  1. Not getting into the general DRM-free vs. Steam debate here, but sticking to that question: Steam Updates tend to be bigger than GOG standalone updates. Also, you can use GOG Galaxy to keep the game up to date like you would with steam, or you can decide to download said standalone updates. So all in all, GOG offers more flexibility in patching and potentially saves bandwith, if that is a concern for you.
  2. I backed it, but mainly because I liked the concept, the similarities to Disciples, and the devs, but was not really interested in playing it, so I just backed without rewards. However, after having seen some played scenes of the current version, I consider buying it.
  3. But but... how can you resist this awesome value proposition? xD
  4. Won't be full time if that stretch goal is not met. Sure hope money starts pouring in, maybe due to some last minute press coverage? Got awefully little of it so far :/
  5. If only seen from an angle, it's quite unlikely to be related to the driver. However, there have been instances in the past where EDID information was read out incorrectly (or incorrect EDID information was interpreted too strictly) - whatever the cause, under "My Digital Flat-Panels" --> "Display Color" there is a checkbox "Use Extended Display Identification (EDID)", which may be a culprit for colour issues. Or the more obvious ones in the same section, like hue, saturation, or colour temperature. Another possibility: Installing the new driver removed an *.icm file that was active before. You can just reinstall the icm file you used before.
  6. Am I? I didn't dislike them entirely (wouldn't have bought all of them otherwise), they had their highlights. And maybe Bioware decides to focus on these Thanks for the answers so far. Wasn't aware of how little is known at this point.
  7. Based on what you guys know so far (I haven't bothered to read / view any PR stuff released so far), will someone like me be able to enjoy Mass Effect 4 under the following partially contradicting premises: - Loves traditional RPGs as well as action games (previous ME were partially ok) - Loves well written characters (romance does not matter either way, character related quests do) - Loves good story of a personal nature (not necessarily focused on saving the world, but impact on surroundings is nice) - Loves sci fi (mainly either optimistic like Star Trek or pessimistic like some post apocalyptic stuff, previous ME were partially ok) - Loves good graphics (previous ME had their moments) - Loves good music (previous ME had their moments) - Loves games that let you breathe and enjoy (previous ME failed) - Loves games that ask difficult questions and allows to solve things according to own moral standards (previous ME failed) - Loves peaceful solutions (previous ME failed mostly) - Loves to build things (like upgrading ship / stronghold with actual effect on something and branching decisions, both ME and PoE sort of tried but failed in my eyes) - Loves depth in character progression and resulting play style (previous ME failed partially) - Loves consistent quality (previous ME failed spectacularly) - Hates being forced to play military guy (ME 1 & 3) - Hates to play through a string of situations where there is no choice (most missions in ME series so far) - Hates to be suggested choice when there is none or just some email signed with a random character name in a later game (most missions in ME series so far) - Hates explanations and situations that feel forced and illogical (like the transition from ME 1 to ME 2, ME 3 the whole "boy-left-behind" crap) - Hates to play through situations seen in games / movies time and again (ME 1 and 3 mainly) - Hates grinding through hordes of enemies (ME 3 mainly) - Hates constant time limits, stressful situations suggested by story (ME 3 did that on almost every mission) - Hates recycled, obviously confined areas (ME 1 interiors and 3 mainly - ME 2 had more unique, beautiful though small areas that I enjoyed) - Hates repetition (all of the previous MEs had so much obvious time filler material, much like certain shallow but fat books) - Indifferent about achievements - Prefers DRM free but has all the usual sh*t installed anyway (Steam, Origin) except that Ubisoft thingy - Indifferent about NPC character progression - Indifferent about play time (though won't pay 60 bucks for 5 hours of entertainment) - Indifferent about fantasy elements in sci fi as long as it is plausible with few leaps of faith (ME did that quite well with bionics etc.) - Indifferent about game mechanics as long as it's good for what it is (doesn't pretend to be an RPG when it's a somewhat interactive movie)
  8. Seeing that trailer of only partially beautiful graphics with hardly any gameplay except "follow the corridor", QTE and "shoot a grenade", and an ever suffering heroine - I think I'll pass. Septerra Core pimped up?
  9. As far as I remember, in that scene you possibly refer to, there is only one ghost talking. Did you ask about loyalty to Od Nua?
  10. Seems that Titan X "Default" is not only lack of AF, but introduces an LOD bias. Interesting [edit1]Interesting because while proper AF does cost some performance, a LOD bias causes rendering less complex objects which has additional advantages (not for the user of course, but for overall performance and utilization, increasing apparent efficiency). [edit2]Further Titan X screenshots driver quality settings on default do not exhibit such a behaviour. Maybe something in the settings used for that comparison is screwed up.
  11. And here I wanted to share some, hm, heavy punk? music, but thanks to copyright stuff, it's no longer available on youtube. Was called "Prison" by a band called "Tau Cross", and I'd recommend to listen to it. [edit]Oh, Bandcamp! http://taucross.bandcamp.com/track/prison
  12. Mc Comb :D I like the way he thinks, and most of all what resulted from it - want to see more of his work on PC, so gogogo Kickstarter [edit]Also: Matt Chat
  13. Isn't the black dog from the inn at Gilded Vale that labrador?
  14. How big is that "IF"? A shame that it won't be implemented for the Addon(s) then, because due to the teaser movie specifically mentioning caed nua, I was hoping to see improvements in at least some aspects of the stronghold.
  15. Has to be the Unity Engine - Wasteland 2 almost managed to kill my GPU in the final fight o_O 70° is no cause for concern though, unless a) it's a Phenom II that reaches that temperature, because IIRC, it begins to throttle at 62° b) it's the ambient temperature inside your case c) the part reaching that temp is on water cooling Limiting fps is a way to keep it cooler. And if not overclocked, you might try and undervolt your CPU/GPU.
  16. Right, so is there an Avellone contribution a stretch goal again? I mean, the silhouette they're teasing...
  17. That's one hell of a trade upwards, congratulations! Who offered that?
  18. Speaking of DVDs: I love them Thanks for including three discs, really worth the wait to me who oldschoolishly prefers discs to downloads.
  19. No Titan-trouncing this time around However, it's nice that AMD has caught up with nVidia's high end again. Still more power hungry (as if that would really matter in these spheres of performance and cost... THG measured in a too limited scenario), but refreshingly innovative and top class hardware apparently, really nice materials Still kind of tempted to get one for the love of the tech behind it. None the less, I'll wait for DX12 / Vulkan performance and for prices to drop, and, I think, I'd go for the Nano instead
  20. Same here The DVD box arrived today in pristine condition, just as the rest of the Collector's Edition had I'm also surpised to find a DVD for Linux and Mac OS each as well as the one for Windows - kudos to Obsidian and Paradox for that!
  21. To add to the speculation: I'd somewhat suspect personal reasons, with a break between jobs, rather than leaving to directly continue with a different company. [edit] And to add to the general sentiment: Sad to see him leave, Obsidian games probably won't feel the same without his input. I wish MCA all the best in his future endeavours!
  22. Agreed.
  23. Chris Taylor (either of these devs with this name ), with a nick anarchy, bodes really well Welcome to you! Looking forward to news and information about LotER (?)
