to gameplay; that's what will keep me coming back for more. Story is important too, but the story will only be fresh one time, if the gameplay is compelling, you can find new ways to entertain yourself in a game on every new playthrough.
  15. That would be nice ... but I know Feargus has said on the comments section of the KS page, that they are considering doing another KS campaign for the next full PE game (not to be confused with the expansion, which they will fund themselves).
  16. You all are very silly. Everybody knows you can't tell a good story without detailed cinematics and lots of jump cuts. I mean, just look at Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings, how would his staff writer J.R.R. Rowling have been able to write the movie tie-in novels without those great visuals that he provided for him? ...
  17. That's pretty clearly their intent. The Kickstarter's success indicates that there's still a market for these kind of games, but the game is going to also need to sell (relatively) well at release and let's be frank it needs to be "good" -- in order for them to serialize their IP, it needs to make an impact and generate not just some sales, but some buzz.
  18. You won't be charged until the end of the kickstarter campaign. You know that right? Or did you donate via paypal?
  19. FWIW, I'm sure the expansion pack will be available for retail purchase indefinitely and not just a one off thing for Kickstarter backers.
  20. Obsidian is internally funding the expansion soley with their own cash reserves and presumably from profits generated on the sale of PE. As for a guarantee of a refund ... I doubt it ... but I'm not exactly sure what your concern is? PE will be made, it will sell some units, it will make them money and they will be creating an expansion pack. Unless you think the whole thing is a clever ruse by Feargus to secure enough money to skip country and buy that villa in Costa Rica he's had his eye on ... oops?! Did I just type that?
